the Lord God, if this parable shal be more to ȝou in to a prouerbe in Israel. [verse 4] Loo! alle soulis ben myne; as the soule of the fadir, so and [Om. A.] the soule of the sone is myne. The soule that shal synne, the ilk shal die. [verse 5] And if a man shal be iust, and shal doo doom and riȝtwisnes, [verse 6] he shal not ete in the hillis, and shal not reyse his eyen to the ydolis of the hows of Israel; and he shal not defoule the wijf of his neiȝbour, and shal not go to a menstruat womman, or in vnclene blood [verse 7] flowing; and he shal not make a man sorewful, he shal ȝeelde the wed to the dettour, and he shal rauysshe no thing bi strength, he shal ȝyue his breed to the hungrynge, and he shal hille the nakid [verse 8] with clothing; he shal not leene to vsure, and shal not take more; he shal turne awey his hoond fro wickidnes, and he shal doo verre dom bitwix man and [verse 9] man; and shal walke in my comaunde|mentis, and shal kepe my domys, that he doo treuth; he this is iust, in lijf he shal lyue, seith the Lord God. [verse 10] That if he shal gendre a sone, theef, shedynge [verse 11] out blood, and shal doo oon of thes, and sotheli not doynge alle thes, but etynge in mounteyns, and defoulynge the wijf [verse 12] of his neiȝbour; makynge the nedy and pore sorewful, rauyshynge raueyns, not ȝeeldynge wed, reisynge his eyen to [verse 13] ydolis, doynge abomynacioun; ȝyuynge to vsure, and takynge more; whether he shal lyue? he shal not lyue; whanne he shal doo alle thes cursyd thingis, he shal die bi deeth, the blood of hym shal be in hym. [verse 14] That if he shal gendre a sone, whiche seynge alle thes synnes of his fader, which he hath don, shal drede, [verse 15] and not doo liche thing to hem; shal not eete in hillis, and shal not reyse his eyen to the [Om. rauyshe raueyne, shal ȝyue his breed to the hungrynge, and shal hille the nakid [verse 17] with clothing; shal turne awei his hoond fro wroong of the pore man, shal not take vsure and ouere-aboundance, and shal doo my domys, shal walke in my preceptis; this man shal not die in the wickydnes of his fadir, but in lijf he shal lyue. [verse 18] The fadir of hym, for he dide fals chalenge [chalengynge GH.] , and dide strengthe, or violence, to his brother, and wrouȝte yuel thing in the mydil of his puple, loo! he is deed in his wickidnes. [verse 19] And ȝe seyn, Whi berith not the sone the wickidnes of his fader? That is for to wite, for the sone wrouȝte doom and riȝtwisnes, he kepte alle my preceptis, and dide hem, in lijf he shal lyue, seith the Lord God. [verse 20] The soule that shal synne, the ilke shal die; the sone shal not bere the wickidnes of the fader, and the fadir shal not bere the wickidnes of the sone; the riȝtwisnes of the iust man shal be vpon [on GH.] hym, and the vnpitousnes of the vnpitous man shal be vpon [on GH.] hym. [verse 21] Forsothe if the vnpitous man shal doo penaunce of alle his synnes whiche he hath wrouȝte, and shal kepe alle myn heestis, and shal doo doom and riȝtwisnes, in lijf he shal lyue, and he shal not die. [verse 22] I shal not haue mynde of alle the wyckidnessis whiche he wrouȝte; `in his riȝtwisnesse whiche he wrouȝt [Om. A.] , he shal lyue. [verse 23] Whether the deeth of the vnpitous man is of [Om. G pr. m. H.] my wil, seith the Lord God, and not that he be conuertid fro his weies, and lyue? [verse 24] Forsothe if a iust man shal turne hym a wei fro his riȝtwisnes, and shal doo wickidnes, after alle the abomynaciouns whiche the vn|pytous man is wont for to worche, whe|ther he shal lyue? Alle his riȝtwisnessis whiche he dide, shulen not be recordid; in the trespassynge in which he tres|passide, and in the synne in [Om. A.] which he synnede, in hem he shal dye. [verse 25] And ȝe seiden, The weie of the Lord is not euen.

Therfor here ȝe, hous of Israel, whether my weye is not euen, and not more ȝoure weies ben shrewid? [verse 26] Forsothe whanne a iust man shal turne awei him fro his riȝtwisnes, and shal do wickidnes, he shal die in hem, in [and in GH.] the vnriȝtwisnes which he wrouȝt, he shal die. [verse 27] And whanne the vnpitous man shal turne hym a wey fro his vnpite which he wrouȝte, and shal doo doom and riȝtwisnes, he shal quykne his soule. [verse 28] Forsothe biholdynge and turn|ynge awei hym fro alle his wickidnessis whiche he wrouȝte, he shal lyue in lijf, and shal not die. [verse 29] And the sones of Israel seyn, The weie of the Lord is not euen. Whether my weies ben not euen, ȝe hous of Israel, and not more ȝoure weies ben shrewid? [verse 30] Therfor I shal deme eche man after his weies, ȝe hous of Israel, seith the Lord God. Be ȝe conuertid, and doo ȝe penaunce fro alle ȝour [Om. G pr. m. H.] wyckidnessis, and wickidnes [wickidnessis GH.] shal not be to ȝou in to falling doun. [verse 31] Caste ȝe awei fro ȝou alle ȝour trespassyngis, in whiche ȝe han tres|passide, and make ȝe to ȝou a newe herte and a newe spirite, and whi shulen ȝe die, hous of Israel? [verse 32] For I wole not the deeth of the diynge, but that he be con|uertid and lyue, seith the Lord God; turne ȝe aȝen, and lyue.
