[verse 1] Therfore what schulen we seye? Schu|len we dwelle in synne, that grace be plenteuous? [verse 2] Ferr be it. Sothli [For V.] we [hou schulen we V.] that [Om. [verse 5] Forsoth [For V.] if we `plauntid to gidere [togidere plauntid GMP.] ben maad to the liknesse of his deeth, also and we schulen ben of his [Om. AGMPQSVWX sec. m. Y. the O.] [verse 6] risyng aȝen; witinge [witinge this thing V.] that oure oolde man is to gidere crucifyed, that the body of synne be distroyed, that we serue no more to [Om. S.] synne. [verse 7] Sothli [For V.] he that is deed `to synne [Om. V.] , is iustified fro synne. [verse 8] Forsoth if we ben deed with [to W.] Crist, we bileuen that also [alle WX.] we schulen lyue to gidere with [verse 9] him; witinge for Crist, rysinge aȝen fro deede spiritis [Om. X.] , now deieth not, deeth schal no more lordschipe [haue lordschipe V.] to [on V.] him. [verse 10] Forsoth `he that [that he GMPV.] is [was V.] deed to synne, he is [was V.] deed oonys; sothli `he that [that he GMPV.] lyueth, he [Om. X.] lyueth to God. [verse 11] So and ȝe deme [demeth X.] ȝou [to ȝou QWX.] for [Om. SX.] to be deed sothli to synne, forsoth [but V.] lyuynge to God in Jhesu Crist oure Lord. [verse 12] Therfore regne not [noo V.] synne in ȝoure [oure QSX pr. m.] deedly body, that ȝe obeische to his coueitingis. [verse 13] But neither ȝyue ȝe ȝoure membris aarmours of wick|idnesse to synne, but ȝyue ȝe ȝou [ȝoure GMNP.] self to God, as [as thei that lyuen V.] of deed men lyuynge [Om. NV.] , and ȝoure membris armers of riȝtwisnesse to God. [verse 14] Forsothe synne schal not [no more W.] lordschipe [haue lordschipe V.] to [on V.] ȝou; sothli ȝe ben not vndir lawe [the law AG sec. m. MNOPSV.] , but vndir grace. [verse 15] What therfore? Schulen we synnen [do synne V.] , for we ben not vndir the [Om. SWX.] lawe, but vndir grace? [verse 16] Ferr be it. Witen [Wenen V.] ȝe not, for to whom ȝe ȝyuen ȝou ser|uauntis for [Om. synne, ben maad seruauntis of riȝtwys|nesse. [verse 19] I seie mannis thing, for the in|firmite, `or vnstabilnesse [Om. X.] , of ȝoure [the O. oure P.] fleisch. Sothli [Forsoth O.] as ȝe han ȝouun ȝoure membris for [Om. SX.] to serue to vnclennes, and wickid|nesse to wickidnesse, so now ȝyue ȝe [Om. W.] ȝoure membris for [Om. OSX.] to serue to riȝtwysnesse in to hoolynesse. [verse 20] Forsothe [For V.] whanne ȝe weren seruauntis of synne, ȝe weren fre of riȝtwysnesse [riȝtfullnesse V sup. ras.] . [verse 21] Therfore what fruyt hadden ȝe thanne [Om. G pr. m.] in tho [to tho N. to O.] thingis, in whiche ȝe schamen now? `Now therfore [Forwhi V.] the ende of hem is deeth. [verse 22] Forsoth now ȝe dely|uered fro synne, `maad sotheli [and maad V.] seruauntis to God, han ȝoure fruyt in to [Om. QSW.] hoolynesse, the ende forsoth euerlastyng lyf. Treuli the hyris of synne, deeth [ben deeth O. is deeth V.] ; the grace of God, euerlasting [is euerlasting V.] lyf in `Crist Jhesu [Jhesu Crist Q.] oure Lord.
