PSALM II. [The salm of Dauyd.]

[verse 1] Whi gruccheden Jentilis; and puplys sweteli thoȝten inwardli veyne thingus? [verse 2] Ther stode neeȝh the kingus of the [Om. C.] erthe; and princis kamen togidere in to oon, aȝen the Lord, and aȝen his Crist. [verse 3] To-breke we the bondis of hem; and aferr throwe we fro vs the ȝoc of hem. [verse 4] That dwelleth in heuenes shal scorne them; and the Lord shal bemowe [mow A.] them. [verse 5] Thanne he shal speke to hem in his wrathe; and in his wodnesse disturbe [distourble A.] them togidere. [verse 6] I forsothe am sett king fro hym vpon Sion, the holi mount of hym; prechende

his heste. [verse 7] The Lord seide to me, My sone thou art; I to day gat thee. [verse 8] Aske of me, and I shal ȝiue to thee Jentilis thin eritage; and thi possessioun the termes of erthe [the erthe AH.] . [verse 9] Thou shalt gouerne them in an irene ȝerde; and as a vessel of a crockere breke them togidere. [verse 10] And now, kingus, vnderstondeth; beth taȝt, that demen the erthe. [verse 11] Serueth to the Lord in drede; and ful out gladeth to hym with trembling. [verse 12] Taketh discipline, lest any time be wrathid the Lord; and ȝee pershe fro the riȝtwis weie. [verse 13] Whan his wrathe shal brenne out in short; blisful alle that trosten in hym.
