CAP. XVIII.
[verse 1] Therfor [Forsothe INS.] Josaphat was riche [ful riche INS.] and ful [Om. INS.] noble, and bi affynyte, `ethir alie [Om. IN.] , he was ioyned to Achab. [verse 2] And aftir ȝeeris [certeyn ȝeeris INS.] he [Josaphat INS.] cam doun to hym [Achab INS.] in to Samarie; at whos comyng Achab killide ful many wetheris and oxis [oxen INS.] , and to the puple that cam with hym; and he [Achab NS.] counseilide hym [Josaphat INS.] to stie [wende up with him I. stie with him N. stie vp with him S.] in to Ramoth of Galaad. [verse 3] And [Om. S.] Achab, the [Om. INS.] kyng of Israel, seide to Josaphat, kyng of Juda, Come thou with me in to Ramoth of Galaad. To whom he answeride, As and Y am [am ioyned to thee I. am bi affinyte ioyned to the in fren|shepe S.] , thou [so and thou NS.] art [art also to me I. art to me S.] ; as [and as IN. and as bi our affinyte S.] thi puple [peple is my peple S.] , so and [also I.] my puple [peple is thi peple S.] ; and we schulen be with thee in batel. [verse 4] And [And eft I. And ouer this S.] Josaphat seide to the kyng of Israel, Y biseche [biseche thee IS.] , counsele thou in present [this present IS.] tyme the word of the Lord. [verse 5] Therfor [Thanne I.] the kyng of Israel gaderide togi|dere foure hundrid `men of [Om. C.] prophetis, and seide [he seide INS.] to hem, Owen we to go in to Ra|math of Galaad for to fiȝte, ethir `take reste [reste at hoom I. shuln we take reste and cum not there S.] ? And thei [the prophetis INS.] seiden, Stie ȝe [ȝe up thidere I. ȝe vp. N. up thidere S.] , and God schal bitake [bitake it INS.] in [in to INS.] the hond of the king. [verse 6] And Josaphat seide, Whether no profete of the Lord is [be IS.] here, that we `axe also [may also axe I. axe this also S.] of hym? [verse 7] And the kyng of Israel seide to Josaphat, O man is [ther is I. is niȝ here S.] , of whom we `moun axe [may wite I. moun wite NS.] the wille of the Lord, but and [Om. IS.] Y hate hym, for he prophecieth not good [good thing IN. good thing to my lykyng S.] , but yuel [yuel thing IN. he profecieth yuel thing S.] to me in al tyme; sothely [and INS.] it is Mychee, the sone of Jebla. And Josaphat seide to hym, Kyng, speke thou not in this maner. [verse 8] Therfor [Thanne I.] the kyng of Israel cle|pide oon of the [hise INS.] geldyngis [geldingis or chast seruauntis I. chaast ser|uauntis NS.] , and seide to hym, Clepe thou soone [anoon IN. to me anoon S.] Mychee, the sone of Jebla. [verse 9] Forsothe [And INS.] the kyng of Israel and Josaphat, the [Om. INS.] kyng of Juda, saten [saten thanne I. saten this tyme S.]
