UV.] to erthe tilieris, and wente forth [forsothe W sec. m.] [verse 2] in pilgrymage; and sente [he sent MOPUVW.] to the erthe tilieris in tyme a seruaunt, that he schulde receyue [take V.] of the fruyt of the vyneȝerd [vyner V.] at [of V.] the erthe tilieris. [verse 3] The [Om. UV.] whiche `beten him takun [takun, beten him MP.] , and leften him voyde. [verse 4] And eftsoone [efte UV.] he sente to hem a nother ser|uaunt, and thei woundiden him in the heed, and ponyscheden [punsheden hym X.] with chidingis [repreu|ynges UV.] , `or reprouyngis [Om. [verse 5] And eftsoone [efte UV.] he sente another, and thei slowen [killiden UV.] him, and othere mo, betynge [and thei beten UV.] summe, but [sotheli UV.] sleynge [thei killiden UV.] othere. [verse 6] Therfore ȝit he hauynge a [O AGNOQSTUVWX.] sone most dereworth, `and to hem he sente [sente also to hem UV.] him the laste, seyinge [and seide UV.] , For by [in UV.] hap thei schulen schame [drede with reuerence UV.] my sone, `or drede with reuerence [Om. [verse 8] And thei takynge him [him. killeden and NUV.] , castiden [casten SX.] out withoute the vyneȝerd [vyner UV.] , `and slowen [Om. NU.] . [verse 9] `Therfore what [What therfore V.] schal the lord of the vyneȝerd [vyner UV.] do? He schal come, and leese the [Om. G pr. m.] tenauntis, and ȝyue [he schal ȝeue UV.] the vyne|ȝerd [vyner UV.] to othere. [verse 10] Wher [Whether UX.] ȝe han not rad this scripture, The stoon the [Om. UVXY.] which men bildinge han dispisid, this is maad in to the heed [heued OY.] of the corner? [verse 11] This thing is maad of the Lord, and is wondirful in oure yȝen. [verse 12] And thei souȝten for [Om. SUVX.] to holde him, and thei dreden the cumpanye `of peple [Om. UV.] ; sothli thei knewen for to hem he seide this parable; and him left, thei wenten away. [verse 13] And thei senden to him summe of the Farisees and [and of UV.] Erodians, for [Om. QSUVX.] to [that thei shulden Q sec. m. UV.] take hym in word. [verse 14] The [Om. KUV.] falsnesse [falsenesse of hem UV.] , seith [seide UV.] to hem, What tempten ȝe me [me, ipocrites N.] ? brynge ȝe to me a peny, that I se [may se K.] . [verse 16] And thei offriden [offreden, or token MP. brouȝten UV.] to him. And he seith [seide UV.] to hem, Whos is this ymage, and the `in wrytinge [on wrytynge N. wrytynge Q.] ? Thei seien to him, Cesaris. [verse 17] Forsothe Jhesus answeringe seith [seide UV.] to hem, Therfore ȝelde ȝe to Cesar that [tho thingis that UV.] ben of Cesar, and to God tho thingis that ben of God. And alle [thei UV.] wondriden on him. [verse 24] And Jhesus answeringe seith [seide UV.] to hem, Wher [Whether X.] ȝe erren not ther|fore [herfor UV.] , not knowinge [kunnynge UV.] the scripturis, nother the vertu of God? [verse 25] Forsothe whanne thei schulen rise aȝen fro `deed men [deeth U sec. m. dead X.] , neither thei wedden [schulen wedde UV.] , nother [ne PTW sec. m.] ben [thei ben N. schulen be UV.] weddid, but thei schulen be as aungels of God in heuenes [heuene U.] . [verse 42] Sothli whanne o [a XY.] pore widowe hadde comen, sche sente tweye [two MOPUX.] mynutis, that is, a ferthing. [verse 43] And [And he clepynge togidere UV.] his disciplis `clepid to gidere [Om. UV.] , he [Om. UV.] seith [seide V.] to hem, Treuly I seie to ȝou, for this pore widowe sente more than alle [alle men UV.] , that sente in to the tresorie. [verse 44] Sothli [For U.] alle sente of that thing that was plenteuous to hem; but this `of hir myseste sente [sent of hir pouert UV.] alle thingis that she hadde, al hir lyflode.
