[verse 1] Forsothe Joob answeride to the Lord, [verse 2] and seide, Y woot, that thou maist alle thingis, and [and that I.] no thouȝt [thing I.] is hid fro thee [Y wot that thou maist alle thingis, and no thouȝt is hid fro thee; Joob wiste wel, that in remembringe his riȝtfulnesse he suffride sum stiring of veyn|glorie, which is wont to come liȝtly in siche thingis, ȝhe, in men that ben perfit. Y spak vnwisely; in preisinge my riȝtfulnesse. that passiden ouer mesure; in enqueringe ouer myche the resouns of Goddis domes. C.] . [verse 3] Who is [is he I.] this, that helith counsel with out kunnyng? Therfor Y spak [haue spoke I.] vnwiseli, and tho thingis that passiden ouer mesure my kunnyng. [verse 4] Here [Loord, here I.] thou, and Y schal speke; Y schal axe thee, and answere thou to me. [verse 5] Bi heryng of eere Y herde [haue herde I.] thee, but now myn iȝe seeth thee. thi twey frendis [aȝenus thee and thi twey frendis; God seith not aȝenus Helyu, ether aȝenus Joob; for whi to do synne bi presumpcioun, ether bi vnwar speking, as He|lyu and Joob diden, is not so greuouse synne as to do synne bi afermyng of falsnesse, which bifelde to these thre men. Y schal resseyue his face; for he synnede liȝtly, and dide pe|naunce therfor perfitly. Lire here. And the Lord addide [addide to I.] alle thingis double, whiche euere weren of Joob. [verse 11] Sotheli [And I.] alle hise britheren, and alle hise sistris, and alle that knewen hym bifore, camen to hym; and thei eeten breed with hym in his hows, and [and thei I.] moueden the [her I.] heed on [upon I.] hym; and thei coumfortiden hym of [on K.] al the yuel, which [that I.] the Lord hadde brouȝt in on [upon I.] hym; and thei ȝauen to hym ech man o [a IS.] scheep, and o [a IS.] goldun eere ring.
