[verse 1] `And so [Therfore V.] , britheren, I biseche ȝou by the mercy of God, that ȝe ȝyue ȝoure bo|dyes a lyuynge oost, `or sacrifice, hooly [or holy sacrifice GQ. holi X.] , plesynge to God, ȝoure seruyce resonable. [verse 2] And nyle ȝe be confoormed, `or maad lyk [Om. OX.] , to this world, but `be ȝe [beth X.] refoormed in newenesse of ȝoure witt, that ȝe proue which is the wille of God, good, and wel plesynge, and parfyt. [verse 3] Forsoth I seie, bi the grace that is ȝouun to me, to alle that ben among ȝou, for [Om. SX.] to not [Om. Q.] sauere, `or kunne [Om. OX.] , more than it [Om. O.] behoueth for [Om. SX.] to kunne [kunne, of priuey mysterie Q. sauouren X.] , but for [Om. SX.] to kunne to sobrenesse [sobrenesse, with outen presumpcioun Q.] ; and to ech man, as God hath departid the mesure of feith [the feith X.] . [verse 4] Forsoth as in oo [a O.] body we han many membris, sothli [forsothe O.] alle the mem|bris [verse 5] han not the same acte [dede VX.] , `or dede [Om. OVX.] ; so we `ben manye [many ben V.] oo body in Crist, ech for|sothe membris [ben membres OV.] `the tother [oon V.] of an other [anothir hauynge need or seruyce Q.] . [verse 6] Therfore hauynge [we hauynge Q. and we han V.] ȝiftis dyuersinge [diuerse O.] , vp grace [the grace Q.] that is ȝouun to vs, ether prophesie, [verse 7] vp resoun of feith; ether [other MP.] mynisterie, `or seruyce [Om. OTX.] , in mynistringe; ether [or S.] he that [verse 8] techith, in techinge; he that stireth soft|ly [sothely O.] , in exhortacioun, `or monestinge [Om. TX.] ; he that ȝyueth, in symplenesse; he that is byfore [prelat V.] , `or souereyn [Om. TX.] , in bisynesse; he that hath mercy, in gladnesse. [verse 9] Loue with oute feynynge, hatynge yuel, cleu|ynge [drawende X.] , `or faste drawynge [Om. OX.] , to good [verse 10] thing [Om. X.] ; louynge to gidere the charite of

britherhed; comynge bifore to gidere in [verse 11] honour, not slow in bisynesse, feruent [brenning O.] , `or brennynge [Om. OX.] , in spirit, seruynge to the [verse 12] Lord, ioyinge in hope, pacient in tribu|lacioun, [verse 13] bisy in preier, comunynge [comyng O.] to the nedis of seyntis, suynge, `or kep|inge [Om. OX.] , hospitalite, `that is, herboringe of pore men [Om. OVX.] . [verse 14] Blesse ȝe men pursuynge ȝou; blesse ȝe, and nyle ȝe curse, `or [verse 15] warie [Om. OTX.] ; for [Om. SX.] to ioye with men ioyinge, [verse 16] for [Om. SX.] to wepe with men wepinge; feelynge the same thing to gidere; not sauerynge, `or kunnynge [Om. OX.] , hiȝe thingis [thyngis, bostynge for these ȝyftis Q.] , but consent|ynge to meke thingis [thingis, folewynge meke fadris Q.] . Nyle ȝe be pru|dent [verse 17] anentis ȝou [ȝour NQT.] silf; to no man ȝeldinge yuel for yuel, purueyinge [but purueiende X.] goode thingis, not oonly bifore God, but also bifore alle men. [verse 18] If it may be don, that that [Om. P.] is of ȝou, hauynge pees with alle men. [verse 19] Ȝe moost dereworthe [dere GMOPQTVXY.] britheren, not defendynge, `or vengynge [Om. OX.] , ȝou [ȝour GMPQT.] silf, but `ȝyue ȝe [ȝiueth X.] place to ire [wraththe O.] , `or wraththe [Om. OTX.] ; forsoth [for V.] it is writun, The Lord seith, To me veniaunce [the veniaunce A pr. m.] , and I schal ȝelde aȝen [Om. V.] . [verse 20] But if thin enemye `schal hungre [hungrith V.] , feede thou [Om. X.] him; if he thirstith [schal therste O.] , ȝyue thou [Om. X.] drynke to hym; for|sothe [for V.] thou [Om. X.] doynge `thes thingis [this thing V.] schalt [thou shalt X.] gidere to gedre colis on his heed [heued G.] . [verse 21] Nyle thou be ouercome of yuel thing [Om. VX.] , but ouer|come thou yuel thing [Om. VX.] in [bi V.] good thing [Om. VX.] .
