[verse 1] But Saul, ȝit a blower [brether, or a blower K.] [a brethere, ei|ther a blowere, of manaasis; that is, kind|linge in him|self and othere men bi the greet wynd the fijer of perse|cuscioun aȝens hooly chirche. of manaasis; that is, with dispitouse wordis. and of beting; that is, with betingis and turmentis. aȝens disciplis; that is, aȝens men bileeuynge in to Crist, that weren seid thanne disci|plis, for thei weren not ȝit nemed Cristene men. cam nyȝ to the prince; he was not clepid herto, but he profride hymself, and was enflaumed with wille of anoyinge. axide of him epistlis; that bi autorite he myȝte more anoie feithful men. in to Da|mask; that he schulde pursue there feithful men, as he hadde do in Jerusalem. [verse 3] And whanne he made his iourney, it bifelde, that he cam nyȝ to Damask. And su|denli

a liȝt from heuene schoon aboute [verse 4] hym; and he fallide [felde plures. fel IMR.] to the erthe, and herde a vois seiynge to hym, Saul, Saul, what pursuest thou me [what pursuest thou me; in my membris, whiche Saul pursuede, and not Crist in his propir persone, that was glori|ouse and sat at the riȝthalf of the fadir. to kike, etc.; that is, aȝenstonde him that is strongere than thou withouten comparisoun. Ve. tremblide and wondride; of Cristis power knowen, whom he bileeuede not bifore for to rengne in heuene, but more to be dampned as a fals prophete. Lord, what wolt thou; as if he seide, fro this tyme forth, I am redy to obeie to thee in alle thingis. V. thei herden a vois; that is, the vois of Poul, but not of Crist, Ve. that spac with Poul, in 22 c^o. withinne; and therfore thei stood astonied. Lire here. v.] ? [verse 5] And he seide, Who art thou, Lord? And he seide, Y am Jhesu of Nazareth, whom thou pur|suest. It is hard to thee, to kike aȝens the pricke. [verse 6] And he tremblide, and won|dride, and seide, Lord, what wolt thou that Y do? [verse 7] And the Lord seide to hym, Rise vp, and entre in to the citee, and it schal be seide to thee, what it bihoueth thee to do. And tho men that wenten with hym, stoden astonyed; for thei herden a vois, but thei sien no man. [verse 8] And Saul roos fro the earth; and whanne hise iȝen weren opened, he say no thing. And thei drowen hym bi the hondis, and ledden hym in to Damask. [verse 9] And he was [was there K sec. m.] thre daies not seynge [not seeing; bi bodily siȝt, but he siȝ bi goostly siȝt, either bi siȝt of soule. For as doctouris seien comunly, in tho thre daies he was rauyschid til to the thridde heuene, and hadde that excellent reue|lacioun, in 2. pistle to Cor. 12 c^o. he eet not, neither drank; he was susteyned bi that visioun, as also Moises was xl. daies in the hil. Lire here. ve.] ; `and he eete not [neither he eet R.] , nether drank. [verse 10] And a disciple, Ananye bi name, was at Da|mask. And the Lord seide to hym in `a visioun [sleep Qgk.] , Ananye. And he seide, Lo! Y, Lord. [verse 11] And the Lord seide to hym, Rise thou, and go in to a streete that is clepid Rectus; and seke, in the hous of Judas, Saul bi name of Tharse. For [Om. [verse 12] he preieth; and he say [he say; bi the reuelacioun of God. puttinge to him hondis; this setting on of hondis was not lijc that, of which it is seid of the chapitre bifore goinge, that bi the setting on of hondis of apostlis the Hooly Goost was ȝouen in sensible singne; but this settinge on of hondis here was to bodily heelthe, as seint Laurence puttide hondis on blynde men, and thei resseyueden siȝt. Lire here. v.] a man, Ananye bi name, entringe and leiynge on hym hoondis, that he resseyue siȝt. [verse 13] And Ananye answerde, Lord, Y haue herd of many of this man, how greete yuelis [yuel a.] he [verse 14] dide to thi seyntis in Jerusalem; and this hath power of the princis [prince b.] of preestis, to bynde alle men that clepen thi name to helpe. [verse 15] And the Lord seide to hym, Go thou, for this is to me a vessel of chesing, that he bere my name bifore hethene men, and kingis, and tofore [bifore EKR.] the

