[verse 1] Wo! ȝee sonus forsakeres, seith the Lord, that ȝee schulden [Om. C et E pr. m.] do counseil, and not of me; and wefen a web, and not bi my spirit, that [and A.] ȝee adde synne vp on synne. [verse 2] The whiche gon, that ȝee de|scende in to Egipt, and my mouth ȝee han [ha C.] not askid; hopende helpe in the strengthe of Farao, and hauende trost in the shadewe of Egipt. [verse 3] And shal be to ȝou the strengthe of Farao in to con|fusioun, and the trost of the vmbre of Egipt in to shenshepe. [verse 4] Wenten forsothe in Thampnys thi princes, and thi messa|geres vnto `Anes [the briddes E pr. m.] cite [Om. C pr. m. E pr. m.] ful camen. [verse 5] Alle thei ben confoundid vp on the puple, that to [Om. C pr. m. E pr. m.] hem myȝte no than profited [profit AGHK.] ; thei weren not in to helpe, and in to any profit, but in to confusioun and repref. [verse 6] The charge of the bestes of the south. In the lond of tribulacioun and of an|guysh, a leounesse, and a leoun, of hem a violent eddere, and a kokatrice fleende; berende vp on the shuldris of bestes ther richesses, and vp on the bocche of camailes ther tresores, to the puple that to them myȝte not han profited. [verse 7] Egipt forsothe wastli, and in veyn shal helpen. Ther|fore I criede vp on this, Pride onli it is; reste thou. [verse 8] Now thanne gon in, wryt to it vp on a box table, and in a boc bisili graue it; and it shal be in the laste day in to witnessyng, vn to euermore. [verse 9] The puple forsothe to wrathe ys terrende, and sones lieres, sones not willende to heren the lawe of God. [verse 10] That seyn to men seende, Wileth not see; and to men bi|holdende, Wileth not biholde to vs tho thingus that ben riȝte; speketh to vs ple|saunt thingus, seeth to vs erroures.
