[verse 1] Britheren, and if a man be bifore [fore G pr. m.] occu|pied, `or ouercomen [Om. X.] , in ony gilt, `or tres|pas [Om. OX.] , ȝe that ben spiritual, teche [techeth PQX.] siche a maner man in [in the X.] spirit of softnesse, `or meke|nesse [Om. GMOPQX.] , biholdinge thi silf, that and [Om. K.] thou be not temptid [temptid, fallynge in the same wyse Q.] . [verse 2] Bere ȝe chargis [the chargis S.] the to|thir of the tothir [tother, `or eche of other O.] , and so ȝe schulen ful|fille [fille V.] the lawe of Crist. [verse 3] Forwhi if ony man gessith him silf [Om. G pr. m.] for [Om. SX.] to be ouȝt, whanne he is noȝt, he disceyueth him silf. [verse 4] Forsoth ech man proue his owne werk [warkes O.] , and so he schal haue glorie oonly [Om. Q.] in hym silf, and not in an othir [other man O.] . [verse 5] Forsoth [Forwhi V.] ech man schal bere his owne charge. [verse 6] Forsoth he that is tauȝt by word, comune to [with V.] him that techith him, in alle good thingis. [verse 7] Nyle ȝe erre, God is not scornyd; [verse 8] for|sothe [forwhi V.] what thingis a man `schal sowe [sowith V.] , and [also V.] thes thinges [thing K. Om. M.] he schal repe. For [Forsothe X.] he

that sowith in his fleisch, and [Om. STWXY. also V.] of the fleisch he [Om. GMNOPQV.] schal repe corupcioun; forsoth he that sowith [Om. Q.] in spirit, of the spirit schal repe euerlastyng lyf. [verse 9] Forsoth we doynge good, fayle [fayle we Q.] not; sothli [for V.] in his tyme we schulen repe, not faylinge. [verse 10] Therfore the while we han tyme, worche we good to alle men; forsoth [but V.] moost to the houshold meyne of the feith. [verse 11] Se ȝe, with what ma|ner lettris I haue writun to ȝou by myn hond [hond, that ȝe be not disceyuede by other false lettris Q.] . [verse 12] Sothli who euere wolen plese in fleisch, thes constreynen ȝou for [Om. SX.] to be cir|cumsidid, oonly that thei suffre not [not of Jewis Q.] the [Om. G pr. m. MPQ.] persecucioun of Cristis cross. [verse 13] Forsoth [For V.] neither thei that ben circumsidid kepen the lawe; but thei [thei that V.] wolen ȝou for [Om. X.] to be cir|cumsidid, that thei glorie [haue glorie V.] in ȝoure fleisch. [verse 14] Forsoth [But V.] be it ferr to me for [Om. SX.] to glorie [haue glorie V.] , no but in the [Om. N.] cross of oure Lord Jhesu Crist [Om. O.] , by whom the world is crucified to me, and I to the world. [verse 15] Forsothe [For V.] in Crist Jhesu nethir circumcisioun is ouȝt worth, nether prepucie, `that is, maner of hethen men [that is, heithen men [mennus MP] custome GMPQ. Om. OSX.] , but a newe creature. [verse 16] And who euere schulen [Om. V.] suwe this rewle, pees vpon [on SVX.] hem, and mercy, and vpon [on VX.] Israel of God. [verse 17] Fro hennis forth no man be heuy to me; for|soth [for V.] I bere in my body the tokenis [toknys, or woundis Q.] of oure Lord Jhesu Crist. [verse 18] The grace of oure Lord Jhesu Crist with [be with V.] ȝoure spirit, bri|theren. Amen.