sones of Israel. [verse 16] For Y schal schewe to hym, how grete thingis it bihoueth hym to suffre for my name. [verse 17] And Ananye wente, and entride in to the hous; and leide on hym his hondis, and seide, Saul brothir, the Lord Jhesu sente me [me to thee k.] , that apperide to thee in the weie, in which thou camest, that thou se, and be ful|fillid with the Hooli Goost. [verse 18] And anoon as the scalis felden fro hise iȝen, he res|seyuede siȝt. And he roos, and was bap|tisid. [verse 19] And whanne he hadde takun mete, he was coumfortid. And he was bi sum daies with the disciplis, that weren at Damask. [verse 20] And anoon he en|tride in to the synagogis, and prechide the Lord Jhesu, for this is the sone of God. [verse 21] And alle men that herden hym, wondriden, and seiden, Whether this is not he that impugnede in Jerusalem hem that clepiden to help this name? and hidir he cam for this thing, that he schulde leede hem boundun to the princis of preestis? [verse 22] But Saul myche more [the more EIKQRbceghkoαβ.] wex|ede strong, and confoundide the Jewis that dwelliden at Damask, and affermyde that this is Crist [this is Crist; that is, Jhesu of Nazareth is Crist ueryly bihiȝt in the lawe and pro|phetis; and he declaride this bi the scripturis of the elde tes|tament, which he lerned first of Gamaliel, Ve. afterward myche perfit|liere of God lyȝtnynge hym. whanne many daies weren fillid; that passide fro the dayes of Saule til to his com|yng aȝen fro Arabie in to Damask. Lyre here. V.] . [verse 23] And whanne manye daies weren fillid, Jewis maden a coun|sel, that thei schulden sle hym. [verse 24] And the aspies of hem weren maad knowun to Saul. And thei kepten the ȝatis dai and niȝt, that thei schulden sle him. [verse 25] But hise disciplis token hym bi nyȝt, and delyuereden hym, and leeten him doun in a leep bi the wal. [verse 26] And whanne he cam in to Jerusalem, he assaiede to ioyne hym to the disciplis; and alle dredden hym, and [and thei I.] leueden not that he was a disciple. [verse 27] But Barnabas took, and ledde hym to the apostlis, and telde to hem, how in the weie he hadde seyn the Lord, and that he spak to hym, and hou

[verse 32] And it bifelde, that Petre, the while he passide aboute alle [that Petir while he pass|ide aboute alle; men bileeuynge in to Crist that dwelliden in diuerse placis of Jude. And Petir as a good schepheerde ran aboute to conferme hem in the feith. cam to the holy men; that is, bileeuing in to Crist, that ben halewid bi bap|tym. V. KQO.] hadde leie `in bed [beedrede E.] ; and he was sijk in palsy [the palesie k.] . [verse 34] And Petre seide to hym, Eneas, the Lord Jhesu Crist heele thee; rise thou, and araye [ether dresse, ether make reedy K marg.] thee. And anoon he roos. [verse 35] And alle men that dwelten at Lidde, and at Sarone, saien hym, whiche weren conuertid to the Lord. [verse 36] And in Joppe was a disciplesse, whos name was Tabita, that is to seie, Dorcas. This was ful of good werkis and almesdedis, that sche dide. [verse 37] And it bifelde in tho daies, that sche was sijk, and diede. And whanne thei hadden waischun hir, thei leiden hir in a soler. [verse 38] And for Lidda was nyȝ Joppe, the disciplis herden that Petre was thereynne, and [and thei I.] senten twei men to hym, and preieden, That thou tarie not to come to vs. [verse 39] And Petre roos vp, and cam with hem. And whanne he was comun, thei ledden hym in to the soler. And alle [alle the I sec. m.] widewis stoden aboute hym, wepynge, and schewynge cootis and clothis, which Dorcas made

to hem. [verse 40] And whanne alle men weren put with out forth, Petre knelide, and preiede. And he turnede to the bodi, and seide, Tabita, rise [arise k.] thou. And sche openyde hir iȝen, and whanne sche siȝ Petre, sche sat vp aȝen [Om. R pr. m.] . [verse 41] And he took hir bi the hond, and reiside hir. And whanne he hadde clepid the hooli men and widewis, he assignede hir alyue. [verse 42] And it was maad [Om. k pr. m.] knowun bi al Joppe; and many bileueden in the Lord. [verse 43] And it was maad, that many daies he dwellide in Joppe, at oon Symount, a curiour.
