Salomon, kyng [the kyng IN.] of Israel, the sone of Dauid, bildide; for [certis INS.] ȝe schulen no more bere it [it aboute NS.] . But now serue [serue ȝe IMNSX.] `ȝoure Lord God [the Lord ȝoure God INS.] [verse 4] and his puple Israel, and make [make ȝe INS.] ȝou redi bi ȝoure housis and meynees in the de|partyngis of ech bi hym silf, as Dauid, king of Israel, comaundide, and [and as INS.] Salomon, [verse 5] his sone, discryuede [ordeynede INS.] ; and serue ȝe in the seyntuarie bi the [Om. INS.] meynees and cumpenyes [verse 6] of dekenes, and be ȝe halewid, and offre ȝe pask; also `make redi [make ȝe redi C. sec. m. he made redi DEGKLMOPQRUWXbç. Om. [verse 8] And hise duykis offriden tho thingis whiche thei avowiden bi fre [her fre INS.] wille, as wel to the puple as to prestis and de|kenes. [verse 11] And preestis spreynten her hondis with blood, and de|kenes drowen of the [Om. Sotheli [And INS.] thei sethiden pesible sacrifices in pannes, and cawdruns [in cawdruns INS.] , and pottis [in pottis INS.] , and [verse 14] in haste thei deliden [deliden it INS.] to al the puple; but thei [the dekens INS.] maden redi aftirward to hem silf, and to prestis; for preestis [the prestis INS.] weren occu|pied `til to [vnto IN. to S.] nyȝt in [to S.] the offryng of brent sacrifices and of ynnere [the ynnere INS.] fatnessis [fatnesse S.] . Wher|for dekenes [the dekenes INS.] maden redi [redi her part at the laste INS.] to hem silf and to preestis [the preestis INS.] , the sones of Aaron, `the laste [Om. INS.] . [verse 15] Forsothe [And INS.] syngeris, the sones of Asaph, stoden in her ordre, bi the comaundement [heest INS.] of Dauid, and of Asaph, and of Eman, and of Yditum, the profetis of the kyng; but the porteris kepten [kepten her office IS.] bi ech ȝate, so that thei ȝeden not awei fro the [her INS.] seruice, sotheli in a poynt [poynt, no tyme cessynge therof I. poynt, that is, thei weren in no tyme absent fro her office S.] ; wherfor and dekenes [the dekenes INS.] , her britheren, maden redi metis [her metis INS.] to hem. [verse 16] Therfor al the religioun of the Lord was fillid [fulfillid INS.] riȝtfuli in that day, that thei maden pask, and offriden brent sacrifices on [upon IS.] the auter of the Lord, bi the [Om. NS.] comaundement [heest INS.] of kyng [the kyng INS.] Josie. [verse 17] And the sones of Israel, that weren foundun there, maden pask in that tyme, and the solempnite of therf looues seuene [bi seuene INS.] daies. [verse 18] No pask was lijk this in Israel, fro the daies of Samuel, the prophete; but nethir ony of the kyngis [kyngis; not as to multitude of puple, for in the tyme of Dauyth and of Salomon, more multi|tude of puple cam to the so|lempnyte of pask, but this excelence is vndurstondun as to the fre ȝifte of Josie, that ȝaf more to the puple than Dauyth and Salomon, that weren richere. Y come not aȝens thee to dai, but Y fiȝte aȝens another hows [meyne INS.] , to which [the which I.] God bad me go in haste; ceesse thou to do [do thus NS.] aȝens God, which [that INS.] is with me, lest he sle thee. But Josias NS.] nolde [wolde not I.] turne aȝen, but made [he made INS.] redi batel aȝens hym; and he assentide not to the wordis of Nechao, bi [spokyn bi S.] Goddis mouth, but he ȝede for to fiȝte in the feeld of Magedo. [verse 23] And there he was woundide of archeris, and seide [Josias seide INS.] to hise children, `Lede ȝe [Lede plures. Ledeth INS.] me out of the batel, for Y am woundid greetli. [verse 24] Whiche [And thei INS.] baren hym ouer fro the [that INS.] chare in to an other chare, that suede hym, bi custom of the kyng, and `baren out [thei broȝten INS.] hym [hym forth INS.] in to Jeru|salem; and he diede [diede there INS.] , and was [he was NS.] biried in the sepulcre of hise fadris. And al Juda [verse 25] and Jerusalem biweiliden hym, Jeremye [but Jeremye INS.] moost [biweilide him moost NS.] , of whom alle syngeris and syng|eressis [syngsteris I.] `til in to [vnto I.] present [this present INS.] dai rehersen `lamentaciouns, ether [Om. [verse 26] Forsothe [Certis INS.] the residue [remenaunt INS.] of wordis [the wordis INS.] of Jo|sie, and of hise [the INS.] mercies [mercies of Josie S.] , that [whiche NS.] ben co|maundid [boden INS.] in the lawe of the Lord, and hise werkis [firste werkis INS.] , `the firste [Om. INS.] and the laste, ben wryten in the book of kyngis [the kyngis INS.] of Israel and of Juda.
