CAP. XXV.

[verse 1] And the Lord spak to Moyses, sei|ynge, [verse 2] Spek to the sones of Yrael, that thei taken to me the fyrst fruytis; of ech man that wilfuly offerith, ȝe shulen tak thilke thingis. [verse 3] And thes ben the thingis that ȝe shulen take, gold, and siluer, and [verse 4] brasse, and iasynkt, that is, `silk of violet blew [of colour lyke ayre E pr. m.] , and purpur, that is, sangwyn [of colour lyke blode E pr. m.] silk, and coctun twyes died, that is, silke `of flawme colour [mene bytwix reed and ȝalow E pr. m.] , and biys, that is, the [of whyte colour E pr. m.] fynest lynen [lyne BE sec. m.] clooth of Egipte, and heeris [verse 5] of geyt, and skynnes of wetheres maad reed, and skynnes iacynktynes [of iacynctynes B.] , and trees [verse 6] of Sychym, and oyle to make liȝtes, and swete smellynge thingis into oynement [oynmentes D.] , [verse 7] and ensensis of good smel, onychen

stoonus and gemmes to anowrn ephoth, that is, a preestis ouermest clothing, that we cleepen a coope, and the racionale, that is, the clooth in the brest of the coope, and in the brest of the preest. [verse 8] And thei shulen make to me a seyn|tuarye, and Y shal dwelle in the myddil [verse 9] of hem, after al the liknes of the taber|nacle that Y shal shewe to thee, and of alle the vessels into the heriynge of it. [verse 10] And thus ȝe shulen make it; ȝe shulen ioyne of the trees of Sychym an arke, whose lengthe haue two cubites and an half, the brede o cubijt and an half, the heiȝt o cubijt also and an half. [verse 11] And thow shalt gilte it with moost clene gold with ynne and with oute; and thou shal make aboue a goldun coroun bi enuy|roun, [verse 12] and foure goldun cerclis, the whiche thow shalte putte vp on the foure cor|ners of the arke; be there two cercles in `that o [the to BDEFH.] syde, and two in `that other [the tother BDEFH.] . [verse 13] And thow shalt make berynge staues of the trees of Sychym, and thow shalt [verse 14] couere hem with gold, and bryng yn thurȝ the cerclis that ben in the sides of the [verse 15] arke, that it be born in hem, the which euermore shal be in the cerclis, ne eny tyme shal be drawun out of hem. [verse 16] And thow shalt putte in to [Om. B.] the arke the wit|nessyng, that Y shal ȝyue to thee. [verse 17] And thow shalt make a propiciatorye, that is, a place of purchasyng mercy, of moost cleene gold; the lengthe of it shal holde two cubitis and an half, and the brede of it o cubijt and an half. [verse 18] And two goldun cherubyns [cherubyn BDEFH.] and forgid with hamers, thow shalt make on either party of the preiyng [verse 19] place; that o cherubyn be in the o syde [the ton BDE pr. m. FH.]

[verse 20] of `Goddis answeryng place [the preying place E pr. m.] , and `that othere [the tother BDEFH.] in `that othere [the tother BDEFH.] , that thei coueren either syde of the propiciatorye, strecch|ynge out the wenges, and couerynge `Goddis answeryng place [the preying place E pr. m.] ; and beholde thei hem seluen togidere [to togidere A.] , the cheeres turned into the propiciatorie, with the whiche is to be couered the arke of the [verse 21] Lord, in the whiche thow shalt putte the witnessyng, that Y shal ȝyue to thee. [verse 22] Fro thens Y shal comaunde, and speke to thee vpon the propiciatorye, `that is, and [and also E pr. m.] fro the myddil of the two cheru|byns [cherubyn BDEFH.] , that shulen be vpon the arke of witnessyng, alle thingis that I shal co|maunde bi thee to the sones of Yrael. [verse 23] And thow shalt make a meet bord of the trees of Sichym, hauynge two cubitis `of lengthe [o length BDEFH.] , and in brede o cubiyt, and in heiȝt o [a E.] cubijt and an half. [verse 24] And thow shalt gilte it with moost purid gold, and thow shalt make to it by enuyroun a [verse 25] goldun mergyn; and to thilk mergyn eueramong grauen [a grauen E.] coroun with foure fingur mele heiȝt, and vpon it another goldun coroun. [verse 26] And foure goldun cerclis thou shalt greithe, and thow shalt putte hem in the foure corners of the same bord, bi eche feet. [verse 27] Vnder the corouns [corners A.] shulen be goldun cerclis, that beryng staues mowen be put thurȝ hem, and the bord may be born. [verse 28] Thilke berynge staues thow shalt make of the trees of Sychym, and thow shalt enuyroun with gold, to `be born [beer E pr. m.] the bord. [verse 29] And thow shalt greithe eysel vesselis, and phiols, censures, and litil cuppis, in the whyche `sacrifices of lycours ben to be offred [ben sacrifyses of offryng E pr. m.] , of moost clene gold. [verse 39] And thow shalt putte vpon the bord looues of propicisioun, euermore in my siȝt. [verse 31] And thow shalt make a can|delstik

`betun out with hamers [ȝeten E pr. m.] , of moost cleene gold, the staf of it, and the [Om. D.] ȝerdes, cuppes [the cuppes D.] , and litil balles, and lilyes goynge out of it. [verse 32] Six ȝerdes shulen goon out of the sides, thre of `that o [the too BDEFH.] side, and thre of `that other [the tother BDEFH.] . [verse 33] Thre cuppes as into [the E pr. m.] maner of a note bi eche ȝerdes, and the litil balles togidere, and lylye, and the same wyse three cuppes at the lyknesse of a note in `that other [the tother BDEFH.] ȝerde [syde A.] , and balles, and lilye [lylyes D.] ; and this shal be the werk of six ȝerdes, that ben to be brouȝt forth out of the candelstaf. [verse 34] In that forsothe candelstik shulen be foure cuppes in ma|ner of a note, and balles bi eche and [verse 35] lilies; and the balles vndur the two ȝerdes bi thre places, the whiche six to gidere ben maad, goynge forth from o candelstaf; [verse 36] and the balles thanne, and the ȝerdes of it shulen be, al `betun out [forgid E pr. m.] of moost puyr gold. [verse 37] And thow shalt make seuen lan|ternes, and thow shalt put hem vpon the candelstik, that thei liȝten eche aȝens other. [verse 38] Candelquenchers, and forsothe where the snoffes ben quenchid, be thei maad of moost puyr gold. [verse 39] And al the weiȝt of the candelstyk with alle his ves|sels shal haue a talent of moost clene gold. [verse 40] Bihold and do after the sawmplere, that to thee is shewid in the hil.
