and Y am not lowere than ȝe. [verse 5] And `Y wolde that ȝe weren [whi ne were ȝe IS.] stille, that ȝe weren gessid to be wise men. [verse 6] Therfor here ȝe my chastisyngis; and perseyue ȝe the doom of my lippis. [verse 7] Whether God hath nede to ȝoure leesyng [leesyngis S.] , that ȝe speke gilis [gilful thingis IS.] for hym? [verse 8] Whether ȝe taken his face, and enforsen [enforsen ȝou IS.] to deme for God? [verse 9] Ethir it [whethir ȝoure gile S.] schal plese hym, fro whom no thing mai be hid? Whether he as a man schal be disseyued with [bi S.] ȝoure falsnessis? [verse 10] He schal repreue ȝou; for ȝe taken his face in hiddlis [for ȝe taken his face in hiddlis; he takith in doom the face of a man in hiddlis, that spekith aȝenus con|sience for that man; so diden these men, for they knewen his hooly liyf and innocence, and netheles they damp|neden him, as to appreue Goddis riȝtfulnesse. [verse 12] Ȝoure mynde schal be com|parisound to aische; and ȝoure nollis schulen be dryuun [driuen doun IS.] in to clei. [verse 13] Be ȝe stille a litil, that Y speke, what euer thing the [my IS.] mynde hath schewid to me. [verse 14] Whi to-rende Y my fleischis [fleishe IS.] with my teeth, and bere my lijf in myn hondis? [verse 15] Ȝhe, thouȝ God sleeth [slee S.] me, Y schal hope in hym; netheles Y schal preue my weies in his siȝt. [verse 16] And he schal be my sauyour; for whi ech ypocrite schal not come in his siȝt. [verse 17] Here ȝe my word, and perseyue ȝe with eeris derke and harde figuratif [priuey IS.] spechis. [verse 18] Yf Y schal be demed [if Y schal be demed; that is, if doom be ȝouun of the sentence which Y susteyne as trewe, Y woot that it schal be appreued as trewe, as God seith in the ende of Joob. [verse 20] Do [Lord, do IS.] thou not to me twei thingis oneli; and thanne Y schal not be hid fro thi face. [verse 21] Make thin hond fer fro me; and thi drede make [make it IS.] not me aferd. [verse 22] Clepe thou me, and Y schal answere thee; ethir certis Y schal speke, and thou schalt answere me [to me S.] . [verse 23] Hou grete synnes and wick|idnessis [wickidnesse S.] haue Y? Schewe thou to me my felonyes [grete giltis IS.] , and [and my IS.] trespassis. [verse 24] Whi hidist thou

[verse 28] And Y schal be wastid as rot, and as a cloth, which [the which I. that S.] is etun of [with CHV.] a mouȝte.
