[verse 1] Sones, obeische [obeie T.] ȝe to ȝoure [Om. X.] fadir [faderes O.] and modir [moderes O. modir of ȝou X.] , in the Lord; forsothe [for whi V.] this thing is iust, `or riȝtful [Om. OQTX.] . [verse 2] Honoure thou thi fadir and thi [Om. G pr. m. S.] modir, that is the firste maunde|ment [verse 3] in the [Om. AGMNOPQSTVW.] biheeste [byheest, of the secounde table QT.] ; that it `be wel [wele be GMPQT.] to thee, and that thou be longe lyuynge on [vpon T.] the [Om. TX.] erthe. [verse 4] And, ȝe [Om. V.] fadris, nyle ȝe terre ȝoure sones to wraththe [wrathfulnesse V.] ; but norische ȝe [Om. T.] hem in the discipline [teching V.] and correccioun [corepcioun KV pr. m.] , `or chastysing [Om. OX.] , of the Lord. [verse 5] Seruauntis, obeysche [obeie TX.] ȝe [Om. Y.] to fleishly lordis with drede [loue, drede QT.] and tremblyng, in [with W.] symplenesse [symplenesse, or mekenesse QT.] of ȝoure [verse 6] herte [hertes OS pr. m.] , as to Crist; not seruynge at yȝe [the eȝe STV.] , as plesynge to men, but as seruauntis of Crist; doynge the will of God `of ynwitt [bi discre|cioun V.] , [verse 7] `or resoun [Om. OX.] , with good will seruynge as [verse 8] to the Lord, and not to men; witynge that ech man, what euere good thing [Om. T.] he

schal do, `this he schal resceyue [schal resceyue this V.] of the Lord, whethir seruaunt, whether fre man. [verse 9] And, ȝe lordis, do [doth N. do ȝee QSTXY pr. m.] the same thingis [theng OQT.] to [in T.] hem, forȝyuynge manacis; witynge for [that bothe V.] her Lord and ȝoure is in heuenes, and takynge of persoones is not anentis God. [verse 10] Here aftirward, britheren, be ȝe comfortid in the Lord, and in the myȝt of his vertu. [verse 11] Clothe [Cloth|ith X.] ȝou with the armer [armes O.] of God, that ȝe mown stonde aȝens aspyingis [the aspyingis QT.] , `or asaylyngis [Om. OX.] , of the deuel. [verse 14] Therfore `stonde ȝe [stondith X.] , gird `aboute ȝoure [aboute in ȝoure A. aboue ȝoure K. aboute the O.] leendis in sothfastnesse, and clothid [clad SX.] the [with the NV.] haberioun [verse 15] of riȝtwysnesse, and `schood the feet [the feet schod GMPQT.] in makynge redy of [Om. N.] the gospel of pees [pees, that ȝe prechynge touche not erthely affeccioun QT.] ; [verse 16] in alle thingis takinge the [Om. N.] scheeld of feith, in the [Om. [verse 17] And take ȝe the helm [helm, that is, hope QT.] of heelthe, and the swerd of the Gost, that is, the word of [verse 18] God; by al preier and bisechinge preiynge al tyme in spirit, and [Om. SWXY. hym, [it T] that is, in that spirit QT.] wakynge in al bysynesse, and byseching for alle hooly [seyntis N. holy men QTV.] , [verse 19] and for me; that word [the woord of God N. the word Q.] be ȝouun to me in openynge of my mouth, with trist for [Om. SX.] to make knowun the mysterie [mysterie, or priuytee QT.] of the gos|pel [verse 20] , for which [whiche gospel Q.] I am sett in legacie [message O.] , `or message [Om. OX.] , in this [a V.] cheyne; so that in it I be hardy for [Om. SX.] to speke, as it bihoueth me [me to speke out; the woord of God mai not be bounden N.] . [verse 21] Forsothe that and ȝe wite, what thingis

ben aboute me [Om. T.] , what I schal [Om. V.] do, Titicus, my moost dere brother, and trewe myn|istre in the Lord, schal make alle thingis [verse 22] knowun to ȝou; whom I sente to ȝou in|to [for V.] this same thing, that ȝe knowe what thingis ben aboute vs, and [Om. GMNPQT.] that he com|forte ȝoure hertis. [verse 23] Pees to britheren, and charite, with feith of God oure fadir, and of the Lord Jhesu Crist. [verse 24] Grace with alle men [Om. G pr. m. men. Amen.
