[verse 1] Forsothe [And IS.] aftir that thei hadden soupid, thei brouȝten in [Om. IS.] the ȝong man to [Tobie in to IS.] hir. [verse 2] Therfor [And I. And thanne S.] Tobie [he g.] bithouȝte [bithouȝte him IS.] of [Om. g.] the wordis of the aungel, and `brouȝte forth [he drewe out IS.] of his scrippe a part of the mawe [mawe of the fische IS.] , and puttide [he puttide IS.] it on [upon IS.] quike [the quyke g.] coolis. [verse 3] Thanne [And than S.] Raphael, the aungel, took the fend, and boond [he aȝen boond IS.] hym [hym faste IS.] in the [Om. SX.] desert of hiȝere Egipte. [verse 4] Thanne [And than S.] Tobie monestide [warnyde I. amonestide S.] the virgyn, and seide [he seide I.] to hir, Sare, rise vp, and preye we God to dai, and to morewe, and `the secounde [aftir to I.] morewe; for in these thre nyȝtis we ben ioyned [ioyned togidre S.] [ioyned; that is, owen to be ioyned to God bi deuocioun and preyer, bifor that we go to the dede of matrimonye. C.] to God [God, to preie him hertli to dresse alle our waies S.] ; sotheli [and IS.] whanne the thridde nyȝt is passid, we schulen be [be ooned IS.] in [verse 5] oure mariage [mariage thorou drede and loue of the Lord S.] ; for [certis IS.] we ben the children of hooli men, and we moun not so [Om. IS.] be ioyned [couplid IS.] togidere [togidre in wedlok S.] as also [Om. I.] hethene men [men ben S.] , that knowen not God. [verse 6] Sotheli thei ris|iden [resen EL. resen up I. riseden vp S.] togidere, and bothe [thei bothe IS.] preyeden togi|dere bisili, that helthe [helthe of body and of soule S.] schulde be ȝouun to hem. [verse 7] And Tobie seide, Lord God of oure fadris, heuenes, and londis [erthes I. alle londis S.] , and the see, and wellis, and floodis, and ech crea|ture of thin, which [that IS.] is in tho, blesse thee [it to thee I. to thee S.] ; [verse 8] thou madist Adam of the sliym of erthe, and ȝauest [thou ȝauest IS.] to hym an help, Eue. [verse 9] And now, Lord, thou woost, that Y take my sistir [sistir to wijf IS.] not for cause of letcherie, but for loue aloone of eeris [getyng of children IS.] , in [into X.] whiche [the whiche children getyng IS.] thi name be blessid in to worldis [world CFHMQUVWXbfgh. the world EILOPRa. the worldis S.] of worldis. [verse 10] Ther|for [And thanne IS.] Sare seide, Lord, haue thou mercy on vs, haue thou merci on vs, and waxe we

bothe eelde togidere hoole [hoole in body and soule IS.] . [verse 11] And it was doon aboute the `cockis crowyng [crowyng of cockis IS.] , Raguel made hise seruauntis to be clepid, and thei ȝeden with hym to digge a sepulcre [graue IS.] . [verse 12] For [Forsothe IS.] he dredde, lest it bifelde [had bifalle IS.] in lijk maner to hym [Tobie IS.] , that bifelde also to `se|uene othere [the oothere seuene IS.] men, that [which S.] entriden [entriden in to wedlok S.] to hir [Sare bifore I. Sare S.] . [verse 13] And whanne thei [Raguel and his seruauntis IS.] hadden maad redi a pit, Raguel ȝede aȝen to his [Anne, his S.] wijf, and [verse 14] seide [he seide IS.] to hir, Sende oon of thin hand|maydis [hoond maydens ISXf.] , and se [loke I.] sche, whether `he is [Tobie be I Tobie is S.] deed, that Y byrie hym, bifor that the [Om. IMSX.] liȝt [liȝt of day I. liȝt of day time S.] come. [verse 15] And sche sente oon of hir handmaidis [handmaydens ISX.] , which [the which I.] entride in to [Om. S.] the closet [closet or bed chaumbre IS.] , and foond [sche foond IS.] hem saaf [hool IS.] and sounde, slepynge togidir with [bi I.] hem silf. [verse 16] And sche turnede aȝen, and teld good massage. And thei blessiden the Lord, that is, Raguel [verse 17] and Anne, his wijf, and seiden, Lord God of Israel, we blessen thee, for it `bifelde [verse 18] not [hath not bifalle IS.] to vs, as we gessiden; for [certis IS.] thou hast do thi [Om. EGHIKLMSXafgh.] merci with vs, and [thou IS.] hast schit out fro vs the enemy pursuynge vs. [verse 19] Sotheli thou hast do merci `to tweyne [with two IS.] aloone. My Lord, make thou hem to blesse thee fulliere, and for to offre to thee the sacri|fice of thi preisyng, and of her helthe, that the vnyuersite [vnyuersite or al manere I. vniuersitee or the multitude S.] of folkis knowe, that thou art God aloone in al erthe. [verse 20] And anoon Raguel comaundide hise seruauntis to fille [fille aȝen IS.] the pit, which [that IS.] thei hadden maad, bifor that the [Om. IS.] liȝt [liȝt of day IS.] cam. [verse 38] `Forsothe he [And Raguel IS.] seide to his wijf, that sche schulde araie a feeste, and make [that sche schulde make IS.] redi alle thingis, that weren nedeful to men makynge iournei. [verse 22] Also he [Raguel IS.] made to be slayn twei [two I.] fatte kien, and foure wetheris, and metis [he made metis IS.] to be maad redi to alle hise neiȝboris, and alle [to alle IS.] hise frendis. [verse 23] And Raguel made Tobie to swere [bihote him IS.] , that he schulde `dwelle twei woukis at Raguel [abijde with him two wokis IS.] . [verse 24] Sotheli [And IS.] of [Om. IS.] alle

thingis, whiche [that IS.] Raguel hadde in posses|sioun, he ȝaf the half part [part therof S.] to Tobie; and he [Raguel IS.] made this scripture [obligacioun writen IS.] , that the half part, that was left [left of his catel IS.] , schulde come to the lordschip of Tobie aftir the deeth of hem [him and of his wijf IS.] .
