[verse 1] And aftir sixe dayes Jhesus took Petre, and [Om. U.] James, and John, and ledith [ledde NQX. he ledith UV.] hem by hem selue aloone [aloone asides half UV.] in to an hiȝ [Om. V pr. m.] hil; and he is transfigurid byfore hem. [verse 2] And his clothis ben maad schynynge and white ful moche as [like O.] snow, and [Om. UV.] which [what QUVXY.] maner clothis [Om. MTPY pr. m.] a fullere, `or walkere of cloth [Om. AMOPQTW sec. m. XY pr. m. either touker UV.] , may not make white on erthe. [verse 3] And Helye with Moyses apperide to hem, and thei weren spekynge with Jhesu. [verse 4] And Petre answeringe seith [seide UV.] to Jhesu, Mais|tir, it is good vs for [Om. SUVX.] to be here; make [and make UV.] we here thre tabernaclis, oon to thee, oon [and oen X.] to Moyses, and oon to Helye. [verse 5] Sothli he wiste not what he schulde seie; forsothe [for UV.] thei weren agast [aferd UV.] by drede. [verse 6] And `ther is maad [Om. UV.] a cloude [cloude was maad UV.] schadewinge [bischadowynge N.] hem; and a voys cam of [Om. UV.] the cloude, seyinge, This is my mooste deereworthe sone, heere ȝe him. [verse 7] And anon thei biholdinge aboute, syȝe no more any man, no [Om. O.] but Jhesus oonly with hem. [verse 8] And hem [thei U. he V.] comynge down fro the hil, he comaundide hem [to hem UV.] , that thei schulde not telle to any man tho thingis that [whiche UV.] thei hadde seyn, no [not N.] but whanne mannis sone hath risun [rise aȝen UV.] fro `deede spiritis [deeth O. deed men UV. deade X.] . [verse 9] And thei heelden [heelden togidere O.] the word at [anentis UV.] hem silf, sekynge what [what thei U.] schulde be, whanne he hath [schal haue Q sec. m.] risun [rise aȝen UV.] fro deede [deth OQX. deed men V.] . [verse 10] And thei axiden him, seyinge [and seiden UV.] , What [fro UV.]

therfore seyn Pharisees [the Pharisees UV.] and scribis [the scribis UV.] , for it bihoueth Helye for [Om. SUVY.] to come first. [verse 11] The [Om. UVX.] which answeringe seith [seide UV.] to hem, Whanne Helye schal come first, he schal restore alle thingis; and hou it is writun `in to [on U. of V.] mannis sone, that he suffre many thingis, and be despisid. [verse 12] But I seie to ȝou, for and [also UV.] Helye is comun, and thei diden to him what euere thingis thei wolden, as it is writun of him. [verse 13] And he comynge to his disciplis, syȝ a greet cumpany aboute hem, and scribis [the scribis UV.] axynge [disputynge UV. to gydere axinge M. togidere axende X.] with hem. [verse 14] And anon al the cumpanye [peple UV.] seynge Jhesu, was astoneyed, and thei [Om. MPXY.] dreden; and thei rennynge to, greeten [gretten V.] him. [verse 15] And he axide hem, What seken [disputen UV.] ȝe among ȝou? [verse 16] And oon of the cumpany answeringe seide, Maistir, I haue brouȝt to thee my sone [verse 17] hauynge `an vnclene [a doumbe UV.] spirit; the [Om. UV.] which wher euere he [Om. U.] `schal take [taketh UVX.] hym, hirtith [hurtlith UV.] him [him doun V.] , and he frothith [vometh UV.] , `or vometh [Om. AUVX. or fometh ONWY.] , and betith [biteth A.] to gidere with teeth, and wexith drye. And I seide to thi disciplis, that thei schulden caste hym out, and thei myȝten not. [verse 18] The [Om. UV.] which answeringe to hem seide, A [O! O.] ! thou [the K.] schrewid [Om. UV.] generacioun `and out of bileue [vnbileeueful UV.] , hou longe schal I be at ȝou, hou longe schal I suffre ȝou? `Brynge ȝe [Bringith M.] hym to me. [verse 19] And thei brouȝten hym to [Om. UV.] . And whanne he hadde seyn him, anon the spirit troublide [turblide MNP.] him; and he cast doun in to the erthe, was [Om. MY.] walewid frothinge [vomynge UV.] . [verse 20] And he axide his fadir, Hou moche of [Om. UV.] tyme `it is [is it MPUXY. is V.] , sithen this thing fel [bifelde UV.] to him? [verse 21] And he seith [seide UV.] , Fro childhod [ȝonge childehod UV.] ; and ofte he hath sent [put U.] him [Om. T.] and [Om. Q. bothe UV.] in to fier [the fyre Q.] and `in to [Om. Q. to T.] watir [watris N.] , that he schulde leese him; but and [Om. UVXY.] if thou maist ony thing, help vs, hauynge [thou hauynge MPTUVW sec. m.] mercy on [of Y.] vs. [verse 22] Sothli Jhesus seith [seide U.] to him, If thou maist bileue, alle

