[verse 1] Aftir thes thingis was a feeste day of Jewis, and Jhesu wente vp to [in to M.] Jerusa|lem. [verse 2] Forsoth in [at QSW.] Jerusalem is a `stond|ing watir of beestis [stondende watir S. stondinge watir W.] , that in Ebrew is named Bethsayda, hauynge fiue `litle ȝatis [litil ȝatis, or entrees W.] . abidinge the stiring of the watir. [verse 4] For|sothe the aungel of the Lord `aftir tyme [aftir the time ordeyned Q. aftir that tyme W pr. m.] cam doun in to the stonding watir, and the watir was moued; and he that first cam doun in to the sisterne, aftir the [Om. SW.] mouyng of the watir, was maad hool of `what euere [what W.] siknesse he was holdun [holdyn with W pr. m.] . [verse 5] Forsothe sum man was there, hauynge eiȝte and thritti ȝeeris [ȝeer AGMNQSTVWY.] in his syknesse. [verse 6] Whanne Jhesu hadde seyn him liggynge [liende S.] , and hadde knowe, for now he hadde moche tyme, he seith to him, Wolt thou be maad hool? [verse 7] The syke man answeride to him, Lord, I haue not a man that whanne the water `schal be troublid [is troublid A pr. m. GQSTWXY. is turblid MN.] , he sende me in to the sisterne; forsoth the while I com, another goth down bifore me. [verse 8] Jhesu seith to him, Ryse vp, taak thi bed, and wandre. [verse 9] And a non the man is maad hool, and took vp his bed, and wandride. And saboth was in that day. [verse 10] Therfore the Jewis seyden to him that was maad hool, It is saboth, it is not leefful to thee, for [Om. SVX.] to take thi bed. [verse 11] He answeride to hem, He that maade me hool [saf G pr. m. MTXY.] , seide to me, Taak thi bed, and wandre. [verse 12] Therfore [Forsothe V.] thei axiden him, Who is that man, that seide to thee, Taak thi bed, and wandre? [verse 13] Sothli he that was maad hool, wiste not who it was. Forsothe Jhesu bowide him [Om. M.] fro the cum|pany `ordeyned, or sett [ordeyne X.] , in the [Om. W pr. m.] place. [verse 14] Aftirward Jhesu fond him in the temple, and seide to him, Lo! thou ert maad hool; now nyle thou do [Om. GMNPSTVWXY. now Q.] synne, leste ony thing worse bifalle to thee. [verse 15] `The ilke [That X.] man wente, and telde to the Jewis, for it was Jhesu that maad him hool. [verse 16] Therfore the [Om. N.] Jewis pursueden Jhesu, for he dide this thing in the [Om. now, and I worche [worche now Q.] . [verse 18] Therfore thanne the Jewis souȝten more for [Om. MSXY.] to slee hym, for not oonly he brak the saboth, but and [Om. V.] he seide his fadir God, makinge him euene to God. And so Jhesu answeride, [verse 19] and seide to hem, Treuli, treuli, I seie to ȝou, the sone may not of him silf do ony thing, no [not X.] but that [Om. W.] thing that he schal se the fadir doynge; what euere thingis sothli he doith, thes thingis and the sone also doith. [verse 20] Forsothe the fadir loueth the sone, and schewith to him alle thingis that he doith; and he schal schewe to him more [mo K pr. m.] workis than thes, that ȝe wondre. [verse 21] Forsothe as the fadir reysith deede men, and quykeneth, `so and [and SO W.] the sone quyken|eth whiche [whom AGMNPQSTWXY.] he wole. [verse 22] Sothli neither the fader iugeth ony man, but hath ȝouun al [verse 23] the dom to the sone, that alle [Om. V.] men honoure [honoureden W.] the sone, as thei honouren the fadir. He that honoureth not the sone, honoureth not the fadir that sente him. [verse 24] Treuli, treuli, I seye to ȝou, for he that heerith my word, and bileueth to him that sente me, hath euere lasting lyf, and [and he W pr. m.] cometh not in to dom, but passith [passide A sec. m. K.] fro deeth [the deeth T.] in to lyf. [verse 25] Treuli, treuli, I seye to ȝou, for the our cometh, and now it is, whanne deede men schulen heere the vois of Goddis sone, and thei that schulen [Om. GMNPQSTWXY.] heere, schulen lyue. [verse 26] Sothli as the fader hath lyf in him silf, so he ȝaf and to the [Om. K.] [verse 27] sone for [Om. SX.] to haue lyf in him silf; and he ȝaf to [Om. G pr. m. MNPQTXY.] him power for [Om. SX.] to make dom, for he is mannis sone. [verse 28] Nyle ȝe wondre this thing [forsothe T.] , for the [Om. of dom. [verse 30] I may not of mysilf do ony thing, but as I heere, I iuge, and my dom is iust, for I seke not my wille, but the will of the [that K.] fadir that sente me. [verse 31] If I bere witnessing of my silf, my witness|ing [verse 32] is not trewe; another is that berith witnessing of me, and I woot for his witnessing is trewe, that he berith of me. [verse 33] Ȝe senten to John, and he bar witnessing to the treuthe. [verse 34] Sothly I take not wit|nessing of man; but I seie thes thingis, that ȝe be saf. [verse 35] Sothli [Om. A pr. m. GMNPQSTVWXY.] he was a lanterne brennynge and schynynge, `or ȝyuynge liȝt [Om. QSWX.] ; forsothe ȝe wolden glade at oon [an AGMNPQSTVXY.] our in his liȝt. [verse 36] Sothli I haue [haue and Q.] more wit|nessing than John, forsoth the workis that my fadir ȝaf to [Om. [verse 37] And the fadir that sente me, he bar witnessing of me. Nethir ȝe herden euere his vois, nethir sayȝen his licnesse, `or foorme [Om. QX.] . [verse 38] And `ȝe han [that ȝe had W.] not his word dwell|inge in ȝou; for ȝe bileuen not to him, whom he sente. [verse 43] I cam in the name of my fadir, and ȝe token not me. If another schal come in his owne name, ȝe schulen receyue him. [verse 44] How mown ȝe bileue, that receyuen [receyuen, or taken QW pr. m.] glorie ech of other, and ȝe seken not the glorie that is of God aloone? [verse 45] Nyle ȝe gesse, that I am to accusinge [accuse GMNPQSTWXY.] ȝou anemptis the fadir; it is Moyses that accusith ȝou, in whom ȝe hopen. [verse 46] Forsoth if ȝe bileu|eden

to Moyses, perauenture ȝe schulden bileue and to me; sothli he wroot of me. [verse 47] Sothli if ȝe beleuen not to his lettris, how schulen ȝe bileue to my wordis?
