[verse 1] Answerende forsothe Job to the Lord, [verse 2] seide, I wot, for alle thingus thou maist, and no thoȝt is vnknowe to thee. [verse 3] Who is this, that hilith counseil withoute kun|nyng? Therfore vnwisly I spak, and tho thingus that ouer [other H.] maner shulden passe my kunnyng. [verse 4] Heere thou, and I shal speke; I shal aske thee, and answere thou to me. [verse 5] Bi hering of ere I herde thee, now forsothe myn eȝe seeth thee. [verse 6] Therfore I myself repreue me, and do penaunce in dead cole and askis [ashen A.] . in to thee, and in to thi two frendis; for ȝee han not spoke befor me riȝt, as my seruaunt Job. [verse 8] Taketh therfore to ȝou seuen bolis, and seuen wetheris; and goth to my seruaunt Job, and offreth for ȝou brent sacrifise. Job for|sothe, my seruaunt, shal preȝen for ȝou; his face I shal take, that folie be nott witid to ȝou; ne forsothe ȝee han spoken befor me riȝt, as my seruaunt Job. [verse 9] Thanne Elyfath Themanythes, and Baldach Suy|thes, and Sofar Naamatites, wenten, and diden, as the Lord hadde spoke to them; and the Lord toc the face of Job. [verse 10] The Lord also is turned to the penaunce of Job, whan he shulde preȝe for his frendis. And the Lord ȝaf to alle thingus, that euere weren of Job, double. [verse 11] And ther camen to hym alle his brethern, and alle his sistris, and alle that hadden knowen hym beforn; and thei eete with hym bred in his hous, and moueden vpon hym the hed; and coumforteden hym vp on al the euel, that the Lord hadde broȝt in vp on hym; and thei ȝeue to hym eche a shep, and a golden ere ring. [verse 12] The Lord for|sothe blisside to the laste thingus of Job, more than to his begynnyng; and ther ben maad to hym fourtene thousend of shep, and sixe thousend of camailis, and a thousend ȝokis of oxen, and a thou|send she assis. [verse 13] And ther weren to hym seue sones, and thre doȝtris; and he clepide the name of the ton Diem, and the name of the seconde Cassiam, and the name of the thridde Cornu tibij. [verse 14] Ther ben not forsothe founde so faire wym|men, as the doȝtris of Job, in al the lond; and ther fader ȝaf to hem eri|tage among ther brethern. [verse 15] Forsothe Job lyuede aftir these scourgis an hun|drid and fourti ȝeer, and saȝ his sones, and the sones of his sones, in to the
