X.] , lordis, dispise not [hem not QT.] , for thei ben britheren [britheren in God QT.] ; but more serue thei [thei hem QT.] , for thei ben feithful and loued, the [Om. V.] whiche ben parceners of benefice [benefices GOT.] , `or good doyng [Om. OVX. or good doynge, that is now and for to cumme QT.] . `These thingis teche thou [Teche thou thes thingis V.] , and `these thingis moneste thou [moneste thou thes thingis V.] . [verse 3] If ony man techith [teche T.] othirwyse, and acordith not to the hoole [holi AN. hoolsum VX.] , `or holsum [Om. [verse 6] Forsoth a greet wynnyng [euerelastynge wynnynge QT.] is pite, with sufficience. [verse 7] Forsoth [For V.] we brouȝten [broȝten in X.] no thing [thing in G.] in to this world, no dowte, for [that V.] we mown not bere awei ony thing. [verse 8] For|sothe [But we V.] hauynge foodis, and with what thingis [thing O.] we schulen be clothid [clad SX. hilid V.] , `with these

[verse 11] Forsoth [But V.] thou, man of God, fle thes thingis; sothli sue thou riȝtwysnesse, pite, feith, charite [and charite T.] , pacience, myldenesse. [verse 12] Stryue thou [thou, with discrecioun of deed, that it profite to other QT.] a good strif of [of the S.] feith, catche euer|lastyng lyf, into which thou art clepid, and hast knowlechid a good knowleching bi|fore many witnesses. [verse 13] I comaunde to thee bifore God, that quykeneth alle thingis, and [Om. M. in N. and bifore V.] Crist Jhesu, that ȝelde [ȝeeldide GPQTV. hath ȝelden N.] a witnessing vndir Pilat of Pounce, a good confessioun, [verse 14] that thou kepe the comaundement with|outen wem, irreprehensible, til into the [verse 15] comyng of oure Lord Jhesu Crist; whom the blessid and aloone [all oon G.] myȝty kyng of kingis, and Lord of lordis, schal schewe in his [his couenable QT. Om. SY.] tymes. [verse 16] The [Om. V.] which aloone hath im|mortalite [vndeadlynesse GMPQTV.] , and dwellith in liȝt, to which [whome QT.] no man may come [come, with outen hym QT.] ; whom noon of men syȝ [sawe as he is QT.] , but nether may se; to whom glorie, and honour, and empire into [be V.] withouten ende. [verse 17] Amen. Comaunde thou to `riche men [the riche men GMY. the rijche V.] of this world, for [Om. SX. that V.] `to not sauere [thei vndirstonde not V.] , `or vndirstonde [Om. T.] thingis [verse 18] plenteuously for [Om. SX.] to vse; for [Om. SX.] to do wel, for [Om. SX.] to be maad riche in goode werkis, [verse 19] liȝtli for [Om. SX.] to ȝyue, for [Om. SX.] to comune, for [Om. SX.] to tresoure to hem silf a good foundement into tyme to [Om. Y.] comynge [comen SX.] , that thei catche

euerlasting lyif. [verse 20] Thou Tymothe, kepe the [thi GMPQT.] depoost, or thing bitakun to thee, eschewinge [of schewid G. ethchewyng T.] curside noueltees [nouelte QT.] of [or P.] voyces, and opynyouns [opynioune OX.] of fals name of kun|nyng [verse 21] ; the [Om. V.] which [whiche kunnynge QT.] `sum men [summen AGMPQTV. summe NS.] bihetynge [bileuynge Q.] , falliden [fellen GMPQX. fallen ST.] doun aboute the feith. The grace of God with [be with V.] thee.
