CAP. XLII.
[verse 1] Lo! my seruaunt, I shal vndertaken hym, my chosen, al plesede to hym in hym my soule. I ȝaf my spirit vp on hym, dom to Jentiles he shal bringe forth. [verse 2] He shal not crien, ne take persone, ne shal ben herd his [Om. K.] voys withouteforth. [verse 3] A reed brosid [smyten togydir E sec. m. AGHK.] he shal not to-trede, and flax smokende he shal not quenchen; in treuthe he shal bringe out dom. [verse 4] He shal not be dreri, ne trublid, to the tyme he pute [poote E pr. m.] in the erthe dom, and his lawe iles shul abiden. [verse 5] These thingus seith the Lord God, formende heuenes, and strecchende out hem, fastnende [formynge E pr. m.] erthe, and that buriounen of [out of K.] it, ȝyuende breth to the puple, that is vpon it, and spirit to men tredende it. [verse 6] I the Lord clepede thee in riȝtwisnesse, and toc thin hond, and kepte thee, and ȝaf thee in to coue|naunt of the puple, in to liȝt of Jentiles. [verse 7] That [And that A.] thou shuldist opene the eȝen of blynde men; that thou shuldyst bringe out fro closing the bounde, fro the hous of prisoun the sitteres in dercnesse. [verse 8] I a Lord, this is my name; my glorie to an other I shall not ȝyue, and my preis|ing to grauen thingus. [verse 9] That first weren, lo! ben comen, newe thingus also I telle; er thei ben sprunge, herd I shal maken to ȝou. [verse 10] Syngeth to the Lord a newe song; his preising fro the vtmostes [vttermostis AGHK.] of the [Om. AEG.] erthe; ȝee that gon doun in to the se, and the plente of it, iles, and the dwelleres of hem. [verse 11] Be rered vp the [to E pr. m.] de|sert, and the cites of it; in his houses shal dwelle Cedar; preiseth, ȝee dwelleris of the ston; fro the top of mounteynes thei shul crien. [verse 12] Thei shul sette to the Lord glorie, and his preising in iles thei shul telle. [verse 13] The Lord as strong shal gon out, as a man fiȝtere he shal reren enuye; he shal crien out, and crien; vp on his enemys he shal be coumforted. [verse 14] Y heeld
