[verse 2] Bretheren [The bretheren GMPTY sec. m.] that weren in Listris and Iconye, ȝelden [ȝeldiden GV.] good witnessing [wittenesse O.] to him. [verse 3] Poul wolde him [that this man V.] `for to go [to go SX. schulde goo V.] forth with him silf [Om. V. saaf Y.] , and he `takinge to [took and V.] , cir|cumcide [circumcided AGMNOPQSTVX.] him, for Jewis that weren in `the ilke [that ilke Q. tho X.] places. Sothely [For V.] alle wisten, that his fadir was hethen. [verse 4] Forsoth whanne thei passiden bi citees, thei bitoken to hem for [Om. SX.] to kepe the techingis, that weren demed of apostlis and eldere men, that weren at Jerusalem. [verse 5] And sothly the chirchis weren confermyd in feith, and haboundiden in noumbre ech day. [verse 6] For|soth thei passinge [passiden V.] Frigye, and the cun|tree of Galathie, weren [and weren V.] forbodyn of the Hooly Gost for [Om. SX.] to speke the word of God in Asya. [verse 7] Sothli whanne thei camen into Misye, thei temptiden [assaieden V.] for [Om. SX.] to go into Bithinie, and the [Om. V.] spirit of Jhesu suffride `not hem [hem not GMP.] . [verse 8] Sothli whanne thei hadden

passid by Misye, thei camen down to [verse 9] Troade; and a visioun by [in O.] nyȝt was schewid to Poul. Sum man of Macedonye was stondinge, and preiynge him, and seyinge, `Thou goynge [Go thou V.] into Macedonye, help [and helpe V.] vs. [verse 10] Sothli as he syȝ the visioun, anoon we souȝten for [Om. V.] to Samatrachia; and [verse 12] the [in the GMPTY sec. m.] day suynge to Neapolis; and fro thennis to Philippis, that is the firste part of Macedonye, the citee colonye [of colonye SVX.] . Sothli we weren in this citee summe dayes, spek|inge [and spaken V.] to gidere. [verse 13] Sothli in the day [dayes GQSTX.] of sabotis we wenten out [forth V.] withoute [Om. QT.] the ȝate [ȝates OX.] bisydis the flood, wher preier was [were V.] seyn for [Om. SX.] to be; and we sittinge [saten and V.] , spaken to wymmen that camen to gidere. [verse 14] And sum womman, Lidda bi name, purpuresse [a purpiresse, either womman makinge purpur V.] of the citee of Tiatirens, worschipinge God, herde; whos herte the Lord openyde for [Om. SX.] to ȝyue tent to these thingis, that weren seid of Poul. [verse 15] Forsothe whanne she was baptysid and hir hous, she preiede, sei|ynge, If ȝe han demyd me for [Om. SX.] to be feith|ful to the Lord, entre ȝe into myn hous, and dwelle [dwellith SX.] . And sche constreynede vs. [verse 16] Forsothe it is [was V.] don, `vs goynge [whanne we ȝeden V.] to preier, sum wenche hauynge a spirit of dyuyn|acioun, `for to mete [to mete SX. mette V.] vs [with vs G sec. m.] , the [Om. V.] which ȝaf greet [a greet N.] wynnyng to hir lordis in dyuyn|yng, that is, tellinge hid thingis [thing MT.] bi the deuelis craft. [verse 17] This suynge [suede V.] Poul and vs, criede [and criede V.] , seyinge, Thes men ben seruauntis of hiȝe God, that tellen to ȝou the wey of helthe. [verse 18] Forsothe this thing she dide in many dayes. Sothli Poul sorwinge [sorewede NV.] , and conuertid [conuerted, or turned O. turnede and V.] , seide to the spirit, I comaunde

