CAP. XI.
[verse 1] A treccherous weȝe abominacioun is anent God [the Lord C pr. m.] ; and an euen [trewe C pr. m.] weiȝt the wil of hym. [verse 2] Wher shal be pride, there shal be wrongful blamyng; wher forsothe is mecnesse, and there wisdam. [verse 3] Simple|nesse of riȝtwis men shal riȝt reule them; and supplaunting of peruertid men shal waste them. [verse 4] Richessis shul not profiten in the day of veniaunce; forsothe riȝtwis|nesse shal deliuere fro deth. [verse 5] Riȝtwisnesse of the simple shal riȝt reulen his weie; and the vnpitous in his vnpitousnesse shal falle. [verse 6] The riȝtwisnesse of riȝt men shal deliuere them; and wicke [wickid AGH.] men in ther aspies shul be take. [verse 7] The vnpytous man dead, noon hope shal ben ouer; and the abiding of bisy men shal pershe. [verse 8] The riȝtwis fro anguysh is deliuered; and shal be take the vnpitous for hym. [verse 9] The feynere in mouth desceyueth his frend; riȝtwis men forsothe shul ben de|liuered with kunnyng. [verse 10] In goodis of riȝt|wis men shal ben enhauncid the cite; and in the leesing of vnpitous [the vnpitous A.] men [man A.] shal ben preising. [verse 11] Thurȝ the blessing of riȝt|wis men shal ben enhauncid the cite; and bi the mouth of vnpitous men it shal be turned vp so doun. [verse 12] Who desceyueth his frend, is nedi in herte; the prudent man forsothe shal be stille. [verse 13] Who goth gilendeli, shewith priue thingus; who forsothe is feithful, hilith the gilte of the frend. [verse 14] Wher is not a gouernour, the puple fallith; helthe forsothe, wher ben manye counselis. [verse 15] He shal be tormentid
