CAP. XVIII.
[verse 1] Whanne Jhesu hadde seid thes thingis, he wente out with his disciplis ouer the strond of Cedron, where was a ȝerd, `or a gardyn [Om. AGMNPQSTVWXY.] , in to which he entride, and his disciplis. [verse 2] Sothli and Judas, that bitrai|ede him, wiste the place, for ofte Jhesu cam to gidere thidur with his disciplis. [verse 3] Therfore whanne Judas hadde takun a cumpany of kniȝtis, and [Om. Q. and mynistris W pr. m.] of the [Om. MSW.] bischopis and Pharisees mynystris, he cam [cam thidur A pr. m. GMNPQSTWXY.] with lanternis, and brondis, and armys [armeres S.] . [verse 4] And so [Om. V.] Jhesu witinge alle thingis that weren to comynge [come GMNPQSTWXY.] on [vpon GMNPTWY. Om. Q.] him [Om. Q.] , wente forth, and seith to hem, Whom seken ȝe? [verse 5] Thei answeriden to him, Jhesu of Nazareth. Jhesu seith [seide Q.] to hem, I am. Forsoth and Judas that bitrayede hym, stood with hem. [verse 6] Therfore as he seide to hem, I am, thei wenten a bak, and felden doun in to erthe [the erthe MPQTWXY.] . [verse 7] Eft [Eftsone A pr. m. GMNPQSTWXY.] he axide [seide to S.] hem, Whom seken ȝe? Forsoth thei seiden, Jhesu Nazaren [of Nazaren K pr. m. W pr. m. of Nazareth X.] . [verse 8] He answeride to hem, I seide to ȝou, for I am; therfore if ȝe seken me, suffre ȝe thes to [for to MPQTWY.] go a wey. [verse 9] That the word which [the which A pr. m. GMPTWY.] he seide schulde be fillid [fulfild A pr. m. GMNPQSTWXY.] , For I loste not ony of hem, whiche [the which A pr. m. GMNPQSTWY.] thou hast ȝouun to me. [verse 10] Forsothe [Ther|fore A pr. m. GMNPQSTVWXY.] Symount Petre hauynge a swerd, drouȝ it [Om. K.] out, and smot the ser|uaunt of the bischop, and kitte of his litil [Om. W pr. m.]
