[verse 1] And eft Jhesus bigan for [Om. SUVX.] to teche at the see; and myche cumpany `of peple [Om. UV.] is [Om. S pr. m. XY pr. m. was UV.] gedrid to hym, so that he styinge in to a boot, sat in the see, and al the cumpany `of peple [Om. UV.] was aboute the see, on the lond. [verse 2] And he tauȝte hem in parablis many thingis. And he seide to hem in his techynge, Heere ȝee. [verse 3] Loo! a `man sowynge [sower UV.] goth [gon O. wente UV.] out for [Om. X.] to sowe. [verse 4] And the while he sowith, `an other [summe UV.] seed felde aboute [bisidis UV.] the wey, and briddis of heuene, `or of the eire [Om. AOPTUVX.] , camen, and eeten it. [verse 5] For|sothe an other felde doun on stony placis, wher it had nat myche erthe; and anoon it sprong [is sprungun P.] vp, for it hadde nat [no GNU.] depnesse

of erthe. [verse 6] And whenne the sunne rose vp [Om. UV.] , it welwide for heete, and it dried vp, for it hadde not [no NUV.] roote. [verse 7] And an other felde doun into [among UV.] thornes, and thornes [the thornes UV.] stieden vp, and strangliden it, and it ȝaue not [no UV.] fruyt. [verse 8] And an other felde doun in to good lond, and ȝaue [it ȝaue PUV.] fruyt, styinge vp, and wexinge; and oon [anoon U.] brouȝte `thritty fold [thrithithe foold fruyt W sec. m.] , and oon sixtyfold, and oon an hun|dridfold. [verse 9] And he seide, He that hath eris `of heeryng [to heere UV.] , heere. [verse 10] And whenne he was singuler, `or by hym silf [ether by himself UV. Om. X.] , the [tho QW.] twelue that weren with hym axiden [askiden Q.] hym for [Om. SUVX.] to expowne the parable. [verse 11] And he seide to hem, To ȝou it is ȝouen for [Om. OSUVX.] to knowe the [Om. N.] mysterie, `or pryuite [Om. AX. or priuey thenge O.] , of the kyng|dam [rewme UV.] of God. Sothely [Forsothe UV.] to hem that ben with oute forth, alle thingis ben maad in [verse 12] parablis, that thei seynge se, and se nat, and thei heerynge heere, and vnderstonde not; that [lest UV.] sum tyme thei be [be not N.] conuertid, and synnes be forȝouen to hem. [verse 13] And he seith [seide UV.] to hem, Witen not ȝee this parable? and howe ȝee shulden knowe alle parablis? [verse 14] He that sowith, sowith a word. [verse 15] `These sothly [Forsothe these UV.] ben [it ben NUV.] that [that ben NUV.] aboute the weye, where the word is sowun; and whenne thei han herd, anoon [than O.] cometh Sathanas, and takith awey the [a Q.] word that [whiche UV.] is sowun in her hertis. [verse 16] And also [in lyk manere UV.] these ben [it ben UV.] that ben sown on `a stoon [stony places UV.] , the [Om. UV.] whiche whanne thei `han herd [herden PW sec. m.] the word, anoon taken it [verse 17] with ioye; and thei han nat roote in hem silf, but thei ben temporal, `that is, lasten [that lastyn G pr. m. that is, lastynge G sec. m. O.] a [but a P.] lityl tyme [Om. X.] ; afterward `tribulacioun sprongen vp, and persecucioun [whan [the V] tribulacioun and persecucioun riseth UV.] for the word, anoon thei ben sclaundrid. [verse 18] And `there ben other [othere ben UV.] that ben sowun in thornis; these it ben, that heeren the [verse 19] word, and myseiste [myseeses U. mysseyseis V.] of the world, and disseit [disceytis W pr. m.] of richessis, and other charge [bisynesse UV.] of

