[verse 1] Bee stille to me, yles, and Jentyles strengthe chaunge thei; neȝhen, and thanne speke thei; togidere to dom nyȝ come wee. [verse 2] Who rerede fro the est the riȝtwis, clepede hym, that he shulde fo|lewe hymself? He shal ȝyue in his siȝte Jentyles, and kingus he shal welde; he shal ȝyue as pouder to his swerd, as [Om. C pr. m. E pr. m.] stubil with the wind raueshid to his bowe. [verse 3] He shal pursue hem, `he shal [Om. E pr. m.] passe in pes; the sty in his feet shal not apere. [verse 4] Who these thingus wroȝte and dide? clepende ieneraciouns [generacioun AGHK.] fro the bi|gynnyng. I a Lord; first and the last I am. [verse 5] Iles seeȝen, and trembleden; the

vtmostus [vttermost AGHK.] of the erthe becamen stoneid, thei neȝheden, and wente to. [verse 6] Eche to his neȝhebore shal helpen, and to his brother seyn, Tac coumfort. [verse 7] Coumforten shal the metal smyth smytende hym with an hamer that forgede that tyme, seiende to the glyu, It is good; and he coumfortide hym with nailes, that it shulde not be moued. [verse 8] And thou, Irael, my seruaunt, Jacob, whom I ches, the [verse 9] sed of Abraham, my frend, in whom I toc thee fro the vtmostes [vttermostis AGHK.] of the erthe, and fro his ferre coestes I clepede thee, and seide to thee, My seruaunt thou art; I ches thee, and I caste not awei thee. [verse 10] Ne drede thou, for I am with thee; ne bowe thou doun, for I [I am AK sec. m.] thi God. I haue coumfortid thee, and holpen thee; and vndertoc thee the riȝthond of my riȝtwis. [verse 11] Lo! shul be confoundid, and shamen alle that fiȝten aȝen thee; thei shul be as thoȝ [thof E passim.] thei be not, and pershe shul the men, that aȝenseyn to thee. [verse 12] Thou shalt sechen hem, and not finden; thi rebel men thei shul ben, as thoȝ thei ben not, and as the wasting of a man fiȝtende aȝen thee. [verse 13] For I the Lord thi God, takende thin hond, and seiende to thee, Ne drede thou, for I haue holpen thee. [verse 14] Wile thou not drede, thou [of the E pr. m.] werm of Ja|cob, that dead ȝee ben of Irael. I haue holpen thee, seith the Lord, and thin aȝeen biere, the hoeli of Irael. [verse 15] I haue [ha C.] set thee as a newe wayn thresshende, hauende pikede poeles sawende; thou shalt thresshe mounteynes, and to-my|nushen, and putten as pouder hillis. [verse 16] Thou shalt wynewe them, and the wind shal take awei, and the whirlewind shal scatere them; and thou ful out shalt ioȝen in the Lord, and in the hoeli of Irael shalt [thou schalt AG sec. m. K sec. m.] glade. [verse 17] Nedi and pore men shul seche watris [Om. E pr. m.] , and ther ben not; the tunge of them with thrist driede. I the Lord shal out heren hem, I God of

Irael shal not forsake them. [verse 18] I shal opene in heȝe hillis flodys, and in the myddel of feeldis welles; I shall sette de|sert in to [Om. A.] pondis of watris, and the lond withoute weie in to riueres of watris. [verse 19] I shal ȝyue in wildernesse ceder, and thorne, and myrt [myrre AGHK.] tree, and oliue tree; I [and I E pr. m.] shal sette in desert fyrr tree, and vlm tree, and box togidere. [verse 20] That thei see, and wite, and bethenke, and vnderstonde togidere; for the hond of the Lord dide this, and the hoeli of Irael foormede it. [verse 21] Nyȝ doth ȝoure dom, seith the Lord; bringeth to, if any thing parauenture ȝee han, seith the king of Jacob. [verse 22] Come thei nyȝ, and telle thei to vs, what euer thingus ben to come; the rathere thingus that weren, tellith, and wee shul putte oure herte, and wite; the laste thingis of hem, and that ben to come, shewith to vs. [verse 23] Telleth that ben to come in to tyme to come, and wee shul wite, for goddis ȝee ben; well also or euele, if ȝee moun, doth; and speke wee [Om. E pr. m.] , and see wee togidere. [verse 24] Lo! ȝee ben of noȝt, and ȝour werc `of that thyng [Om. C pr. m. E pr. m.] that is not; abhominacioun he is, that ches ȝou. [verse 25] I rerede fro the north, and he shal come from the rising vp [Om. A.] of the sunne; clepe he shal my name. He shal bringe to the cheef maistris as clei, and as a daubere, `or a potter [Om. CE pr. m. or as a potter K.] , to|tredende the lowe erthe [Om. C pr. m.] . [verse 26] Who tolde fro the bigynnyng, that wee witen, and fro the begynnyng, that wee sey, Thou art riȝtwis? ther is not a tellere, ne a biforn seiere, ne herere ȝoure wrdis. [verse 27] The firste to Sion shal sei, Lo! I am nyȝ; and to Jerusalem an euangelist I shal ȝyue. [verse 28] And I saȝ, and ther was not of these [these then C pr. m. hem E pr. m.] any man that ȝide in counseil, and `askid answerde [askide answere AGHK.] a wrd. [verse 29] Lo! alle vnriȝtwise, and veyne the werkes of hem; wynde, and with ynne voide the symulacris of them.
