[verse 1] What [What is more, that is, schal avail to him as myche as circumci|sioun. feith of God, that is, schal schewe thee worthi to be dampned. Ellis hou schal God deme this world? [verse 7] For if the treuthe of God hath aboundid in my leesyng, in to the glorie of hym, what ȝit am Y demed as a synner? [verse 8] And not as we ben blasfemed, and as summen [summe men I. summe Q pr. m. a sec. m.] seien that we seien, Do we yuele thingis, that gode thingis come. Whos damp|nacioun is iust. What thanne? [verse 9] Passen we hem? Nay; for we han schewid bi skile, that alle bothe Jewis and Grekis [verse 10] ben vndur synne, as it is writun, For [verse 11] ther is no man iust [there is no man iust, with|out the grace of God; this is soth of perfiȝt riȝtfulnesse that makith a man worthi euerlastinge blis. Lire here. e.] ; ther is no man vndurstondynge, nethir sekynge God. [verse 12] Alle bowiden awey, togidere thei ben maad vnprofitable; ther is noon [no man T.] that doith good thing, there is noon [not R. no man T.] `til to [vnto R.] oon. [verse 13] The throte of hem is an opyn sepulcre; with her tungis thei diden gile|fuli; the venym of snakis is vndur her lippis. [verse 14] The mouth of whiche [whom I.] is ful of [verse 15] cursyng [cursidnesse a.] and [and of k.] bitternesse; the feet of hem ben swifte to schede [schede out R.] blood. [verse 16] Sorewe and cursidnesse ben in the weies of hem, [verse 17] and thei knewen not the weie of pees; [verse 18] the [and the R.] drede of God is not bifor [tofore k.] her iȝen.

[verse 19] And we witen, that what euere thingis the lawe spekith, it spekith to hem that ben in the lawe, that ech mouth be stoppid, and ech world be maad suget to God. [verse 20] For of the werkis of the lawe ech fleisch schal not be iustified bifor hym; for bi the lawe ther is knowyng of synne. [verse 21] But now with outen the lawe the riȝtwisnesse [riȝtfulnesse b.] of God is schewid, that is witnessid of the lawe and the [of the I. Om. k pr. m.] pro|fetis. [verse 22] And the riȝtwisnesse of God is bi the feith of Jhesu Crist in to alle men and on alle men that bileuen in [in to CK sec. m. ab sec. m. k.] hym; for ther is no departyng. [verse 23] For alle men synneden, and han nede to the glorie [verse 24] of God [of God, that is, to the grace of God, bi which he apperith gloriouse. of dedis doing, that is, bi the elde lawe, that stood in flesch of obseru|aunces. of feith, that is, of the gospel. prepucie, or hethen men. [verse 27] Where thanne is thi glo|riyng [ioiȝynge R.] ? It is excludid. Bi what lawe? Of [Of the h.] dedis doyng? Nay, but by the lawe of feith. [verse 28] For we demen a man to be iustified bi the [Om. k pr. m.] feith, with outen werkis [the werkis a.] of the lawe. [verse 29] Whethir of Jewis [the Jewis RT.] is God oneli? Whether [Wher I.] he is not also of he|thene men? Ȝhis, and of hethene men. [verse 30] For `oon God is [ther is oo God I.] , that iustefieth circum|cisioun bi [of A sec. m. marg. α.] feith, and prepucie bi feith. [verse 31] Distruye we therfor the lawe bi the [Om.
