[verse 1] But wite thou this thing, that in the [Om. k pr. m.] laste daies perelouse tymes schulen neiȝe, [verse 2] and men schulen be louynge hem silf [Om. a.] , coueitouse, hiȝ of bering, proude, blas|femeris, not obedient to fadir and modir, [verse 3] vnkynde, cursid, with outen affeccioun, with out pees, false blameris, vnconty|nent [vnchaast R.] , [verse 4] vnmylde, with out benygnyte, trai|touris, ouerthwert [ouirwhert R.] , bollun with proude thouȝtis, blynde, loueris of lustis more [verse 5] than of God, hauynge the licknesse of pitee [ether of religion K marg.] , but denyynge the vertu of it. And eschewe thou these men. [verse 6] Of these thei ben that persen housis, and leden wymmen caitifs chargid with synnes, whiche ben led with dyuerse desiris, [verse 7] euere more lernynge, and neuere perfitli comynge to the science of treuthe. [verse 8] And as Jannes and Mambres aȝenstoden Moi|ses, so these aȝenstonden [aȝenstoden k.] treuthe [the treuthe O.] , men corrupt in vndirstonding, repreuyd aboute the feith. [verse 9] But ferthere thei schulen not profite, for the vnwisdom of hem schal be knowun to alle men, as hern was. [verse 10] But thou hast getun my teching, ordi|naunce, purposing, feith, long abiding, [verse 11] loue, pacience, persecuciouns, passiouns, whiche weren maad to me at Antioche, at Ycony, at Listris, what maner perse|cucyouns Y suffride, and the Lord hath delyuered me of alle. [verse 12] And alle men

that wolen lyue feithfuli in Crist Jhesu, schulen suffre persecucioun. [verse 13] But yuele men and disseyueris schulen encreese in to worse, errynge, and sendinge in to errour. [verse 14] But dwelle thou in these thingis that thou hast lerud [lerned alii.] , and that ben bi|takun to thee, witinge of whom thou [verse 15] hast lerud [lerned alii.] ; for thou hast knowun hooli lettris fro thi ȝouthe [ȝongthe alii.] , whiche moun lerne thee to heelthe, bi feith that is in Crist Jhesu. [verse 16] For al scripture inspirid of God is profitable to teche, to repreue, to chastice, to lerne in riȝtwisnes, that the man of God be parfit, lerud [lerned alii.] to al good werk.
