[verse 1] And Helie, the profete, ros as fyr; and his wrd as a brond brende. [verse 2] The whiche broȝte in to hem hunger, and folewende hym bi ther enuye ben mad fewe; forsothe thei myȝten not suffre the hestes of the Lord. [verse 3] Thurȝ the wrd of the Lord he withheeld heuene, and cast doun fro hym fyr [the fyr E pr. m.] to the erthe. [verse 4] So mad large is Helie in his merueiles; and [verse 5] who mai lic maner glorien to thee, `the whiche [Om. C. for E pr. m.] hast [thou C pr. m. E pr. m. hast thou C sec. m. thou hast E sec. m. AG pr. m. H.] borne [beere CE pr. m.] vp the deade fro helle, fro the lot of deth, in the wrd of the Lord God? [verse 6] The whiche threȝ doun kingus to deth, and thou breeke liȝtli the myȝt of hem, and the gloriouse fro ther [his E pr. m.] bed. [verse 7] Thatt herdist in Syna dom, and in Oreb domes of defensioun. [verse 8] That enoyntist kingus to penaunce, and profetes makest successoures after thee. [verse 9] That art res|ceyued in whirlewynd of fyr, in a char of fyrene hors [horsis AEGH.] . [verse 10] That art inwrite in domes of tymes, to swage the wrathe of

the Lord, and to ioynen, `or acorde [Om. CE pr. m.] , the herte of the fader to the sone, and to re|storen [store GH.] the lynagis of Jacob. [verse 11] Blisful ben thei, that thee han herd, and in thi fren|shepe [verse 12] ben mad faire; `for why [now C pr. m. E pr. m.] wee [Om. C sec. m. AG pr. m. H.] with lijf lyuen only, after deth forsothe such shal not ben oure name. [verse 13] Helie forsothe in a whirlewynd is couered; and in Helyse fulfild is his spirit. In his daȝes he dradde not a prince, and bi myȝt no [verse 14] man ouer cam hym; ne ouercam hym any wrd, and his body dead profe|ciede. [verse 15] In his lif he dide huge won|dris; and in deth merueilouse thingus he wroȝte. [verse 16] In alle these thingus the [thoȝte the E pr. m.] puple dide not penaunce, and thei wenten not awey fro ther synnes, vn to the tyme that thei ben cast awey fro ther lond, and ben scatered in to eche lond. [verse 17] And ther is laft ful fewe folc, and a prince in the hous of Dauid. [verse 18] Summe of hem dyden that shulde plesen to God; othere for|sothe diden manye synnes. [verse 19] Esechias strengthede his cite, and broȝte in to the myddel of it water; and dalf [deluede AEGH.] with iren the roche, and bilde vp to the water a pit. [verse 20] In his daȝes steȝede vp Senacherub, and sente Rapsacen; and vnderputte his hond aȝen hem, and putte out his hond in to Sion, and proud is mad in his myȝt. [verse 21] Thanne moued ben the hertes and the hondis of hem; and thei soreweden as wymmen trauailende with child. [verse 22] And thei inwardly clepeden the mercyful Lord, and strechende out hondis thei re|reden `vp to [vnto C.] heuene; and the hoely Lord God herde anon the vois of hem. [verse 23] He remembrede [membride A.] not the synnes of hem, ne ȝaf hem to ther enemys; but purgede hem in the hond of Ysaye, the hoely profete. [verse 24] He threȝ doun the tentes of Assiries, and hem to-brosede the aungil of the Lord. [verse 25] For whi Ezechie dide that plesede to the Lord, and strongli he wente in the weie [hond E pr. m.] of Dauid, his fader; that Isaie, the grete profete, and feithful in

the siȝte of God, sente to hym. [verse 26] In his daȝes bacward wente aȝen the sunne; and addede to the king lif. [verse 27] With a gret spirit he saȝ the laste thingus; and coumfortede the weilende men in Sion, vn to euermor. [verse 28] He shewide thingus to come, and hid, er that thei fellen.
