[verse 6] Thi tunge, and not Y, schal condempne thee, and thi lippis schulen answere thee. [verse 8] Whether thou herdist [hast herd IS.] the counsel of God, and [and wher I. and whether S.] his wisdom is lower than thou? [verse 10] Bothe wise men and elde, myche eldre than thi fadris, ben among vs. [verse 11] Whether it is greet, that God coumforte [coumforte or turne IS.] thee? But thi schrewid wordis forbeden this. [verse 12] What reisith thin herte thee, and thou as thenk|ynge grete thingis [thouȝtis S.] hast iȝen astonyed? [verse 13] What bolneth thi spirit aȝens God, that thou brynge forth of thi mouth siche wordis? [verse 14] What is a man, that he be with out wem, and that he borun of a womman appere iust? [verse 15] Lo! noon [ther is noon I.] among hise seyntis [among hise seintis; that is, goode aungels ether men; noon is vn|chaungable fro goode to yuel, and this bi kynde, thouȝ goode aungelis ben confermed in good bi grace. I.] a [is a IS.] man abhomynable [a man abho|mynable etc.; that is, Joob himsilf, whom for abhomyna|cioun he nemeth not bi propir name. as watir; that is, doth so synnes with out bridel of drede, and with out mesure. It semeth opinly, that the argu|mentis of Eli|phat ȝeden not. to the entente of Joob, for he axide not to dispute with God bi stryif, as euene with him ether as hiȝere, but as lowere, bi meeke enquer|ing of truthe, as Jeremye seith in xii. c^o. [verse 17] I schal schewe to thee, here thou me; Y schal telle to thee that, that Y siȝ. [verse 18] Wise men knoulechen, and hiden not her fadris. [verse 19] To whiche [the whiche I.] aloone [wyse men aloone IS.] the erthe is ȝouun, and an alien schal not passe bi hem [hem, that is, shal not caste hem doun fro her prosperite V.] . [verse 20] A wickid man is proud in alle hise daies; and the noumbre of hise ȝeeris and of his tirauntrie is vncerteyn. [verse 22] He bileueth not that he may turne aȝen fro derknessis to liȝt; and [and he IS.] biholdith aboute on ech side a swerd. [verse 29] He schal not be maad riche, nether his catel schal dwelle stidefastli; nether he schal sende his roote [verse 30] in [in to I.] the [Om S.] erthe, nether he schal go awei fro derknessis. [verse 32] Bifor that hise daies ben^j fillid, he schal perische, [verse 33] and hise hondis schulen wexe drye; he schal be hirt as a vyne in the firste flour of his grape, and as an olyue tre castinge awei his flour. [verse 34] For [For|sothe IS.] the gaderyng to|gidere of an ipocrite is bareyn, and fier schal deuoure the tabernaclis of hem, that taken [taken gladly I.] ȝiftis wilfuli [Om. I.] . [verse 35] He conseyuede [hath conseiued IS. conseyueth S.] [conseyuede sorewe; that is, bifor thouȝte to do yuel to othere men. and childide wickidnesse, bringinge to effect hise wickid thouȝt, while he was in temperal pow|ere. makith redi; that is, aftir his casting doun he hath ȝit wille to anoye, if he myȝte.
