IN this book of Tobie ben contened the seuen dedis of merci, whiche Tobie wrouȝte with his peple of the sones of Israel, that weren in caitifte, acordinge to the gospel of Crist, seiynge, Blessid ben thei that ben merciful, for thei schullen haue merci; wherfor Tobie doinge merci hadde merci of God, which sente his aungel to comforte him, and to do merci to him, as he hadde do bifore to his peple of Israel.
