[verse 1] Pask and the feest of therf looues was after twei [two IQ.] daies. And the hiȝest [hiȝe I.] preestis and scribis [the scribis S.] souȝten, hou thei schulden holde hym with gile, and sle. [verse 2] But thei seiden, Not in the feeste dai, lest perauen|ture a [Om. EQRckβ.] noyse were maad among the pu|ple. [verse 3] And whanne he was at Betanye, in the hous of Symount leprous [Om. S pr. m.] , and restide, a womman cam, that hadde a boxe of alabastre of precious oynement spikenard; and whanne the boxe of ala|bastre was brokun, sche helde [heelte P. schedde k.] it on his heed. [verse 4] But there weren summe that beren it heuyli with ynne hem silf, and seiden, Wher to is this losse of oynement maad? [verse 5] For this oynement myȝte haue be seld more [for more cik.] than for [Om. C.] thre hundrid pens, and be ȝouun to pore men. And

thei groyneden [grucheden CEIKMPQRS sec. m. UXbceghikαβ.] aȝens hir. [verse 6] But Jhesus seide, Suffre ȝe hir; what be ȝe heuy to hir? sche hath wrouȝt a good werk in me. [verse 7] For [Forsothe I.] euermore ȝe schulen haue pore men with ȝou, and whanne ȝe wolen [wil E et P passim.] , ȝe moun do wel to hem; but ȝe schulen not euer more haue me. [verse 8] Sche dide that that [Om. K pr. m.] sche hadde; sche cam bifore to anoynte my bodi in to biriyng. [verse 10] And Judas Scarioth, oon of the twelue, wente to the hiȝest [hiȝe I.] prestis, to bitraye hym to hem. [verse 11] And thei herden, and ioyeden, and bihiȝten to ȝyue hym money. And he souȝt hou he schulde bitraye hym couenabli. [verse 14] And whidur euer he entrith, seie ȝe to the lord of the hous, That the maister seith, Where is myn etynge place, where Y schal ete pask with my disciplis? [verse 15] And he schal schewe to ȝou a grete soupyng place arayed, and there make ȝe [Om. e.] redi to vs. [verse 16] And hise disciplis wenten forth, and camen in to the citee, and founden as he hadde seid to hem; and thei maden redy the pask. [verse 17] And whanne the euentid was come, he cam with the twelue. [verse 18] And whanne thei saten `at the [atte P.] mete, and eeten, Jhesus seide, Treuli Y seie to ȝou, that oon of ȝou that etith with me, schal bitray me.

[verse 19] And thei bigunnen to be sori, and to seie to hym, ech bi hem silf, Whether Y? [verse 20] Which [The whiche I.] seide to hem, Oon of twelue [the twelue Ikαβ.] that puttith the [his I.] hoond with me in the platere. [verse 21] And sotheli mannus sone goith, as it is writun of hym; but wo to that man, by whom mannus sone schal be bitrayed. It were good to hym, yf thilke man hadde not be borun. [verse 22] And while thei eeten, Jhesus took breed, and blessid, and brak, and ȝaf to hem, and seide, Take ȝe; this is my bodi. [verse 23] And whanne he hadde take the cuppe, he dide thankyngis, and ȝaf to hem, and alle dronken therof. [verse 24] And he seide to hem, This is my blood of the newe testament, which [the whiche I.] schal be sched for many. [verse 25] Treuli Y seye to ȝou, for now Y schal not drynke of this fruyt of vyne [the vyne Ik.] , in to that dai whane Y schal drynke it newe in the rewme of God. [verse 26] And whanne the ympne was seid, thei wenten out in to the hil of Olyues. [verse 27] And Jhesus seide to hem, Alle ȝe schulen be sclaundrid in me in this nyȝt; for it is writun, Y schal smyte the scheep|herde, and the scheep of the flok schulen be disparplid [ether sprad abrood K marg.] . [verse 28] But aftir that Y schal rise aȝen, Y schal go bifor ȝou in to Galilee. [verse 29] And Petir seide to hym, Thouȝ alle schulen be sclaundrid, but not Y. [verse 30] And Jhesus seide to hym, Treuli Y seie to thee, that to dai bifore that the cok in this niȝt crowe twies, thou schalt thries denye me. [verse 31] But he seide more, Thouȝ it bihoueth [bihoue CIkβ.] , that Y die togider with thee, Y schal not forsake thee. And in lijk maner alle seiden. [verse 32] And thei camen in to a place, whos name is Gethsamany. And he seide to hise disciplis, Sitte ȝe here, while Y preye. [verse 33] And he took Petir