thingis ben possible to a man bileuynge. [verse 23] And [Om. G pr. m.] anon the `fadir of the child [childes fadir Q.] cri|ynge [criede X.] with teeris seide [seyende X.] , Lord, I bileue; help thou myn vnbileuefulnesse [vnfeithfulnesse V.] . [verse 24] And whanne Jhesus hadde seyn the company `of peple [Om. UV.] rennynge to gidere, he manaside to [Om. UV.] the vnclene spirit, seyinge [and seide UV.] to him, Thou deef and doumb spirit, I comaund thee, go [go thou UV.] out fro him, and entre [entre thou UV. to gon XY.] not [no OUVXY.] more in to him. [verse 25] And he criynge, and moche to-breidynge him, wente out fro him; and he is [was UV.] maad as deed, so that manye [many men UV.] seiden, that he was deed. [verse 26] For|soth Jhesus holdynge his hond, `lifte vp him [reiside him UV. lifte him vp MW pr. m. Y. liftede hym vp X.] ; and he roos. [verse 27] And whanne he hadde entrid in to an hous, his disciplis axiden him priuely, Whi myȝten not we caste hym out? [verse 28] And he seyde to hem, This kynde [kynd of deueles O.] `in no thing [Om. UV.] may [may not UV.] go out [out in eny thing UV.] , no but in preier and fastinge. [verse 29] And thei gon fro thennis, wenten forth in to Galile; and he wolde no [not that ony UV.] man wite. [verse 30] He [Forsothe he UV.] tauȝte his disciplis, and seide [he seide S.] to hem, For man|nus sone schal be bitrayed in to the hondis of men [synneres N.] , and thei schulen sle him, and he [him GMOXY.] slayn, on [in UV.] the thridde day schal rise aȝen. [verse 31] And thei knewen not the word, and dredden for [Om. SUVX.] to axe him. And thei camen to Cafarnaum. [verse 32] Which whenne `he was [thei weren UV.] in the hous, axide hem, What tretiden ȝe in the weie? [verse 33] And thei weren stille; sothli thei disputiden among hem [hem silf UV.] in the weie, who [whiche O.] of hem schulde be more [gretter U. the gretter UV.] . [verse 34] And he sittinge clepide the twelue, and seith [he seide U.] to hem, If any man [Om. Y pr. m.] wole be the first among ȝou, he schal be [verse 35] the laste [laste of alle UV.] , and [and the V.] mynystre [mynystre or seruaunt M P.] of [to O.] alle. And he takinge a childe, ordeynede him in the myddil [myddis UV.] of hem; whom whanne he hadde [verse 36] byclippid, he seith [seide UV.] to hem, Who euere `schal receyue [resseyueth UV.] oon of suche children in

my name, he receyueth me; and who euere receyueth me, he receyueth not me aloone, but him that sente me. [verse 37] John answeride to him, seyinge [and seide UV.] , Maistir, we syȝen [han sein N.] sum oon [Om. N. man UV.] for [Om. Q sec. m. SUVXY.] to [Om. Q sec. m. UVY.] caste [castinge Q sec. m. UV.] out fendis in thi name, the [Om. UV.] which [which man UV.] sueth not vs, and we han forbedun him. [verse 38] Sothli Jhesus seith [seide UV.] `to him [to hem M. Om. UV.] , Nyle ȝe forbede him; `ther is no man [for no man is UV.] that doth vertu in my name, and [and he K.] may soone speke yuele of me. [verse 39] Forsothe he that is not aȝens vs [ȝou V.] , is for vs [ȝou V.] . [verse 40] Sothli who euere schal ȝyue drynke to ȝou a cuppe of cold watir in my name, for ȝe ben of Crist, treuly I seie to ȝou, he schal not leese his mede. [verse 41] And who euere `schal sclaundre [sclaundreth UV.] oon of thes litle bileuynge in [in to UV.] me, it [Om. K.] is good to [more to UV.] him that a mylne stoon of assis [an asse MPY pr. m.] were don aboute his necke, and were sent [cast U.] in to the see. [verse 42] And if thin hond sclaundre [sclaundreth UV.] thee, kitt it awey; it is good to thee `feble to [that thou feble UV.] entre in to lyf, than [than that thou UV.] hau|ynge twey [two MOPUXY.] hondis go [to go G sec. m. OSX.] in to helle, in to [verse 43] fier `that neuere schal be quenchid [vnquencheable UV.] , where the worm of hem deieth not, and the fier [fier of hem O.] is not quenchid. [verse 44] And if thi foot sclaun|dre [sclaundreth UV.] thee, kitt it of; it is good to thee `for to [to SX. that UV.] `entre crokid [thou crokid entre UV.] in to [to the O.] euerlasting lyf, than [than that thou UV.] hauynge twey [two MPXY.] feet to [Om. UV.] be sent in to helle of [Om. MPXY.] fier, `that neuer schal be quench|id [vnquencheable UV.] , [verse 45] where the worm of hem deieth not, and the fier is not quenchid. [verse 46] That if thin yȝe sclaundre [sclaundreth OUV.] thee, cast it out; it is good to thee `for to [to MSXY. Om. P. that UV.] entre [thou entre UV.] gogil yȝed in to rewme [the rewme A pr. m. GMOPQSUVXY.] of God, than [than that thou UV.] hauynge twey [tweyne GV. two MPXY.] yȝen [verse 47] for [Om. SUVX.] to be sent in to helle of [Om. MO.] fier, where the worm of hem deieth not, and the fier is not quenchid. [verse 48] Forsoth euery [ech UVX.] man schal be saltid, `or maad sauori [Om. AX.] , with fier, and euery [ech MUV.] slayn sacrifice schal be sauorid [saltid UV.]

with salt. [verse 49] Salt is good thing; that if salt be [is OUV.] vnsauori, in what thing schulen ȝe make it sauori? Haue ȝe salt in ȝou, and haue ȝe [Om. M.] pees among ȝou.
