[verse 1] Forsothe twelue [the twelue M. twelue the P.] apostlis clepid to gi|dere, Jhesu ȝaf to hem vertu and power on [vpon AGMNOPQTWY.] alle deuelis, and that thei schulde heele sykenessis [languyschyngis AGMPQSTWXY. languischis NO.] . [verse 2] And he sente hem for [Om. X.] to preche the kyngdom of God, and for [Om. SW pr. m. X.] to heele syke men. [verse 3] And he seith to hem, `Take ȝe no thing [No thing take ȝe XY.] in the [Om. K.] weye, nethir ȝerd, nethir [ne A sec. m. GMNOPQSTWXY.] scrippe, nethir breed, nethir [ne AGMNOPQSTWXY.]

money, and [Om. W.] nethir [ne MP.] haue ȝe twey [twe K. two MOPQTUWXY.] cootis. [verse 4] And in to what euere hous ȝe schulen entre, `dwelle ȝe [dwelleth X.] there, and go ȝe not out thennis. [verse 5] And who euere schulen [shal MPX.] not receyue ȝow, ȝe goynge out [out thens O.] of that citee schake [shaketh SX.] of also [al T.] the poudir of ȝoure feete in to witnessinge on [vpon AGMNOPQSTWY.] hem. [verse 6] Sothli thei gon out, cumpassiden [enuyrowneden AGMNPQSTWXY. enuyrouned O.] bi castels, euange|lisinge and heelinge euerewhere. [verse 7] Forsoth Eroude, `the fourthe prince [prince of the fourth part AMNPQTX. fourthe prince O. prince W. prince of the fourth part of Galilee G pr. m. Y.] , herde alle the [thes K. Om. GPSUVWX.] thingis that weren don of him [hem O.] , and [verse 8] he doutide, for that [Om. KVX.] it was seid of sum men [Om. O.] , for Joon roos [hath risen XY.] aȝen [Om. [verse 9] And Eroude seith, I haue bihedid [byheueded OY.] Joon; sothli who is this, of whom I heere thes [soche AGMNOQST. siche PY. suche WX.] thingis? And he souȝte for [Om. SX.] to se him. And he receyuyde hem, and spak to hem of the kingdom of God; and heelide hem that hadden nede of cure. [verse 12] Sothli the day bigan for [Om. STX.] to bowe doun, and the twelue comynge nyȝ seiden to him, Leeue the cumpanyes [companyes of pepul AGMNOPQSTWXY.] , that thei go|ynge `turne in to castels [in to castelis turne X.] and townes, that ben aboute, that thei fynde metis, for we ben here in a desert place. [verse 13] Forsothe he seith to hem, Ȝyue ȝe [Om. N.] to hem to [for to AGMNOPQTUVWY.] ete. And thei seiden, Ther ben not to vs more than fyue loouys and tweye [two GMOPQUWXY.] fischis, no [Om. weren almoost fyue thousynde. Forsothe he seith to his disciplis, Make [make ȝe AGMNOPSTW sec. m. XY. make we Q.] hem to [for to AGMNOPQTWY.] sitte to mete by feestis [Om. Q.] , fyftyes [fifties togidere U sec. m.] . [verse 15] And thei diden so, and thei maden alle men sitte [to sitte OSX.] to [at AGMNOPQSTUVWXY.] the mete. [verse 16] Forsothe fyue looues and tweye [two MPUWXY.] fysches takun, he byheld in to heuene, and blesside hem, and brak, and delide to his disciplis, that thei schulden putte [put to Q.] bifore the cumpanyes [cumpanye W.] . [verse 20] Sothli he seide to hem, But whom seye ȝe me to [for to AGMNOPQTWY.] be? Symound Petre answeringe seide, The [Om. S.] Crist of God. [verse 21] And he blamynge hem comaundide hem [Om. X.] that thei schulden [verse 22] seie to no man [man these thingis X.] , `and seith [sayinge AGMNOPQSTWXY.] `thes thingis [Om. X.] , For it bihoueth mannis sone to [for to AGMNOPTW.] suffre manye thingis, and to [for to AGMNOPTWY.] be repreued of the [Om. O.] eldere men, and of [Om. OTWXY. of the Q.] princes of prestis, and of scribis, and for [Om. SX.] to be slayn, and in [Om. GMOPQTWXY.] the thridde day to [for to AGMNOPQTWY.] ryse aȝen. [verse 23] For|sothe he seide to alle men, If ony man [Om. AGMNOPQSTWXY.] wole come aftir me, denye he him silf, and take he [Om. PUV.] his cross euery day, and sue he me. silf? [verse 26] Forwhi who that schal schame me and my wordis, and mannis sone schal schame him, whanne he schal come in his mageste, and of the fadir [fadris AGMNPQSTWXY.] , and of the [Om. [verse 27] Forsoth I seye to ȝou, verily ther ben summe stondinge here, whiche [the whiche AGMNOPQSTWY. that X.] schulen not taste [take O.] deeth, til thei seen the rewme of God. [verse 28] Sothli it was [is AG pr. m. MNOPQSTXY.] don aftir thes wordis almoost eiȝte dayes, and he took Petre and James and John, and he stiȝede in to an hil, that he schulde preie. [verse 30] And loo! tweye [two MPU passim. WXY.] men spaken with him, [verse 31] forsothe Moyses and Elye weren seyn in mageste; and thei seyden his goynge out [Om. [verse 32] Forsothe Petre, and thei that weren with him, weren greuyd [greuid, or heuyed Y.] with [or heuy of U sec. m. marg.] sleep, and thei wakinge syȝen his mageste, and tweye [tho two MPX. two WY.] men that stooden with him. K.] make we here thre tabernaclis, oon to thee, and [Om. UV.] oon to Moyses, and oon to Elye; not wit|inge what he schulde seye. [verse 34] Sothli him spekinge thes thingis, a cloude was [is A pr. m. G pr. m. MNOPQSTXY.] maad, and schadewide hem; and thei [Om. GMPXY.] dredden [Om. GMPUWXY.] , hem [Om. U.] entringe in to the clowde [cloude, thei dredden GMPUWXY.] . loo! a man of the cumpanye criede, sey|inge, Maistir, I biseche thee, byhold in to my sone, for he is `oon aloone [oonlepy AGMNOPQSTWXY.] to me; [verse 39] and lo! a spirit takith him, and sudenly he crieth, and hurtlith [hirtith A pr. m. NOT. hirtlith A sec. m. hirtith hym GMPQXY. hirtlith hym W.] down, and `to|drawith [disparplith, or to-drawith AGMNPQSTWY. disparplith, or trauaylith O. disparpileth X.] him with froth, and vnnethe he goth awey to-drawinge him. [verse 40] And I preiede thi disciplis, that thei schulde caste him out, and thei myȝten not. [verse 41] Sothli Jhesu answeringe seide to hem, A [O OQXY.] ! vnfeithful generacioun and weyward, hou longe schal I be anentis [at AGMNOPQSTWXY.] ȝou, and schal [Om. AGMNOPQSTWXY.] suffre ȝou? leed hidur thi [the K.] sone. [verse 42] And whanne he cam nyȝ, the fend [deuel AGMNOPQSTWXY.] hurlide [hirtled AGMNOPQSTUVXY.] him doun, and `to-brayd [disparplid AGMNOPQSTWXY.] . And Jhesu blamede the vn|clene spirit, and heelide the child, and ȝeld him to his fadir. [verse 43] Sothli alle men wondriden greetly in the greetnesse of God. And alle men wondringe [wondurden OX.] in alle thingis whiche [that AGMNOPQSTWXY.] he dide, he seide to his [verse 44] disciplis, Putte ȝe `thes wordis in ȝoure hertis [thes wordis in ȝoure hert O. in ȝoure hertis these wordis XY.] , for [sothly AGMNOPQSTUWXY.] it is to comynge [comme AGMNOPQSTWXY.] , that man|nis sone be bitrayed in to the hondis of men. [verse 45] And thei knewen not this word, and it was hid bifore hem, that thei feel|iden it [him O.] not; and thei dreden to [for to AGMNOPQTWY.] axe him of this word. [verse 46] Forsothe a thouȝt entride in to hem, who of hem schulde be more. [verse 47] And Jhesu seynge the thouȝtis of the herte [hertis KW.] of hem, takynge a child, settide [sette AGMNOPQSTWXY.] [verse 48] him bisydis him silf [Om. AGMNOPQSTWXY.] ; and seith [he saith Q. seide W.] to hem, Who euere schal receyue this child in my name, receyueth me; and who euere schal receyue me, receyueth hym that sente me; for whi he that is lesse among ȝou alle, is [this is AGMNOPQSTWXY.] the [Om. [verse 49] Forsoth John `answeringe seide [answerd, saiynge AGMNOPQSTWXY.] , Comaundour, we syȝen sum man castinge out fendis in thi name, and we han forbodyn him, for he sueth not thee with vs. [verse 50] And Jhesu seith to him, Nyle ȝe [ȝe not O.] forbede, forsothe he that is not aȝens

[verse 53] And thei receyueden not him, for the face `was of him [of him was GMPUWXY.] goynge in to Jeru|salem. [verse 54] Forsothe whanne James and John, his disciplis, hadden seyn, thei seiden, Lord, wolt thou `we seye [that we axe O. that we sey S.] , that fier come doun fro heuene, and waaste hem, `as Helye did [Om. A sec. m. KUV.] ? [verse 55] And he turned blamyde hem, seyinge, Ȝe witen not, whos spiritis [spirit Q sec. m.] [verse 56] ȝe ben; forsothe mannis sone cam not for [Om. MPSX.] to leese soulis [mennes soulis AGMNOPQTXY.] , but for [Om. X.] to saue [saue hem OQW pr. m. Y.] . And thei wenten in to another castel. [verse 57] Forsoth it was [is A pr. m. G pr. m. MNOPQSTXY.] don, hem [thei U.] walkynge in the weye, sum man seide to him, I schal sue thee, whidur euere thou schalt go. [verse 58] And Jhesu seide [saith AGMNOPQSTUVWXY.] to him, Foxis han dennys [dichis, and dennes AGMNPS. dyches QX. dichis, or dennes TWY.] , and briddis of the eyr han [Om. AGMNPQSTWXY.] nestis, but mannis sone hath not where [whereon O.] he schal [Om. AGMOPQTWXY. mai N.] reste his heed [heued OY.] . [verse 59] Forsothe he seide to another, Sue thou me. Sothli he seide, Lord, suffre me first to [for to AGMNOPQTUVWY.] go, and to [Om. AGMNOPQSTUVWXY.] burie my fadir. [verse 60] And Jhesu seide to him, Suffre that deede men burie her deede [deed men G pr. m. W.] ; but go thou, and telle the kyngdom of God. [verse 61] And anothir seide, Lord, I schal sue thee, but first suffre me to [for to AGMOPSTVW.] telle aȝen [Om. KUVX.] to hem that ben at home. [verse 62] Forsothe Jhesu seith [seide XY.] to him, No man sendynge his hond to the plouȝ, and bi|holdinge aȝen, is able to the rewme of God.
