[verse 3] Therfor kepe ȝe, and do ȝe alle thingis, what euer thingis thei seien to you. But nyle ȝe [Om. R pr. m.] do aftir her werkis; for thei seien, and don not. [verse 4] And thei bynden greuouse chargis, and that moun not be borun, and putten on schuldris of men; but with her fyngur thei wolen not moue hem. [verse 17] Ȝe foolis and blynde, for what is grettere, the gold, or the temple that halewith the gold? [verse 18] And who euer swerith in the auter, it is no thing; but he that swer|ith in the ȝifte that is on the auter, ow|ith. [verse 19] Blynde men, for what is more, the ȝifte, or the auter that halewith the ȝifte? [verse 20] Therfor he that swerith in the auter, swerith in it, and in alle thingis that ben ther on. [verse 28] So ȝe with out|forth semen iust to men; but with ynne ȝe ben ful of ypocrisy and [and of I.] wickidnesse. [verse 29] Wo to ȝou, scribis and Farisees, ipocritis, that bilden sepulcris of profetis, and [verse 30] maken faire the birielis of iust men, and seien, If we hadden be in the daies of oure fadris, we schulden not haue be her felowis in the blood of prophetis. [verse 31] And so ȝe ben in witnessyng to ȝou silf, that ȝe ben the sones of hem that slowen the prophetis. [verse 32] And fulfille [fille b.] ȝe [Om. S.] the mesure of ȝoure fadris. [verse 33] Ȝe eddris [that is, buriownyng of eddris, that sleen her modris. K marg.] , and eddris briddis, hou schulen ȝe fle fro the doom of helle? [verse 34] Therfor lo! Y sende to ȝou profetis, and wise men, and scribis; and of hem ȝe schulen sle and crucifie, and of hem ȝe schulen scourge in ȝoure sina|gogis, and schulen pursue fro cite in to [verse 35] citee; that al the iust blood come on

[verse 37] Jerusalem, Jerusalem, that sleest prophetis, and stoonest hem that ben sent to thee, hou ofte wolde Y gadere togidere thi chil|dren, as an henne gaderith togidir her chikenes vndir hir wengis, and thou woldist not. [verse 38] Lo! ȝoure hous schal be left to ȝou desert. [verse 39] And Y seie to ȝou, ȝe schulen not se me fro hennus forth, til ȝe seien, Blessid is he, that cometh in the name of the Lord.
