[verse 1] And [And so f sec. m.] Helyu pronounside [schewide forth I.] , and spak [verse 2] also these thingis, Wise men, here ȝe my wordis, and lerned [lerud A pr. m. CDNOV.] men, herkne [herke I.] ȝe me; [verse 3] for [forsothe I.] the eere preueth wordis, and the throte demeth metis [mete CS.] bi taast. [verse 4] Chese we doom to vs; and se we among vs, what [what thing I.] is the [Om. I.] betere [betere than oother I.] . [verse 5] For Job [thou, Job A pr. m. S.] seide [seidest A pr. m. S.] , Y am iust, and God hath distried [turned I.] my doom [iustnesse upsodoun I.] [God hath distried my doom; Helyu took this of that, that Joob seide, God hath take awey my doom, and in this he rehers|ide Joob falsly, for Joob seide not this of his owne persoone, but as conclud|inge this of the seiyngis of his aduersaries. And thouȝ Joob hadde seid this of his owne per|soone, ȝit He|lyu reportide him falsly; for other thing is to distrie doom, other thing is to take awey doom; for whi to distrie doom is euere yuel, and may not be doon wel, and therfor it may not bifalle to God; but to take awey doom, is not ellis no but to use not doom, and this may wel be doon, whanne the iuge vsith mersy and not rigour. And therfor what euere thing Helyu con|cludith in this co. aȝenus Joob, in put|tinge to him, that he seide that God is vniust, ether distriere of riȝtfulnesse, it concludith not aȝenus him.
