[verse 1] And the Farisees and summe of the scribis camen fro Jerusalem togidir to hym. [verse 2] And whanne thei hadden seen summe of hise disciplis ete breed with vnwaisschen hoondis, thei blameden [blameden hem K. X sec. m. k.] . [verse 3] The [For the k.] Farisees and alle [Om. X.] the Jewis eten not, but thei waisschen ofte her hoondis, holdynge the tradiciouns of eldere men. [verse 4] And whanne thei turnen aȝen fro chep|yng, thei eten not, but thei ben waisschen; and many other thingis ben [ther ben I.] , `that ben [Om. ghi.] taken [bitaken K.] `to hem [Om. E.] to kepe [kepe, as k pr. m.] , wasschyngis [wasshinge ESk.] of cuppis, and of [Om. S pr. m. hi.] watir vessels, and of [Om. S pr. m. hi.] vessels of bras, and of beddis. [verse 5] And Farisees and scribis axiden hym, and seiden, Whi gon not thi disciplis aftir the tradicioun of eldere men, but with vnwasschen hondis thei eten breed? [verse 6] And he answeride, and seide to hem, Ysaie prophesiede wel of ȝou, ypocritis, as it is writun, This puple worschipith me with [verse 7] lippis, but her herte is fer fro me; and in veyn thei worschipen me, techinge the doctrines and the heestis of men. [verse 8] For ȝe leeuen the maundement [maundementes A sec. m. EKPQRα.] of God, and holden the tradiciouns of men, wasschyngis [waischinge IR sec. m. k sec. m. α. as waischinge k pr. m.] of [Om. i.] watir vessels, and of cuppis; and many othir thingis lijk to [Om. k.]

these ȝe doon. [verse 9] And he seide to hem, Wel ȝe han maad the maundement of God voide, `to kepe [for k.] ȝoure tradicioun. [verse 10] For Moyses seide, Worschipe thi fadir and thi modir; and he that cursith fadir or modir, die he [Om. C et plures et αβ.] by deeth. [verse 11] But ȝe seien, If a man seie to fadir or modir, Corban, that is, What euer ȝifte is of me, it schal [verse 12] profite to thee; and ouer ȝe suffren not [verse 13] hym do ony thing to fadir or modir, and ȝe breken the word of God bi ȝoure tra|dicioun, that ȝe han ȝouun; and ȝe don many suche thingis. [verse 14] And he eftsoone clepide the puple, and seide to hem, Ȝe alle here me, and vndurstonde. [verse 15] No thing that is withouten a man, that entrith in to hym, may defoule him; but tho thingis that comen forth of a man, tho it ben that defoulen a man. [verse 16] If ony man haue [hath Rbehikα.] eeris of hering, here he. [verse 17] And whanne he was entrid in to an hous, fro the puple, hise disciplis axiden hym the parable. [verse 18] And he seide to hem, Ȝe ben vnwise also. Vndurstonde ȝe not, that al thing without forth that entreth [verse 19] in to a man, may not defoule hym? for it hath not entrid in to his herte, but in to the wombe, and bynethe it goith out, purgynge alle metis. [verse 20] But he seide, The [Tho Ek.] thingis that gon out of a man, tho de|foulen a man. [verse 21] For fro with ynne, of the herte of men comen [cometh hi.] forth yuel thouȝtis, [verse 22] auowtries, fornycaciouns, mansleyingis, theftis, auaricis, wickidnessis, gile, vn|chastite, yuel iȝe, blasfemyes, pride, foli. [verse 23] Alle these yuels comen forth fro with ynne, and defoulen a man. [verse 24] And Jhesus roos vp fro thennus, and wente in to the coostis of Tyre and of [Om. CS pr. m. eghikαβ.] Sidon. man wiste; and he myȝte not be hid. [verse 25] For a womman, anoon as sche herd of hym, whos douȝtir hadde an vnclene spi|rit, entride, and fel doun at hise feet. [verse 26] And the womman was hethen, of the ge|neracioun of Sirofenyce. And sche prei|ede hym, that he wolde caste out a deuel fro hir douȝter. [verse 27] And he seide to hir, Suffre thou, that the [Om. k sec. m.] children be fulfillid first; for it is not good to take the breed of children, and ȝyue to houndis. [verse 28] And sche answeride, and seide to him, Ȝis, Lord; for litil whelpis eten vndur the bord, of the crummes of children [litil children k pr. m.] . [verse 29] And Jhesus seide to hir, Go thou, for this word the feend wente out of thi douȝtir. [verse 30] And whanne sche was gon in to hir hous home, sche foonde the damysel lig|gynge on the bed, and the deuel gon out fro [of c.] hir. [verse 31] And eftsoones Jhesus ȝede out fro the coostis of Tire, and cam thorou Sidon to the see of Galilee, bitwixe [bitwene k.] the myddil of the coostis of Decapoleos. [verse 32] And thei bryngen to hym a man deef and doumbe, and preieden hym to leye his hoond [hondis k.] on hym. [verse 33] And he took hym asidis fro the puple, and puttide [putte I.] hise fyngris in to hise eris; and he spetide [spette EIPQRSXa. spatte c.] , and touchide his tonge. [verse 34] And he bihelde in to heuene, and sorewide with ynne, and seide, Effeta, that is, Be thou open|yd. [verse 35] And anoon hise eris weren openyd, and the boond of his tunge was vn|boundun, and he spak riȝtli. [verse 36] And he comaundide to hem, that thei schulden seie to no man; but hou myche he co|maundide to hem, so myche more [the more Ihi.] thei [verse 37] prechiden, and bi so myche more [the more I.] thei wondriden, and seiden, He dide wel alle
