[verse 28] Forsoth aftir this dom [is the dom V.] , so and Crist was offrid onys, for [Om. SX.] to auoyde [voiden S. avoid, or do away T.] the synnes of many men; the secunde tyme [Om. X.] he schal appere withoute synne to men abydinge him into the [Om. V.] heelthe [heste Q.] `of hem by feith [Om. V.] . [verse 1] [In V the chapter begins here.] Forsoth the lawe [old lawe T.] hauynge schadowe of goodis to comynge [comen SX.] , not `the ilke [that X.] ymage of thingis, `by alle ȝeeris by the ilke same [Om. V. bi alle ȝeris bi tho same X.] oostis [oostis, that the lawe comaundith T. Om. V.] , whiche [Om. V. that X.] `thei offren withoute ceess|inge [Om. V.] , `neuere may [may neuere V.] make men `comynge [verse 2] nyȝ [neiȝinge V.] perfyt [perfyt, bi thilke same sacr. whiche thei offren without ceesing bi alle ȝeeris V.] ; ellis thei schulden haue ceess|id for [Om. SX.] to be offrid, therfore that the wor|schipers clensid oonys, hadden no [not ferthermore V.] con|science of synne ferthermore [Om. V.] . [verse 3] But in hem [hem by oft offring T.] mynde of synnes [synne T.] is maad by alle ȝeeris. [verse 4] Forsoth [For V.] it is ynpossible synnes [that synnes V.] for [Om. STVX.] to [Om. V.] be don [Om. N.] awey by blood of bolis, and buckis of geet. [verse 5] Therfore he entrynge into the world, seith, Thou woldist not `an oost [sacrifice V.] , `or sacrifice [Om. GMOPTVX.] , and offring; for|soth [but V.] thou [Om. T.] hast [schalt G. Om. T.] shapyn [Om. T.] a body [body to suffre and dye T.] to [thou hast ȝouun to T.] me; [verse 6] and [Om. V.] brent sacrificis for [and for V.] synne [synnes X.] pleside not to thee. [verse 7] Thanne I seyde, Loo! I come; in the heed [heuyd GT. bigynnyng O.] , `or bigynnyng [Om. GMOPX. or the bygynnynge Y.] , of the book it is writyn of me, that I do thi wille [wille, God T. wille, thou God V.] .
