[verse 2] Ther|fore lo! daȝes comen in thee, seith the Lord, and herd Y shal make vp on Ra|bath of the sonus of Amon the gnasting [or noyse C sec. m. marg. E sec. m. marg. K. gnastynge, or noise G.] of bataile; and he [it AGHK.] shal be in to noyse [a mynde hipil C pr. m. E pr. m. a noyse E sec. m. an noyse AK.] scatered, and his doȝtris with fyr shal be brend, and Irael shal welde his welderes, seith the Lord. [verse 3] Ȝelle thou, Esebon, for wastid is Hai; crieth, ȝee doȝtris of Ra|bath, girdeth ȝou with heires, weileth, and goth aboute bi hegges; for Melchon in to transmygracioun shal be broȝt, his prestus and his princes togidere. [verse 4] What gloriest thou in valeis? Flowede doun thi valei, thou doȝter delicat, that trost|edist in thi tresores, and seidist, Who

shal come to me? [verse 5] Lo! Y shal bringen in ferd vp on thee, seith the Lord God of ostus, God of Irael, of alle that ben in thi cumpas; and ȝee shul be scatered, eche fro ȝoure siȝt, ne shal be, that gedere the fleeres. [verse 6] And after these thingus Y shal make to turne aȝeen the fleeres and the caitifes of the sonus of Amon, seith the Lord. [verse 7] To Idume `these thingus [Om. E pr. m.] seith the Lord God of ostus. Whether no mor is wisdam in Theman? Pershede counseil fro [of A.] sonus, vnprofitable mad is the wisdam of hem. [verse 8] Fleeth, and turneth backus; goth doun in to a swolewe [swolȝ C pr. m.] , ȝee dwelleres of Dedan, for the perdicioun of Esau Y haue [ha K.] broȝt vp on hym, tyme of his visit|ing. [verse 9] Yf grape kutteres hadden come, vp on thee thei shulden han laft [laft vpon thee E pr. m.] a cluster braunch; if theues in nyȝt hadden stoln, that shulde han suffisid to them. [verse 10] I for|sothe discouerede Esau, and openede his hid thingus, and he shal not moun be coouered; wastid is his seed, and his bre|thern, and his neȝhebores, and he shal not be. [verse 11] Lef thi faderles childer, and Y shal make them to lyue, and thi widewis in me shul hope. [verse 12] For these thingus seith the Lord, Lo! to whom was not dom, that thei shulde drinke chalis [chalicis AGHK.] , drink|ende thei shul drinke; and thou as inno|cent shalt be laft? thou [and K.] shalt not be in|nocent, but drinkende thou shalt drinke. [verse 13] For bi myself Y swor, seith the Lord, for in to wildernesse and in to repref, and in to desert, and in to cursing shal be Bosra; and alle his cites shul ben [Om. C.] in to euere lastende wildernessis [wildernesse C.] . [verse 14] Herd thing [thingis A. Om. E pr. m.] Y herde of the Lord, and a legat to Jentilis is sent; beth gedered, and cometh aȝen it, and rise wee togidere to [in to AEGHK.] bataile. [verse 15] Lo! forsothe a litil child Y ȝaf thee in Jentilis, despisable among men. [verse 16] Thin owne hauncyng desceyuede thee, and the pride of thin herte, that dwellist in cauys of the ston, and [Om. E pr. m.] to cacche