to thee in the name of Jhesu Crist, `for to go [to go SX. that thou goo V.] out of hir. And he wente out in the same hour. [verse 19] Sothli the lordis of hir, se|ynge for [that V.] the hope of hir wynnyng wente a wey, catchinge [and thei tooken V.] Poul and Silas ledden [thei ledden MPTY sec. m. and ledden V.] into [hem into MPY sec. m.] cheping [the chepyng AGMNOPQSVXY. the clepyng T.] , or dom place, to the princes. [verse 20] And thei offringe [brouȝten V.] hem to the magestratis, seyden [and seiden V.] , These men disturb|len [disturben SX. distroublen V.] oure citee, whanne thei ben Jewis, [verse 21] and schewen a custom, the [Om. SX.] which it [Om. NOT.] is not leueful to vs for [Om. SX.] to receyue, nether do, sythen we ben Romayns. [verse 22] And the peple ran [and magistratis runnen V.] aȝens hem [hym T.] `and magestratis [Om. V. and the magistratis X.] , and `the cootis of hem kitt [whanne thei hadden to-rent the cootis of hem V.] , thei comaundiden hem for [Om. SX.] to be betyn with ȝerdis. [verse 23] And whanne thei hadden ȝouun to hem many woundis, thei senten hem into prisoun, comaundinge [and comaundiden V.] to the kepere, that he dili|gentli schulde kepe hem. [verse 24] The [Om. VX.] which, whanne he hadde takyn such a precept, sente hem into the ynner prisoun, and streynede the feet of hem in a tree. [verse 25] Sothli at mydnyȝt Poul and Silas worschipinge [worschipiden and V.] , herieden [preyseden O.] God; and thei that weren in keping [the kepynge O.] herden hem. [verse 26] Forsoth sudenli a greet erthe mouyng is [was V.] maad, so that the foundementis of the prisoun weren mou|yd. And anoon alle the [Om. OSX.] doris ben [weren V.] openyd, and the [Om. V.] bondis of alle ben [weren V.] vn|bounden. [verse 27] Sothli the kepere of the [Om. V.] pri|soun maad [was maad V.] wakyn, and seynge [siȝ V.] the ȝatis of the prisoun openyd, the [and with the V.] swerd drawun out, wolde [he wolde V.] sle hym silf, wenynge [and gesside that V.] the boundyn men `for to haue [to haue SX. hadden V.] fled. [verse 28] Forsoth Poul criede with greet vois, seyinge, Do thou no thing of yuel to thi silf, forsoth [for V.] alle we ben here. [verse 29] And `liȝt axid, he [he axide liȝt, and V.] en|tride [went O.] yn [Om. V.] , and `tremblinge he fel [tremblide and felde V.] down to Poul and Silas at the feet. [verse 30] And he `bringinge hem [brouȝte him V.] withoute forth, seith [and seide V.] ,

Lordis, what bihoueth me for [Om. SX.] to do, that I be maad saf? [verse 31] And thei seiden, Bileue thou in to the Lord Jhesu, and thou schalt be saf, and thin hows. [verse 32] And thei spaken to him the word of the Lord, with alle that weren in his hous. [verse 33] And he takinge [took V.] hem in `the ilke [thilke MP. that X.] hour of nyȝt, waischide [wesh SX. and waschide V.] her woundis [hondis K.] . And he is [Om. G pr. m. T. was V.] bap|tysid, and al his hous anoon. [verse 34] And whanne he hadde led hem into his hous, he sette [settide V.] to hem a boord. And he gladide [was glad V.] with al his hous, bileuynge [and bileeuede V.] to God. [verse 35] And whanne day was maad, the magistratis senten `lit|toures, that ben mynistris of ponysching [tormentoures O.] , seyinge [and seide V.] , Dismitte [Dismitte ȝee GMNOPQST. Dismytte thou V. Delyuere ȝe X.] , `or delyuere, ȝe [Om. GMNOPQTVX.] tho men. [verse 36] Forsoth the keper of prisoun telde thes wordis to Poul, For [That OV.] the magestratis han sent, that ȝe be delyuered; now ther|fore `ȝe goynge [go ȝe V.] out, goth [go AGMNOPTY. and goo V.] in pees. [verse 37] For|soth Poul seide to hem, Thei senten into prisoun vs, betyn opynly vndampnyd, men Romayns, and now priuely thei casten vs [verse 38] out; not so, but come thei, and [Om. O.] thei [hem GMPT. her O. them S.] silf caste [and cast O.] vs out. Sothli the mynistris of peyne telden thes wordis to the mages|tratis; and thei dredden, herd [for thei herden V.] that thei weren Romayns. [verse 39] And thei comynge [camen and V.] , bi|secheden [bisoȝten SX.] hem, and thei ledinge [ledden V.] forth, preieden [and preieden V.] , that thei schulden go out of the citee. [verse 40] Sothli thei goynge [ȝeden V.] out of the [Om. O.] prisoun, `entriden into [and entriden to V.] Lidie. And, `the bretheren seyn [whanne thei siȝen britheren V.] , thei coumfortiden hem, and wenten forth.
