[verse 1] Wo to ȝou, that ben ful of richessis in Sion, and tristen [tristenen HIQRSU.] in the hil of Samarie, ȝe principal men, the heedis of puplis, that goen proudli in [Om. A pr. m. [verse 2] Go ȝe in to Calamye [the calamye I.] , and se ȝe, and go ȝe fro thennus in to Emath the greet; and go ȝe doun in to Geth of Palestyns, and to alle the beste rewmes of hem, if her terme be broddere than ȝoure terme. [verse 3] And ȝe ben departid in to yuel [the yuel U.] dai, and neiȝen to the [Om. A pr. m. CEFGHMNPQRSX U pr. m.] [verse 4] seete of wickidnesse; and ȝe slepen in beddis of yuer, and doen letcherie in ȝoure beddis; and ȝe eten a lomb of the flok, and [verse 5] calues of the myddil of droue [the droue U pr. m.] ; and ȝe syngen at vois [the vois IS.] of sautree. As Dauid thei gessiden hem for to haue instrumentis of [verse 6] song, and drynken wyn in viols; and with beste oynement thei weren anoynted; and in no thing thei hadden compassioun on the sorewe, ether defoulyng, of Joseph. [verse 7] Wherfor now thei schulen passe in the

heed of men passynge ouer, and the do|yng [doyng, or [ether Y] tresoun CEFGHKMNPQRSXY. feyned doing, either tresoun U sec. m.] of men doynge letcherie schal be don awei. [verse 8] The Lord God swoor in his soule, seith the Lord God of oostis, Y wlate [wlatide X pr. m.] the pride of Jacob, and Y hate the housis of hym, and Y schal bitake the citee with [verse 9] hise dwelleris; that if ten men ben left [residue, ether left CEFGHIMNPQSUXY. residue R.] in oon hous, and [also U.] thei schulen die. [verse 10] And his neiȝbore schal take hym, and schal brenne hym, that he bere out boonys of the hous. And he schal seie to hym, that is in the [verse 11] priuy places [place N.] of the hous, Whether ther is ȝit anentis thee? And he schal answer, An ende is. And he schal seie to hym, Be thou stille, and thenke thou not on the name of the Lord. [verse 12] For lo! the Lord schal co|maunde, and schal smyte the grettere hous with fallyngis, and the lesse hous with brekyngis [keruyngis, ether brekingis CEFGHIKMNPQRSUX.] . [verse 13] Whether horsis moun renne in stoonys, ether it mai be eerid with [in CEFGHIKMNPQRSUXY.] wielde oxun? For ȝe turneden doom in to bitternesse, and the fruyt of riȝtful|nesse [riȝtwisnesse CFGHIKMNPQRSUXY.] in to wermod. [verse 14] And ȝe ben glad in nouȝt, and ȝe seien, Whether not in oure strengthe we token to vs hornes? [verse 15] Lo! Y schal reise on ȝou, the hous of Israel, seith the Lord God of oostis, a folc; and it schal al to-breke ȝou fro entre [the entre IU sec. m.] of Emath `til to [vnto I.] the streem of desert.