And he seide to Petir, Symount, slepist thou? myȝtist thou not wake with me oon our? [verse 38] Wake ȝe [Om. hi.] , and `preie ȝe [preieth I.] , that ȝe entre not in to temptacioun; for the spirit is redi, but the fleische is sijk. [verse 39] And eftsoone he ȝede, and preiede, and seide the same [verse 40] word; and [and he I.] turnede aȝen eftsoone, and foond hem slepynge; for [forsothe I.] her iȝen weren heuyed. And thei knewen not, what thei schulden answere to hym. [verse 41] And he cam the thridde tyme, and seide to hem, Slepe ȝe now, and reste ȝe; it suffisith. The hour is comun; lo! mannus sone schal be bitraied in to the hondis of synful men. [verse 42] Rise ȝe, go we; lo! he that schal bitraye me is nyȝ. [verse 43] And ȝit while he spak, Judas Scarioth, oon of the twelue, cam, and with him miche puple with swerdis and staues, sent fro the hiȝest [hiȝe I.] prestis, and the [Om. IR.] scribis, and fro the eldre men. [verse 44] And his traytour hadde ȝouun to hem a tokene, and seide, Whom euer Y kisse, he it is; holde ȝe hym, and lede ȝe [ȝe him S.] warli. [verse 50] Thanne alle hise disciplis forsoken hym, and fledden. [verse 51] But a ȝong man, clothid with lynnun cloth on the bare, suede hym; and thei helden hym. [verse 52] And he lefte the lynnyn clothing [clothes EP.] , and fleiȝ nakid awei fro hem. [verse 53] And thei ledden Jhesu to the hiȝest preest. And alle the prestis and scribis and eldere men camen togidir. [verse 54] But Petir suede hym afer in to the halle of the hiȝest preest. And he sat with the mynystris [seruauntis k.] , and warmede hym at the fier. [verse 55] And the hiȝest prestis, and al the counsel, souȝten witnessyng aȝens Jhesu to take hym to the [Om. b.] deeth; but thei founden not. [verse 56] For [Forsothe I.] manye seiden fals witnessyng [witness|vngis A sec. m. C pr. m.] aȝens hym, and the wit|nessyngis weren not couenable. [verse 57] And summe risen vp, and baren fals witness|yng [verse 58] aȝens hym, and seiden, For we `han herd [herden I.] hym seiynge, Y schal vndo this temple maad with hondis, and aftir the thridde dai Y schal bilde another not maad with hondis. [verse 59] And the witness|yng [witnessingis bk.] `of hem [Om. k.] was [weren k.] not couenable. [verse 60] And the hiȝest prest roos vp [Om. S sec. m.] in to the myd|dil, and axide Jhesu, and seide, An|swerist thou no thing to tho thingis that ben put aȝens thee of these? [verse 61] But he was stille, and answeride no thing. Eft|soone the hiȝest [hiȝe I.] prest axide hym, and seide to hym, Art thou Crist, the sone of the blessid God? [verse 62] And Jhesus seide

to hym, Y am; and ȝe schulen se man|nus sone sittynge on the [Om. R pr. m.] riȝthalf of the vertu of God, and comynge in the cloudis of heuene. [verse 63] And the hiȝest [hiȝe I.] preest to|rente hise clothis, and seide, What ȝit dissiren [diseren S.] we witnessis? [verse 64] Ȝe han herd blasfemye. What semeth to ȝou? And thei alle condempneden hym to be gilti of deeth. [verse 65] And summe bigunnen to bi|spete hym, `and to hile his face [Om. EP.] , and to smite hym [Om. R pr. m.] with buffetis, and seie [seiden C. to seie eka. seyne i.] to hym, Areede thou. And the mynystris beeten hym with strokis. [verse 66] And whanne Petir was in the halle bynethen, oon of the damesels of the hiȝest [hiȝe I.] prest cam. [verse 67] And whanne sche hadde seyn Petir warmynge hym, sche bihelde hym, and seide, And thou were with Jhesu of Nazareth. [verse 68] And he denyede, and seide, Nethir Y woot, nethir Y knowe, what thou seist. And he wente without forth bifor the halle; and anoon the cok crewe. [verse 69] And eftsoone whanne another damesel hadde seyn hym, sche bigan to seye to men that stoden aboute, That this [he this I.] is of hem. And he eftsoone denyede. [verse 70] And aftir a litil, eftsoone thei that stoden nyȝ, seiden to Petir, Verili thou art of hem, for thou art of Galilee also. [verse 71] But he bigan to curse and to [Om. e.] swere, For Y knowe not this man, whom [of whom k.] ȝe seien. And anoon eftsoones the cok crew. [verse 72] And Petir bithouȝte on the word that Jhesus hadde seide to hym, Bifor the cok crowe twies, thries thou schalt denye me. And he bigan to wepe.
