[verse 1] Bigynne we eftsoone for [Om. SX.] to comende, `or preise [Om. OX.] , vs [or G pr. m. oure MPT.] silf? or wher we neden, as summe [summe men N. summen MQV.] , preisynge lettris [pistlis V.] to ȝou, or of ȝou? [verse 2] Ȝe ben oure [ȝoure A.] pistle [epistil S.] , writun in ȝoure [oure NV.] hertis, the [Om. V.] which is kowd [knowen V.] and radd of [verse 3] alle men; ȝe [And ȝe ben V] maad [Om. G pr. m.] opyn, for ȝe ben the pistle [epistel OSX.] of Crist mynistrid [which pistle is mynystrid V.] of vs, and wri|tun, not with [of MOQT.] enke, but by [Om. V.] the spirit of quyk God; not in stoony tablis, but in fleischly tablis of herte. [verse 4] Forsoth we han [verse 5] such trist by Crist to God; not that we ben sufficient for [Om. SX.] to thenke ony thing of vs [vs self GMPQT.] , as of [Om. V.] vs, but oure sufficience is of God. [verse 6] The [Om. V.] which and made vs able myn|istris of the newe [Om. P.] testament, not bi let|tre, but by spirit; for [forsothe Q.] the lettre sleith, forsoth the spirit quykeneth. [verse 7] For if the mynistracioun of deeth defformyd by let|tris in stoones was in glorie, so that the [Om. V pr. m.] children of Israel myȝten not biholde in to the face of Moyses, for the glorie of his cheere, the [Om. V.] which glorie [Om. SX.] is auoydid [now auoidid S.] , [verse 8] hou not more the mynistracioun of spirit schal be in glorie? [verse 9] Forwhi if the myn|istracioun of dampnacioun is [was V.] in glorie, moche more the mynisterie, `or seruynge [Om. OX.] , of riȝtwysnesse is plenteuous in glorie.
