[verse 5] In the daies of Eroude, kyng of Judee, ther was a prest, Sakarie bi name, of the sorte of Abia, and his wijf was of the douȝtris of Aaron, and hir name was Elizabeth. [verse 6] And bothe [bothe thei I.] weren iust bifor God, goynge in alle the maundementis and iustifiyngis of the Lord, withouten pleynt. [verse 7] And thei hadden no child, for Elizabeth was bareyn, and bothe weren of grete age in her daies. [verse 8] And it bifel, that whanne Zacarie schulde do the office of preesthod, in the [Om. [verse 7] And dwelle ȝe in the same hous, etynge and drynkynge tho thingis that ben at hem; for a werk man is worthi his hire. Nyle ȝe passe from hous in to hous. [verse 8] And in to what euer citee ȝe entren, and thei resseyuen ȝou, ete ȝe tho thingis that ben [verse 9] set to ȝou; and heele ȝe the [Om. A.] sijke men that ben in that citee. And seie ȝe to hem, The kyngdom of God schal neiȝe in [Om. S.] to ȝou. [verse 40] And whanne he hadde seid this thing, he schewide hoondis and feet to hem. [verse 41] And ȝit while thei bileueden not, and wondriden for ioye, he seide, Han ȝe here ony thing that schal be etun? [verse 42] And thei proferden hym [to him Xaeα.] a part of a fisch rostid, and an hony combe. [verse 43] And whanne he hadde etun bifore hem, he [and he S. and hi.] [verse 44] took that that lefte, and ȝaf to hem; and seide `to hem [Om. [verse 46] And he seide to hem, For thus it is writun, and thus it bihofte Crist to suf|fre, and ryse aȝen fro deeth in [Om. k pr. m.] the [verse 47] thridde dai; and penaunce and remys|sioun of synnes to be prechid in his name `in to [to CEPQI pr. m. [verse 48] And ȝe ben witnessis of these thingis. [verse 49] And Y schal sende the biheest of my fadir in to ȝou; but sitte ȝe in the citee, til that [Om. X pr. m.] ȝe be clothid with vertu from an hiȝ. [verse 50] And he ledde hem forth in to Betanye, and whanne his hondis weren lift vp, he blesside hem. [verse 51] And it was don, the while he blesside hem, he departide fro hem, and was borun in to heuene. [verse 52] And thei worschipiden, and wenten aȝen in to Jerusalem with greet [verse 53] ioye, and weren [thei weren k pr. m.] euermore in the temple, heriynge and blessynge God.
