[verse 1] Therfor the puple of the lond [lond of Juda IS.] took Joachaz, the sone of Josie, and ordeynede hym kyng for his fadir in Jerusalem. [verse 2] Joachaz was of thre and twenti ȝeer, whanne he bigan to regne, and he regnede thre monethis in Jerusalem. [verse 3] Sotheli [And whanne INS.] the kyng of Egipt, `whan he [Om. INS.] hadde come

to Jerusalem, remouyde [he remouyde INS.] hym, and con|dempnede [he condempnede INS.] the lond [lond of Juda IS.] in an hundrid ta|lentis of siluer and in a [oo S.] talent of gold. [verse 4] And he ordeynede for hym Eliachim, his brother, kyng on [upon IS.] Juda and Jerusalem [upon Jerusalem I. on Jerusalem N.] ; and turnede [he turnede INS.] his name Joakym [and clepide him Joakym IS.] . Sotheli [And INS.] he took thilk Joachaz with hym silf, and brouȝte [he brouȝte him INS.] in to Egipt. [verse 5] Joakym [And Joakym C.] was of fyue and twenti ȝeer, whanne he bigan to regne, and he regnyde eleuene ȝeer in Je|rusalem, and he dide yuel bifor `his Lord God [the Lord his God INS.] . [verse 6] Nabugodonosor [And Nabugodonosor NS.] , kyng of Caldeis, styede [wente up I. stiȝede up NS.] aȝens this Joakym, and ledde [he ledde INS.] hym boundun with chaynes in to Babiloyne. [verse 7] To which [the which I.] Babiloyne [citee IS.] he translatide also the vessels of the [the hous of the N.] Lord, and settide [he sette INS.] tho in his temple. [verse 8] Sotheli the residue [remenaunt INS.] of wordis [the wordis INS.] of Joakym, and of hise abhomy|naciouns whiche he wrouȝte, and that [the whiche I. whiche NS.] weren foundun in hym, ben conteyned in the book of kyngis of Israel and of Juda. Therfor [And INS.] Joachym, his sone, regnede for hym. [verse 9] Joachym was of eiȝte ȝeer, whanne he bigan to regne, and he regnede thre monethis and ten daies in Jerusalem, and he dide yuel in the siȝt of the Lord. [verse 10] And whanne the cercle of the [thre A pr. m.] ȝeer was turned aboute, Nabugodonosor the [Om. INS.] kynge [kynge of Babiloyn IS.] sente men [men in to Juda IS.] , whiche also brouȝten hym in to Babiloyne, whanne the moost preciouse vessels of the hows of the Lord weren borun out togidir [togidre thens S.] . Sotheli [And IN. Om. S.] he [Nabugodo|nosor INS.] ordeyn|ede Sedechie, his fadris brother, kyng on [upon IS.] Juda and Jerusalem. [verse 11] Sedechie was of oon and twenti ȝeer, whanne he bigan to regne, and he regnede eleuene ȝeer in Jerusalem. [verse 12] And he dide yuel in the siȝt of `his Lord God [the Lord his God INS.] , and he was not aschamed of the face of Jeremye, the prophete, spekynge [that spake INS.] to hym bi the mouth of the Lord. [verse 13] Also he ȝede awey [Om. INS.] fro the [Om. NS.] kyng Nabugodonosor, that [whiche INS.] hadde [Om. INS.] made hym to swere bi God [God, that is [to bihote stidefastly I.] to be trewe to him INS.] ;

