[verse 1] Thanne the sones of Israel, that dwell|iden in the lond of Juda, herden these thingis, and dredden [thei dredden IS.] greetli of `his face [the face of Holofernes IS.] . [verse 2] Also tremblyng and hidousnesse asailide the wittis of hem, lest he schulde do this thing [these thingis S.] to Jerusalem and to the temple of the Lord, which thing he hadde do to othere citees and templis of tho [hem I. hem the which he had distried S.] . [verse 3] And thei [vn to Jericho the Jewis IS.] senten in to al Samarie, bi cumpas `til to Jerico [Om. IS.] , and bifore [thei bifore IS.] ocupieden alle [verse 4] the coppis [heiȝtis IS.] of hillis [the hillis IS.] ; and thei cumpass|iden her townes with wallis, and gader|iden [thei gaderiden IS.] togidere wheete in to making [the making CDFGHIKMNOQRSUVWXab.] redi of batel. [verse 5] Also the prest [hiȝ cheef preest S.] Eliachym wroot to alle men, `that weren [dwellinge I. that weren wonyng S.] aȝenus Esdrelon, which is aȝenus [euen aȝenus IS.] the face of the grete feeld bisidis Dotaym, and to [he wroot to IS.] alle men bi [verse 6] whiche [whom I.] passage [thanne as passage S.] myȝte be, that [and he bad that S.] thei schulden holde the stiyngis of [up of the IS.] hillis, bi whiche weie [hillis a weie IS.] myȝte [to her enemyes miȝten S.] be to Jerusalem, and that [he bad hem that S.] thei schulden kepe [kepe wele S.] there, where streyt weie miȝte be among [perceyued among IS.] hillis [the hillis IS.] . [verse 9] And the prestis clothiden hem silf with heyris, and ȝonge [the ȝonge C.] children boweden hem silf aȝens [lowli aȝens S.] the face [biholding IS.] of the temple of the Lord, and thei [the prestis IS.] hili|den the auter of the Lord with an heire. [verse 10] And thei crieden togidere to the Lord God of Israel, lest the children of hem schulden be ȝouun in [Om.
