This is [Om. b.] Joon euangelist [the euangelist oek.] , oon of the [Om. O.] disciplis of the Lord, the which is [was C.] a virgyn chosun of God, whom God clepide fro the sposeilis, whanne he wolde be weddid; and double witnesse [witnessing T.] of virginyte is ȝouun to hym in the gospel; in this that he is seid loued of God byfor othere disciplis, and God [the Lorde T.] hongynge in [on NT.] the cros bitook his modir in kepyng to hym, that a virgyn schulde kepe a virgyn. [verse 1] In the bigynnyng was the word, and the word was at God, and God was the word. [verse 2] This was in the bigynnyng at God. [verse 3] Alle thingis weren maad bi hym, and withouten hym was maad no thing,

that thing that was maad. [verse 4] In hym was lijf, and the lijf was the liȝt of men; [verse 5] and the [Om. [verse 2] And he cam to Jhesu bi niȝt, and seide to hym, Rabi, we witen, that thou art comun fro God maister [a maistir S pr. m.] ; for no man may do these signes [thingis k pr. m.] , that thou doist, but God be with hym. [verse 3] Jhesus answerde, and seide to hym, Treuli, treuli, Y seie to thee, but a man be borun aȝen, he may not se the kyngdom of God. [verse 4] Nychodeme seide to hym, Hou may a man be borun, whanne he is eeld? whether [wher X.] he may entre aȝen [Om. S sec. m.] in to his modris [modir ERehi.] wombe, and be borun aȝen? [verse 5] Jhesus answeride, Treuli, treuli, Y seie to thee, but a man be borun aȝen of watir, and of the Hooli Goost, he may not entre in to the kyngdom of God. Jordan, to whom thou hast borun wit|nessyng, lo! he baptisith, and alle men comen to hym. [verse 27] Joon answerde, and seide, A man may not take ony thing, but it be ȝouun to hym fro heuene. [verse 29] He that hath a wijf, is the hose|bonde; but the freend of the spouse [hosebonde a.] that stondith, and herith hym, ioieth with ioye, for the vois of the spouse. Therfor in this thing my ioye is fulfillid. [verse 30] It bi|houeth hym to wexe, but me to be maad lesse. [verse 31] He that cam from aboue, is aboue alle; he that is of the erthe, spekith of the erthe; he that cometh from heuene, is aboue alle. [verse 32] And he witnessith that thing that he hath seie, and herde, and no man takith his witnessing. [verse 33] But he that takith his witnessyng, hath confermyd that God is sothefast. [verse 1] Therfor as Jhesu knew, that the Fa|risees herden, that Jhesu makith and [verse 2] baptisith mo disciplis than Joon, thouȝ Jhesus baptiside not, but hise disciplis, [verse 3] he lefte Judee, and wente aȝen in to Galilee. [verse 4] And it bihofte hym to passe bi Samarie. [verse 5] Therfor Jhesus cam in to a

Y haue noon hosebonde. Jhesus seith to hir, Thou seidist wel, That Y haue noon [verse 18] hosebonde; for thou hast hadde fyue hosebondis, and he that thou hast, is not thin hosebonde. This thing thou seidist sotheli. [verse 19] The womman seith to hym, Lord, Y se, that thou art a prophete. [verse 20] Oure fadris worschipiden [worschipiden God k.] in this hil, and ȝe seien, that at Jerusalem is a place, where it bihoueth to worschipe. [verse 21] Jhesus seith to hir, Womman, bileue thou to me, for the our schal come, whanne nether in this hil, nethir in Jerusalem, [verse 22] ȝe schulen worschipe the fadir. [verse 1] Afterward Jhesus eftsoone schewide hym to hise disciplis, at the see of Tibe|rias. And he schewide him thus. [verse 2] There weren togidere Symount Petre, and Tho|mas, that is seid Didimus, and Nathanael, that was [is O.] of the Cane of Galilee, and the sones of Zebedee, and tweyne othere of hise disciplis.