forcest the heiȝte of the hil; whan thou shalt enhaunce as an egle thi nest, then|nus Y shal drawe thee, seith the Lord. [verse 17] And be shal Idume desert; eche [and eche E pr. m.] that shal passe bi it, shal stoneyn, and whistle [verse 18] vp on alle his veniaunces; as turned vp so doun is Sodom and Gomor, and his nyȝ wonyngus, seith the Lord. Ther shal not dwelle there a man, and ther shal not tiln it the sone of man. [verse 19] Lo! as a leoun he shal steȝe vp, and of the pride of Jordan to a stalwrthe fairnesse; for sodeynli to renne Y shal make hym [Om. C pr. m.] to it; and who shal be the chosen, whom Y shal bifor pute to [Om. K.] hym? Who for|sothe lic [lijk to A.] me, and who shall susteyne me, and who is this [the C.] shepperde, that withstant to my chere? [verse 20] Therfore hereth the counseil of the Lord, that he [Om. E pr. m.] wente in of [fro E pr. m.] Edom, and his thoȝtus, that he thoȝte of the dwelleres of Theman. Yf the litle childer of the floc [king E pr. m.] shul not throwe them doun, no [Om. C pr. m. E pr. m. AGHK.] but they shuln [Om. A.] scatere with them ther dwelling. [verse 21] Fro the vois of the falling of hem to-stirid is the erthe; cry in the rede se `is herd [heering is E pr. m.] of his vois. [verse 22] Lo! as an egle he shal steȝen vp, and fleen awei, and he shall spreden out his wengus vp on Bosra; and shal [he shal E pr. m.] ben the herte of stronge men of Idume in that dai, as the herte of a womman trauailende with childe. [verse 23] To Damasch. Confoundid is Emath and Ar|fath, for werst heering thei herden; thei ben disturbid in the se, for bisynesse thei myȝten not reste. [verse 24] Losid atwynne is Da|masch, turned is in to fliȝt; trembling caȝte it, anguysshes and sorewis heelden it, as a trauailende with childe. [verse 25] Hou thei forsoke the preisable cyte, the [Om. E pr. m.] chef cite of gladnesse? [verse 26] Therfore fallen shul his ȝunge men in his stretes, and alle the men of bataile shul become stille in that dai, seith the Lord of ostus. [verse 27] And Y shal teende vp fyr in the wal of Damasch,

and deuoure the wallis of Benadab. [verse 28] To Cedar, and [in E.] to the reumys of Asor, that Nabugodonosor, king of Babiloyne, smot, these thingus seith the Lord. Riseth, and steȝeth vp to Cedar, and wasteth the sonus of the est. [verse 29] Ther tabernaclis and ther flockes thei shul taken; ther skynnus, and alle [Om. A.] ther vesseles, and ther camailes thei shul gedere to them; and thei shul clepe vp on hem ferd in his cumpas. [verse 30] Fleeth, goth awei hugeli in swolewes, sitteth, that dwellen Asor, seith the Lord. Nabugodonosor, king of Babiloyne, wente in forsothe aȝen ȝou conseil, and thoȝte aȝen ȝow thoȝtis. [verse 31] Riseth, and steȝeth vp to a quyete folc of kinde, and dwellende trostili, seith the Lord; not dores ne his barres, alone dwellen. [verse 32] And ben shul ther camailes in to reuyng, and the multitude of bestus in to prei; and Y shal scatere them in to eche wind, that ben dodded in to the her [hed CE pr. m.] , and of eche coest of hem Y shal bringe deth vp on hem, seith the Lord. [verse 33] And Asor shal be in to dwelling of dragounus, desert vnto withoute ende; ther shal not dwelle there a man, ne tiln it the sone of man. [verse 34] That don is the wrd of the Lord to Jeremye, the profete, aȝen Elam, in the bigynnyng of the regne [verse 35] of Sedechie, king of Juda, seiende, These thingus seith the Lord of ostus, God of Irael, Lo! I shal to-breke the bowe of Elam, and take ther strengthe. [verse 36] And Y shal bringe in vp on Elam foure wyndus fro the foure coestus of heuene, and Y shal wynewe them in to alle these windus; and ther shal not be folc of kinde, to whiche come not the [Om. AE sec. m. GHK.] ferr fleende of [fro AGHK.] Elam. [verse 37] And Y shal make Elam to dreden biforn alle his enemys, and in the siȝte of men sechende the soule of hem; and Y shal bringe in vp on hem euel, the wrathe of my wodnesse, seith the Lord, and Y shal sende vp on hem swerd, to the tyme that Y to-waste them. [verse 38] And Y shal sette my see in Elam, and leese thennus kingus

and princes, seith the Lord. [verse 39] In the laste forsothe daȝes Y shal make to be turned aȝeen the caitifes of Elam, seith the Lord.