coueitise entrynge ynne [Om. PUV.] , strangulen [strangliden O. instranglen P. and stranglen Y.] the word, and it is maad with outen fruyt. [verse 20] And these it ben that ben sowun on [in AN.] good lond, `the whiche [whiche UV. Om. X.] heren the word, and taken, and maken fruyt, oon thritti fold, oon sixti fold, and oon an hundrid [hundrid fold AGNQTUVWY.] . [verse 21] And he seide to hem, Wher [Whether GU et X passim.] a lanterne come [cometh UV.] , that it be put vndir a bushel [bushel or vnder a bed O marg. U sec. m. marg. Q sec. m. X pr. m. bed U pr. m. V.] ? wher not, that it be put vpon [on UVX.] a [Om. N.] candil stike? [verse 22] For|sothe `ther is no thing [nothing is UV.] hid, that shal not be `maad opyn [schewid UV.] ; nether ony thing is [maad UV.] preuy, `the whiche [whiche UV. that X.] shal not come `in to [in X.] apert. [verse 23] If ony man haue [hath PUV.] eeris of heryng, heere he. [verse 24] And he seide to hem, Se ȝee what ȝee heeren. In what mesure ȝee meten, it shal be meten to [aȝen to UV.] ȝou, and be [it schal be UV.] kast to ȝou. [verse 25] Sothely [For|sothe UV.] it shal be ȝouen to hym that hath, and `it shal [if a man hath not, ȝhe this that he hath schal UV.] be taken awey from hym `that hath not, also that that he hath [Om. UV.] . [verse 26] `And he seide [Om. O.] , So [Lo XY.] the kingdom [rewme UV.] of God is, as if a man caste [verse 27] seed [a seed N.] in to the [Om. UV.] erthe, and it slepe [he sleepeth G sec. m. O. it slepith PT. he slepe Q sup. ras. UV.] , and ryse [it ryse G sec. m. O. Q sup. ras. V. rysith PT. it ryseth U.] vp in niȝt and day, and brynge [bringeth P.] forth seed, and wexe [wexith P.] faste, the [Om. UV.] while he wote not. [verse 28] Forsothe the erthe by his owne worchynge [wille UV.] makith fruyt, first an erbe, `or grene corn [Om. AOX.] , afterward an eere, after|ward ful fruyt in the ere. [verse 29] And whanne of it silf it hath brouȝt forth fruyt, anoon he sendith a [Om. O.] sikil, `or hook [Om. AOUVX.] , for [for the Q pr. m. for the tyme of Q sec. m.] rype corn cometh. [verse 30] And he seide, To what thing shulden we likene the kyngdom [rewme UV.] of God? or to what parable shulen we com|parisoune it? [verse 31] As a corn of seneueye, the [Om. UV.] which whann it is [was O.] sowun in the [Om. UV.] erthe, is lesse than alle seedis [the seedis GQY.] that ben in erthe [the erthe AGNOPQSTWXY.] ; [verse 32] and whanne it is bredd [sowen U.] , `or quykened [Om. AUVX.] , it styȝeth [wexeth U sec. m.] vp [Om. UV.] in to a tree, and is maad

more than alle wortis, `or erbis [Om. AUVX.] ; and it `shal make [maketh UV.] grete braunchis, so that brid|dis [the briddis UV.] of heuene mowe dwelle vndir the shadewe ther of. [verse 33] And in many siche pa|rablis he spac to hem a word, as thei [verse 34] miȝten heer; sothely he spak not to hem with outen parable. Forsothe he expoun|yde to [not to G.] his disciplis alle thingis `on sidis hond [Om. A. on sydishondis O. a sides halfe UV.] , `or by hem self [bi hymsilf A. Om. X.] . [verse 35] And he seith [seide UV.] to hem, in that day, whenne euenyng [euentide UV.] was maad, Passe we aȝeinward. [verse 36] And thei leeuynge the cumpanye `of peple [Om. UV.] , taken hym, so that he was in the boot; and other bootis weren with hym. [verse 37] And a [ther was made a Q sec. m.] greet storme [tempest Q sec. m. UV.] of wynd is [Om. Q. was UV.] maad [Om. Q sec. m.] , and sente [cast U sec. m.] wawis [flodis Q sec. m.] in to the boot [shippe Q sup. ras.] , so that the boot [shippe Q sec. m.] was ful [fulfillid Q sec. m. fillid UV.] . [verse 38] And he was in the `hyn|dir part of the boot [shippe Q sec. m.] , slepynge on a pi|lewe. And thei reysen hym, and seien [seiden U.] to hym, Maistre, perteneth it [Om. G pr. m.] nat to thee, that [for UV.] we perishen? [verse 39] And he rysynge vp, manasside to the [Om. OUV.] wynd, and seide to the see, Be stille, wexe [and wexe O. wexe thou UV.] doumb. And the wynd ceeside, and greet pesiblenesse is [was UV.] maad. [verse 40] And he seith [seide UV.] to hem, What `dreden ȝee [ben ȝe drede ful UV.] ? Nat ȝit han ȝee feith? And thei dredden with [by UV.] greete dreed, and [and thei UV.] seiden `to eche other [eche to othere UV.] , Who, gessist thou, is this? for the wynd and the see obeysh|en [obeyen UV.] to hym.
