OQTX.] , [verse 4] not coueitous, wel rewlynge his hous, hauynge sones suget with al chas|tite [charite Q.] ; [verse 5] forsoth if ony man kan not go|uerne his hous [house, of litil meynee QT.] , how schal he haue dili|gence [dili|gence, or keepynge QT.] [verse 6] of the chirche of God [God, wherynne ben manye and dyuerse? QT.] ? not [He that schal be a bischop or prest, schulde be preued sad in byleue, not QT.] newe conuertid into [to the AGMNOSTVX. to Q.] feith, lest he [he be NPQT.] borun vp into pride, falle [and falle QT.] into the [Om. GMPQTVX.] of hem that ben withoute forth, that he falle not into schenschip [repreue GQT. reprof MP.] , `or reprof [or schenschip GMP. Om. OQTX.] , and into the [Om. OX.] snare of the deuyl. [verse 8] Also `it byhoueth [Om. X.] dekenes for [Om. SX.] to be chast, not dowble tung|id, not ȝouun `to moche [myche to V.] wyn, not suynge [folowynge GMPQT.] [verse 9] foul wynnyng; hauynge the mysterie [ministerie O. priuytee QT.] of feith in clene conscience. [verse 10] And forsoth be thei proued first, that [and V.] thei mynystre so, hauynge no [not QT.] cryme [greet gilt QT.] , `or greet synne [Om. QTX.] . [verse 11] Also `it bihoueth [Om. OX.] wymmen for [Om. SX.] to be chast, not bacbitinge, sobre, feithful in alle thingis. [verse 12] Dekenes be thei [Om. V.] hosebondis of o wyf; the [Om. V.] whiche dekenes [Om. X.] gouerne wel her sones and her housis. [verse 13] Sothli [For V.] thei that `schulen mynistre [mynistren V.] wel, schulen gete a [and G pr. m.] good degree to hem silf, and moche trist in the feith, that is in Crist Jhesu. [verse 14] Sone Tymothe, I write to thee thes thingis, hopinge me for [Om. SX.] to come soone to thee; [verse 15] forsoth [for V pr. m.] if I schal tarie, that thou wite, how it bihoueth thee for [Om. SX.] to lyue in the hous of God, that is the chirche of quyk God, a piler and sadnesse of treuthe.