and he [Sedechie INS.] made hard his nol and herte [his herte INS.] , that he nolde [wolde not I.] turne aȝen to the Lord [Lord God INS.] of Is|rael. [verse 14] But also alle the princes of preestis and the puple trespassiden wickidli, bi alle abhomynaciouns [the abhomynaciouns INS.] of hethene men; and thei defouliden the hows of the Lord, which he halewide [hadde halewid NS.] to hym silf in Jeru|salem. [verse 15] Forsothe [And INS.] the Lord God of her fadris sente to hem bi the hond [hond or bifore warning S.] of hise messangeris, and [and the Lord NS.] roos [roos up INS.] bi nyȝt [nyȝt, that is, whanne thei weren blyndid bi derknesse of synne, he profride his grace to hem IS.] , and amonestide [he amonestide hem INS.] ech day; for [forthi that I. for that N. for that that S.] he sparide [wolde spare INS.] his puple and dwellyng [his dwellyng INS.] place. [verse 16] And thei scorneden [vndermowiden in scorn I. vndirmowiden NS.] the messangeris of God, and dispisiden [thei dispisiden INS.] hise wordis, and scorneden [thei scorneden INS.] hise prophetis; til the greet veniaunce of the Lord stiede on [up upon I. vpon S.] his puple, and noon [no NS.] heelyng [cure or heelyng IS. cure N.] were [were to hem S.] . [verse 17] And he brouȝte on [upon IS.] hem the kyng of Caldeis; and killide [with swerd he killide I. bi swerd he killide NS.] the ȝonge men of hem `bi swerd [Om. INS.] in the hows of seyntuarie [the seyntuarie INS.] ; `he hadde not merci [Om. INS.] of [on C. and D.] a ȝong `man, and of a [Om. A.] vergyn, and of an eld man [man he had not thanne mercy INS.] , and sotheli [certis INS.] nether of [Om. INS.] a [he sparide a INS.] man niȝ the deth for eldnesse [age INS.] , but he bitook alle [alle men INS.] in [in to INS.] the hond of that [the NS. Om. I.] king of Caldeis. [verse 18] And he translatide in to Babiloyne alle the vessels of the hows of the Lord, bothe the grettere and the lasse vessels, and the tresours of the temple, and of the kyng [kyng of Juda INS.] , and of the princes [princes theroff INS.] . [verse 19] Enemyes [And enemyes NS.] brenten the hows of the Lord; thei [and thei INS.] distrieden the wal of Jerusalem; thei brenten alle the touris; and thei distrieden what euer thing was preciouse [preciouse therynne INS.] . [verse 20] If ony man ascapide the swerd [swerd and was not slayn S.] , he was led [taken and led INS.] in to Babiloyne, and seruyde [seruede there S.] the kyng and hise sones [sones, this subiectioun was upon the men of Juda I. sones, this subieccion or thraldom con|teyned vpon the men of Juda S.] ; til [verse 21] the kyng of Peersis regnyde, and [and til INS.] the word of the Lord bi the mouth of Jere|mye was fillid [fulfillid INS.] , and til the lond halewide hise sabatis. For [Sothely INS.] in [Juda in IS.] alle the daies of

desolacioun [desolacioun or of the distrying or forsaking therof S.] it [Om. I.] made sabat, til that se|uenti ȝeer weren fillid [fulfillid INS.] . [verse 22] Forsothe [Sothli INS.] in the firste ȝeer of Cyrus, kyng [the kyng INS.] of Persis, to fille [fulfille INS.] the word of the Lord, which he hadde spoke bi the mouth of Jeremye, the Lord reiside the spirit of Cirus, king [the king NS.] of Persis, that [whiche INS.] comaundide to be prechid in al his rewme, ȝhe, bi scripture [writing IN. writing he sente out hise lettris S.] , and seide, [verse 23] Cirus, the [Om. INS.] king of Persis, seith these thingis, The Lord God of heuene ȝaf [hath ȝouen INS.] to me alle the rewmes of erthe, and he co|maundide to me, that Y schulde bilde to hym an hows in Jerusalem, which [that INS.] is in Judee. Who of ȝou is in al his puple [puple, that wil go wirschipe him there INS.] ? `his Lord God [the Lord his God NS.] be with hym, and stie he [he up I. he up thidur NS.] `in to Jerusalem [Om. INS.] .
