[verse 24] And the sones of Israel camen [comen thidere IS.] , and hadden [thei hadden IS.] the [that IS.] lond in posses|sioun; and bifor hem thou madist low [low [the S] men of Chananye IS.] the [Om. IS.] dwellers of the [that I.] lond, Cananeis [Om. I.] ; and thou ȝauest hem in to the hondis of the sones of Israel, and the kyngis of hem, and the puplis of the lond, that thei diden to hem, as it pleside hem. and castiden [thei castiden IS.] awei thi lawe bihynde her backis [bak IS.] ; and thei killiden thi prophetis, that witnessiden to hem, that thei schul|den turne aȝen to thee; and thei diden grete blasfemyes. [verse 27] And thou ȝauest hem in to the hond of her enemyes; and thei turmentiden hem; and in the tyme of her tribulacioun thei crieden to thee; and thou herdist them fro heuyn, and bi thi many merciful doyngis thou ȝauest hem [to hem plures.] sauy|ours, that sauyden hem fro the hond of her enemyes. [verse 28] And whanne thei hadden restid, thei turneden aȝen to do yuel in thi siȝt; and thou forsokist hem in the hond of her enemyes, and enemyes hadden hem in possessioun; and [than S.] thei weren con|uertid [turned aȝen I. turned aȝen to thee S.] , and thei [Om. [verse 32] Now ther|for, oure Lord God, greet God, strong, and ferdful [stidefast IS.] , kepynge couenaunt and merci, turne thou not awei thi face [face fro vs S.] in al the trauel that foond [hath found IS.] vs, oure [and oure IS.] kyngis, and oure princes, and oure fadris, and oure preestis, and oure profetis, and al thi pu|ple, fro the daies of kyng Assur til to this dai [present tyme IS.] . [verse 33] And thou [Lord, thou IS.] art iust in alle thingis,

that camen on [to IS.] vs, for [for euer S.] thou didist trewthe to vs; but [and IS.] we han do wickidli [wickidli aȝens thee IS.] . [verse 34] Oure [And oure IS.] kyngis, and oure princes, oure [and oure IS.] prestis, and fadris [oure fadris IS.] `diden not [han not don IS.] thi lawe; and thei perseyueden not thin heestis and witness|yngis [thi witnessyngis IS.] , whiche [that I.] thou witnessidist [hast witnessid IS.] in hem [thin hestis IS.] . [verse 35] And thei in her good rewmes, and in thi myche goodnesse, which thou ȝauest [hast ȝoue IS.] to hem, and in the largest [ful large I.] lond and fat, whych thou haddist ȝoue in the siȝt of hem, serueden not thee, nether turneden aȝen fro her werste studies. [verse 36] Lo [Lo! therfore IS.] ! we `vs silf [oure self EILPS.] ben thrallis to dai; and the lond [lond also I.] which [that IS.] thou ȝauest [hast ȝouen IS.] to oure fadris, that thei schulden ete the breed therof, and the goodis that ben therof, `is thral [Om. I.] ; and we `vs silf [oure self EILPS.] ben thrallis, `ethir boonde men [Om. CIS.] , in that lond. [verse 37] And the fruytis therof ben multiplied to kyngis, whiche [that I.] thou hast set on [upon IS.] vs for oure synnes; and thei ben lordis of oure bodies, and of oure beestis, bi her wille, and we ben in greet tribulacioun.
