CAP. XXVI.
[verse 1] And it was doon, whanne Jhesus hadde endid alle [Om. Q.] these wordis, he seide to [verse 2] hise disciplis, Ȝe witen, that aftir twei daies pask schal be maad, and mannus sone schal be bitakun to be crucified. [verse 3] Than the princes of prestis and the elder men of the puple were gaderid in to the halle of the prince [princes R.] of prestis, that [verse 4] was seid Cayfas, and maden a counsel to [verse 5] holde Jhesu with gile, and sle him; but thei seiden, Not in the haliday, lest per|auenture noyse were maad in the puple. [verse 6] And [But e pr. m.] whanne Jhesus was in Betanye, in [verse 7] the hous of Symount leprous [the leprous A pr. m. CMSUbceghikβ.] , a wom|man that hadde a box of alabastre of precious oynement, cam to hym, and schedde [schedde it I.] out on the heed of hym rest|ynge. [verse 8] And disciplis [the disciplis EIKPhik. hise disciplis g.] seynge hadden de|deyn, and seiden, Wherto this [is this Iα.] loss? [verse 9] for [forsothe I.] it myȝte be seld for myche, and be ȝouun to pore men. [verse 10] But Jhesus knewe, and seide to hem, What ben ȝe heuy [ether sorie K marg.] to this womman? for [forsothe I.] sche hath wrouȝt in me a good werk. [verse 11] For ȝe schulen euere haue pore men with ȝou, but ȝe schulen not algatis haue me. [verse 12] This [For this EP sec. m.] womman sendynge this oynement in to my bodi, dide to birie me. [verse 13] Treuli [And treuly I.] Y seie to ȝou, where euer this gospel schal be prechid in al the world, it schal be seid, that sche dide this, in mynde of hym. [verse 14] Thanne oon of the twelue, that was clepid Judas Scarioth, wente forth to the princis of [verse 15] prestis, and seide to hem, What wolen ȝe ȝyue to me, and Y schal bitake hym to ȝou? And thei ordeyneden to hym thretti pans [pens CQRβ. penis ES. platis I. pecis K.] of siluer. [verse 16] And fro that tyme he souȝte oportunyte [or best tyme C marg.] , to bitraye
