[verse 1] Forsothe bifore the feeste day of pask Jhesu witinge, for his our cometh, that he passe of [ouer K.] this world to the fadir, whanne he hadde [Om. Q.] loued hise that weren in the world, in to the ende he louede hem. [verse 2] And the souper maad, whanne the deuel hadde sent now in to the herte of Judas, `that Judas [Om. QSW.] of Symount Scarioth schulde [that he shulde Q. that Judas schulde S.] bi|traye [verse 3] him, he witinge for [that Q.] the fadur ȝaf alle thingis to him in to hondis [his hondis G sec. m. MPQW.] , and that he wente out fro God, and goth to God, [verse 4] risith fro the souper, and puttith his clothis; and whanne he hadde takun a lynnen cloth, he bifore girde him. [verse 5] Aftir|ward he sente water in to a basyn, and bigan for [Om. SX.] to waische disciplis [his disciplis GMPQSWXY.] feet, and to wype with the lynnen cloth, with which [the whiche Q.] he was bifore [Om. QW pr. m.] gird. [verse 6] Therfore he cam to Symount Petre, and Petre seith to him, Lord, `waischist thou [what thou waschist M.] to me the feet? [verse 7] Jhesu answeride, and seide to him, What thingis I do, thou woost not now; forsothe thou schalt wite aftirward. [verse 8] Petre seith to him, Thou schalt not waische to me the [Om. M.] feet, in to with outen ende. Jhesu answeride to him, If I schal not waische thee, thou schalt not haue part with me. [verse 9] Symount Petre seith to him, Lord, not oonly my feet, but and the [myn Q.] hondis and the heed. [verse 10] Jhesu seide to him, He that is waischun, hath no nede no [Om. QW pr. m.] but that he waische the feet, but he is clene al; and ȝe ben clene, but not alle. [verse 11] Forsothe he wiste [wiste wel MPTXY.] , who schulde bitraye him; therfore he seide, Ȝe ben not clene alle. [verse 12] Therfore aftir that he waischide [had waschen Q. wesh SX.] the feet of hem, he took his clothis; and whanne he hadde restid aȝen, eft he seide to hem, `Ȝe witen [Ȝe wyten not V. Wyten ȝe W.] what I haue done to ȝou. [verse 13] Ȝe clepen me maistir and lord, and ȝe seyn wel; forsoth I am. [verse 14] Therfore if I, lord and maistir,

[verse 17] If ȝe witen thes thingis, ȝe schulen be blessid, if ȝe schulen do hem. [verse 18] I seie not of alle ȝou, I woot whiche [the whiche A pr. m. GMNPTY. whom Q.] I haue chosun; but that the scripture be fillid [fulfilde GMNPQSTWXY.] , He that etith my breed, schal reyse his heele aȝens me. [verse 19] Treuli, treuli [Om. MPQTXY. made protestacioun, or witnessede N.] , and seide, Treuli, treuli I seie to ȝou, oon [for oon MPQTVWXY.] of ȝou schal bitraye me. [verse 22] Therfore the disciplis lokiden to gidere, doutynge of whom he seide. [verse 23] Therfore oon of his disciplis was restinge in the bosum of Jhesu, whom Jhesu louede. [verse 24] Therfore Symount Petre bekenyde to him, and seith to him, Who is it, of which [the whiche A pr. m. G pr. m. MNPQTY. whom G sec. m. SW.] he seith? [verse 25] And so whanne he hadde restid aȝen on the brest of Jhesu, he seith to him, Lord, who is it? [verse 26] Jhesu answeride, He it is, to whom I schal dresse breed dipped yn. And whanne he had `dippid yn [indippid MPQSW.] breed [breed, or wett [it Q] in wyn G sec. m. Q.] , he ȝaf to Judas of Symount Scariot. [verse 27] And aftir the morsel, thanne Sathanas entride in to him. And Jhesu seith to him, What thing [thingis A sec. m. MNPST.] thou dost, do thou [thou it QW pr. m. it X.] sunnere. pursis, that Jhesu hadde seid to him, Bye thou tho thingis, that ben nedeful to vs at the feeste day, or that he schulde ȝyue [haue ȝouen Q.] sum thing to nedy men. [verse 30] Therfore whanne he hadde take the morsel, he wente out a non; forsoth it was nyȝt. [verse 31] Therfore whanne he hadde gon out, Jhesu seide, Now mannis sone is clarified, and God is clarified in him. [verse 32] If God is clarified in him, and God schal clarifye him in him silf, and a non he schal clarifie him. [verse 33] Litil sones, ȝit a litil I am with ȝou; ȝe schulen seke me, and, as I seide to the Jewis, Whidur I go, ȝe mown not come; and to ȝou I seie now. [verse 34] I ȝyue to ȝou a newe maundement, that ȝe loue to gidere, as I louede ȝou, that and ȝe loue to gedere. [verse 35] In this thing alle men schulen knowe, for [that S.] ȝe ben my disciplis, if ȝe `schulen haue [haue Q.] loue [loued Q.] to gidere. [verse 36] Symount Petre seith to hym, Lord, whidir goist thou? Jhesu answeride, Whidir I go, thou maist [myȝt W.] not sue me now, but thou schalt sue aftir|ward. [verse 37] Petre seith to him, Whi may I not sue thee now? I schal putte my soule, `that is, lyf [that is, my lijf G sec. m. PW. Om. SX.] , for thee. [verse 38] Jhesu answeride, Thou schalt putte thi soule, `that is, lyf [that is, thi lijf G sec. m. PW. Om. X.] , for me? Treuli, treuli [Om. M.] , I seie to thee, the koc schal not crowe, til [to Q.] thou schalt denye me thries.
