[verse 38] what thingis we forȝauen; for what euere thingis we ordeynen [ordeyneden I.] to ȝou, ben stable. The strengthis that ȝe bildiden, be to ȝou; [verse 39] and we forgyuen ignorances and synnes, til in to this dai, and the coroun that ȝe ouȝten; and if ony other thing was tri|butarie [tributarie, ether boundun to tribute CFGHIKMNPQSUXe.] in Jerusalem, now be it not tri|butarie. [verse 40] And if ony of ȝou ben able for to be writun togidere among oure men, be thei writun togidere, and pees be bitwixe vs [ȝou R.] . [verse 41] In the hundrid ȝeer and seuentithe [seuenti ȝeer R.] , the ȝok of hethene men was takun awei fro Israel. [verse 42] And the puple began for [Om. R.] to write in tablis, and comyn doyngis, in the firste ȝeer vndur Symount, hiȝeste prest, greet duyk, and prince of Jewis. [verse 43] In tho daies Symount appliede to Gasan, and enuyrownyde it with tentis [tentis, ether men of armeris C. tentis, either men of armes FGHKMNQSUXe.] , and made engines, and appliede to the citee, and smoot o tour, and took it. [verse 44] And thei that braken out, weren with ynne the engyne [that is, fled|den to sum strong hold of the citee, which strong hold was clepid so. Lire here. [verse 49] Forsothe thei that weren in the hiȝ tour of Jerusalem, weren forbodun for to go out and go yn, in to the cuntre, and bie, and sille; and thei hungriden greetli, and many of hem pe|rischiden for hungur. [verse 50] And thei crieden
