[verse 1] Therfor be ȝe foloweris of God, as [verse 2] moost dereworthe sones; and walke ȝe in loue, as Crist louyde vs, and ȝaf hym silf for vs an offryng and a sacrifice to God, in to the odour of swetnesse. [verse 3] And [Om. Ia sec. m.] fornycacioun, and al vnclennesse, or aueryce, be not named among ȝou, [verse 4] as it bicometh holi men; ethir filthe, or foli speche, or harlatrye, that perteyn|eth [profitith k.] not to profit, but more [more rathir I.] doyng of thankyngis. [verse 5] For wite ȝe this [this thing a sec. m.] , and vn|durstonde, that ech letchour, or vnclene man, or coueytouse, that serueth to mawmetis, hath not eritage in the king|dom of Crist and of God. [verse 6] No man disseyue ȝou bi veyn wordis [word Ecg.] ; for whi for these thingis the wraththe of God cam on [upon I.] the sones of vnbileue. [verse 7] Therfor nyle ȝe be maad [Om. k pr. m.] parteneris of hem. [verse 8] For ȝe weren sum tyme derknessis, but now `ȝe ben [Om. EIKQRbcghkoαβ.] liȝt in the Lord. Walke ȝe as

[verse 11] And nyle ȝe co|myne to vnfruytouse werkis of derk|nessis; but more [more rathir I.] repreue ȝe. [verse 12] For what thingis ben don of hem in priuy, it is foule, ȝhe, to speke. [verse 13] And alle thingis that ben repreuyd [that is, of holy men and good, that ben clepid the sones of liȝt. The Glose here. ve.] of the liȝt, ben opynli schewid; for [forwhi A pr. m. ak pr. m.] al thing that is schewid, is liȝt. [verse 14] For which thing he seith, Rise thou that slepist, and rise vp fro deth, and Crist schal liȝtne thee. [verse 15] Therfor, britheren [my britheren R.] , se ȝe, hou warli ȝe [verse 16] schulen go; not as vnwise men, but as wise men, aȝenbiynge tyme [the tyme R.] , for the daies ben yuele. [verse 17] Therfor nyle ȝe be maad [man A.] vnwise, but vndurstondynge which [the which k pr. m.] is the wille of God. [verse 18] And nyle ȝe be drunkun of wyn, in which is letcherie, but be ȝe fillid with the Hooli Goost; [verse 19] and speke ȝe to ȝou silf in salmes, and ymnes, and spiritual songis, syngynge and seiynge salm in ȝoure hertis to [verse 20] the Lord; euermore doynge thankingis for alle thingis in the name of oure Lord Jhesu Crist to God and to the fadir. [verse 21] Be ȝe suget togidere in the drede of Crist. [verse 22] Wymmen, be thei suget to [verse 23] her hosebondis, as to the Lord, for the man is heed of the wymman, as Crist is heed of the chirche; he is sauyour of his bodi. [verse 24] But as the chirche is suget to Crist, so [so and A pr. m. a sec. m. c pr. m. hoβ.] wymmen to her hosebondis in alle thingis [thingis leeful R.] . [verse 25] Men, loue ȝe ȝoure wyues, as Crist louyde the chirche, and [verse 26] ȝaf hym silf for it, to make it holi; and clenside it with the waisching of watir, [verse 27] in the word of lijf, to ȝyue the chirche

gloriouse to hym silf, that it hadde no wem, ne ryueling [ether wrynkele K marg.] , or ony siche thing, but that it be hooli and vndefoulid. [verse 28] So and men `schulen loue [loue thei CEKMQRUXa pr. m. bceghoαβ. schulen loue thei k pr. m.] her wyues, as her owne bodies. He that loueth his [verse 29] wijf, loueth hym silf; for no man hatide euere his owne fleisch, but nurischith and fostrith it, as Crist doith the chirche. [verse 30] And we ben membris of his bodi, of his fleisch, and of his boonys. [verse 31] For this thing a man schal forsake his fadir and modir, and he schal drawe to his wijf; and thei schulen be tweyne in o fleisch. [verse 32] This sacrament is greet; ȝhe, Y seie in Crist, and in the chirche. [verse 33] Netheles ȝe alle, ech man loue his wijf as hym silf; and the wijf drede hir hosebonde.
