make ȝou with outen the [Om. I.] synagogis, but the our cometh, that ech man that sleeth ȝou, deme [demeth O.] that he doith seruyce to God. [verse 3] And thei schulen do to ȝou these thingis, for thei han not knowun the fadir, ne|ther me. [verse 4] But these thingis Y spak to ȝou, that whanne the our `of hem [Om. O.] schal come [come of hem O.] , ȝe haue mynde, that Y seide to ȝou. [verse 5] Y seide not to ȝou these thingis fro the bigynnyng, for Y was with ȝou. And now Y go to hym that sente me, and no man of ȝou axith me, Whidur [verse 6] `thou goist [goost thou hik sec. m. β.] ? but for Y haue spokun to ȝou these thingis, heuynesse hath fulfillid ȝoure herte. [verse 7] But Y seie to ȝou treuthe, it spedith to ȝou, that Y go; for if Y go not forth, the coumfortour schal not come to ȝou; but if Y go forth, Y schal sende hym to ȝou. [verse 8] And whanne he cometh, he schal repreue the world of synne, and of riȝtwisnesse, and of doom. [verse 9] Of synne, [verse 10] for thei han not bileued in [to k.] me; and of riȝtwisnesse, for Y go to the fadir, and [verse 11] now ȝe [thei g.] schulen not se me; but of doom, for the prince of this world is now demed. [verse 12] Ȝit Y haue many thingis for [Om. Cbek.] to seie to ȝou, but ȝe moun not bere hem now. [verse 13] But whanne thilke [the b.] spirit of treuthe cometh, he schal teche ȝou al trewthe; for he schal not speke of hym silf, but what euer thinges he schal here, he schal speke; and he schal telle to ȝou tho thingis that ben to come. [verse 14] He schal clarifie me, for of myne he schal take, and schal telle to ȝou. [verse 15] Alle thingis `whiche euer [what euer EP. what euere thingis I.] the fadir hath, ben myne; therfor Y seide to ȝou, for [that I.] of myne he schal take, and schal telle to ȝou. [verse 16] A litil, and thanne ȝe schulen not se me; and eftsoone a litil, and [and than O.] ȝe schulen se me, for Y go to the fadir. [verse 18] Therfor thei seiden, What is this that he seith to vs, A litil? we witen not what he spekith. [verse 19] And Jhesus knew, that thei wolden axe hym, and he seide to hem, Of this thing ȝe seken among ȝou, for Y seide, A litil, and ȝe schulen not se me; and eftsoone a litil, and ȝe schulen se me. [verse 20] Treuli, treuli, Y seie to ȝou, that ȝe schulen mourne and wepe, but the world schal haue ioye; and ȝe schulen be soreuful, but ȝoure sorewe schal turne in to ioye. [verse 21] A wom|man whanne sche berith child, hath heuynesse, for hir tyme is comun; but whanne sche hath borun a sone, now sche thenkith not on the peyne, for ioye, for a man is borun in to the world. [verse 22] And therfor ȝe han now sorew, but eftsoone Y schal se ȝou, and ȝoure herte schal haue ioie, and no man schal take fro ȝou ȝoure ioie. [verse 23] And in that day ȝe schulen not axe me ony thing; treuli, treuli, `Y seie to ȝou [Om. O.] , if ȝe axen the fadir ony thing in my name, he schal ȝyue to ȝou. [verse 24] `Til now ȝe axiden no thing in my name [Om. O.] ; `axe ȝe [axeth I.] , `and ȝe schulen take, that ȝoure ioie be ful [that ȝoure ioie be ful, and ȝe schulen take obchik pr. m.] . [verse 25] Y haue spokun to ȝou these thingis in prouerbis; the our cometh, whanne now Y schal not speke to ȝou in prouerbis, but opynli of my fadir Y schal telle to ȝou. [verse 26] In that dai ȝe schulen axe in my name; and Y seie not to ȝou, that Y schal preye the [verse 27] fadir of [for h sec. m. ik pr. m.] ȝou; for the fadir hym silf loueth ȝou, for ȝe han loued me, and han bileued, that Y wente out fro God. [verse 28] Y [And I b pr. m. k pr. m.] wente out fro the fadir, and Y cam in to the world; eftsoone [and eftsone Ek pr. m.] Y leeue the world, and Y [Om. i.] go to the fadir. [verse 29] Hise

disciplis seiden to hym, Lo! now thou spekist opynli, and thou seist no pro|uerbe. [verse 30] Now we witen, that thou wost [wotist R.] alle thingis; and it is not [no b.] nede to thee, that ony man axe thee. In this thing we bileuen, that thou wentist out fro God. [verse 31] Jhesus answeride to hem, Now ȝe bileuen. [verse 32] Lo! the our cometh, and now it cometh, that ȝe be disparplid, ech in to hise owne thingis, and that ȝe leeue me aloone; and Y am not aloone, for the fadir is with me. [verse 33] These thingis Y haue spokun to ȝou, that ȝe haue pees in me; in the world ȝe schulen haue disese, but trust ȝe, Y haue ouercomun the world.
